Child saftey

Office Depo also sells temporary tattoo paper. You can make your own for cheaper. And with disney clip art, you can make them super cute!

Something to note, CM can't search a child for information because it can be misinterpreted badly, so put it in a place where it can be seen. We use the ID bracelets since DS is use to it... we also use it at our zoo.

i really need to start "practicing" using the harness with DD2. she's worn it around the house and makes me hold the tail end, then walks around, but we've never used it in public. we have a week left before we leave, so i should try it out in public to see how she does. DD2 loves, however, to be in the stroller...she even climbs in it herself...but it may be a different story when we're there at DL next week.

i also made a little ID tag for her using one of the mickey heads from home depot. i didn't use the lime green one though. i used a pink/purplish one. i printed her name (including pronunciation), DOB, "no medical conditions", our names, and our cell phone numbers. i glued it to the back of the mickey head and cut it to the shape of the head. now all i have to do is laminate it, and punch a small hole. i plan to saftey pin the tag somewhere on her shirt/jacket with the colored part of the mickey head facing out. :thumbsup2

That sounds so cute! :lovestruc

One thing, though... you might not want to have her name on it, at least not visible. If it's tucked away where it can be found if need be, that's fine.

During 7 years as a volunteer at my kids' coop preschool, regulations were that we never put nametags on the kids when we were out in public, like on a field trip. They had tags with the preschool name and phone number on it, that was it. The reasoning went that if a potential abductor saw the name and saw an opportunity, he/she could say to the child, "There you are, Emma! Your mom is looking for you! Come on with me, she's right over there." Most little ones, unfortunately, will fall for it.

Just a thought.

Edit: You know, though-- that invalidates the whole point of embroidered Mickey ears. Heck. Just keep one eye on the kid at all times.

thanks for the note, gail. yes, i definitely plan to keep an eye on DD2 at all times! also, i think i will safety pin the tag on the waist part of her pants/shorts. :thumbsup2 oh, and i tried the harness today for this first time. i took dd2 with me to check the mail. i held her hand most of the way, but when she wanted to go investigate a plant, i'd let her go. she never tried to run away and didn't try to pull once she had reached the end of the "leash".

At two we just kept ds in the stroller for the most part. It's too much walking for their little legs. Otherwise we watched him like a hawk (especially when he got to the age where he could handle all the walking). Held hands ect... I'm not against any of these devices, but I actually would worry how well they'd work. I would worry something would come undone, or break. I'd still have to watch like a hawk anyway, such a busy place full of people everywhere. You see a lot of little ones step out right in front of people, or even worse strollers. Just dangerous!
