Child Modeling?

My daughter is a very active 3 year old girl and it seems the only time she sits still and actually listens is when she gets to go to the studio for photos. She takes beautiful pictures and I never thought I'd say this but...I'm actually considering taking her to do some modeling. I have NO idea how to do this or who to contact. Anyone's children model? My sister has a good friend who's daughters all modeled (for big companies like American Girl, etc.) and I've been thinking of asking her, but I'm not sure I want my sister to know I'm considering this yet. Any suggestions, ideas on how to get started???

Usually you have to have an agent and an agent books u with the companies. Usually big companies call an agency and describe what they are looking for and the agency goes through their clients and send the ones that match what is needed. Your best bet is to look for agents in your area or contact a modeling school and ask them what they recommend in your area. Good luck

Look for SAG (Screen Actors Guild) agents in your area. Yes, they also book models. Send an introductory letter to the agent saying the same basic thing you put in your post. Include two photos. They do not need to be professional photos, but they do need to be clear. One should be a photo of her upper body (mostly face). The other should be a full body shot. Don't try to make her too cutesy or to look older. Natural is best. Ask the agent to consider your DD for print work. If the agent likes her look, they will call you in to discuss representation.

Do not pay for classes of any kind. Do not sign with anyone who wants money up front. A legit agent makes money when they book their talent. You should not have to pay anything up front. If you do, it is a scam. Beware of the John Robert Powers type companies. Beware of the model searches.

If an agent does decide to represent your daughter, they will probably want you to have some professional pictures taken for a comp card. Other than that, you should not have to pay for anything.

Here is a link to a website my DD did for young actors. The same basic premises hold for models. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask. I've done a ton of research over the years since my DD became interested in acting.

My DS did some modeling when he was younger. I just sent normal everyday snapshots into a talent/modeling agency in the city, and if there was something that might "fit" for him , they would call for him to come to an audition. We never sent any money and the agency was very adament that the pictures be normal everyday photos, no professional or made up ones.

It was fun for a while but as DS got older and got into sports and school , he stopped doing it. I thought about sending pics of DD in but just don't really want to get into it again.
