Hi board, my husband and I are flying down for a three-night stay at Animal Kingdom Villas-Kidani in two weeks ... without our four kids! We've arranged babysitting with VERY awesome family and friends. It's our first kid-less getaway since, well, before kids! Anyhow, we have a lot of DW experience, but not as a couple looking to mostly relax but also have a good time. Any tips?

First of all, congratulations on what is probably a well deserved break. My DH and I also have 4 kids and have squeezed in 2 trips without the kiddos along. You will come home reconnected with your spouse and maybe have learned of a few disney secrets to bring the kids back and enjoy someday.

The absolute "BEST" thing we did was the Segway Tour at Epcot...you have to be 16 yrs old so we figured it would be many years before all our kids could do this anyway. We made our reservation using our Disney Visa and got a very nice discount. We got the earliest tour they offered, and got let into the park before opening...AMAZING if you like that kind of thing. You go through a training in innoventions West and it gets you all ready to go out and cruise
the park. There are many phot op stops along the way, but yes, you are touring around epcot all by yourself where no people are allowed during that time of the day. IT was sooo fun! I think we had a 3 hour tour,,,I just remembering how comfortable I was pretty quickly and I didn't want to stop.
Once we were done, we went and ate lunch at a favorite restarant. We enjoyed taking water taxis as transportation even though they are slow, they are much more enjoyable/romantic to snuggle in with your spouse, and they do take longer than say the bus. We spend some well desserved R&R around the pool too.

The best part of the trip was seeing Disney in the eyes of my spouse! We could do what we wanted without concerning ourselves with what we should do for the kids, We also did the train tour as a friend of ours is one of the Engineers, There is lots to do for adults at Disney as you will find!

Please feel to PM me if you have more specifics?

Congratulations! My husband and I took a trip in May without out kids and it was fabulous.

The things we enjoyed were:

Visiting Epcot everyday no matter what park we started at. We just enjoy walking around the world...especially at night.

sleeping in when we were tired from staying out late. We took advantage of Evening Magic Hours. MK was open until 1am.

eating at restaurants our kids don't enjoy: San Angel Inn and the restaurant in the French Pavillion.

Took ferry to DTD from OKW.

Enjoyed margharitas while watching fireworks at Epcot.

Happy Hour at the Irish Restaurant at DTD:dance3:

Each others company. Really did have time to reconnect and enjoy some time in our room which doesn't happen when the kids are travelling with us:rolleyes1

free dining and magic express. It was so nice to not have to cook or drive during our visit.

Photopass. It was nice to have someone else take pictures of us. I have a beautiful photo that I have put on a large canvas to commemorate our anniversary trip.

No matter what you choose...you will have a great time because you are going to WDW as a couple!!!!

(PS--we came home and booked a September mini-trip with our kids because while we were at wdw, we recalled so many memories there with our kids that we wanted to experience it again...with them. Hopefully, I won't regret it.)

wow just jealous of the "No kids " part. I hope you all have a great time! Try to sneak in adult only things like maybe a massage .. ohh Ahhhh

DH and I don't have kids and at this point probably won't (very long story there, lol). Anyway, I love WDW without kids. It's so relaxing, if something interests you, you just change directions and go. We are into pin trading and just follow the shiny objects sometimes. :rotfl:

If you want to sit on a park bench for an hour and people watch you can, if you want to go open to close and then sleep till 11 the next morning you can.

We have a daily plan with ADR's, but since it's the 2 of us and we can alter on a whim without complaint.

Someday we'll go with my neices and nephews and I'm sure I'll love it, but I'm perfectly happy doing WDW kidless. It can be as relaxing or as comando as you want it to be at any moment.

if you want to go open to close and then sleep till 11 the next morning you can.

Makes me want to drop off my 5 kids to you and run like heck :lmao:
What is sleep anyways?

Epcot ever day is so relaxing and fun if you are not pressed for time and you just want to enjoy all the outdoor food and actitivies. We love the pub in Eagland to get a drink and stroll around.

Make sure you go to some fun dinner places that you would not take the family - try small plates or share a meal so you are not stuffed! We also love to walk around the boardwalk at night.

:thumbsup2 have fun

go to a good TS restaurant, like the Brown Derby at HS or the Bistro de Paris in the France Pavillion in Epcot. Both are more upscale and more for adults and the food at both is really good! If you want something more fun or funkier, try the 50's Prime Time Cafe in HS. It has some great specialty cocktails and the food is really good too.

Also, don't wear yourselves out too much to not have fun time at the hotel room too ;):flower3: Bring a bottle of wine with you or buy one at the hotel. You can always relax by the pool or jacuzzi's together after a hard day at the parks.

Thanks for all the responses! We are leaving tomorrow morning and can't wait! We made some reservations at restaurnts we wouldn't normally go to with our kids... Jiko, Kouzzina, Citricos, Les Chefs.... and strolling Epcot and the Boardwalk are definitely in the plans, along with relaxing during the day:cloud9: Hope I can sleep tonight!

Awesome! We are going without our kids also.....this will be the 2x visit without kids, last time was 5 or 6 years ago. We are going for 5 days and 4 nights, staying at Caribbean beach in a king bed room. Looking forward to being able to Do what we want, when we want!! Have a great time!
