what do you use as a safety id for the kids in the parks? we thought about the silicone bracelets and putting dh's cell # on it. just wondering what others do? my kids are 10, 6, 2 & 1
thanks

we found some nice landers at the dollar store and a name badge holder and on a card we put there name , age , any allergies or medical problems , the hotel were at , and everybody's cell phone numbers on it , and on the other side of the card we put a wallet size photo of the child , we told the kids they were not aloud to leave the room without them on and not aloud to take the off until we got back to the room , now they even ware them to the airport and when securty asks for id they show them and say here my id

Funny you should ask... 10 minutes ago, I ordered temporary tattoos from http://tattooswithapurpose.com/orderkitshere.html Cute designs, just over $1 each, and they say "If I am lost, please help me be found" with a space to write in a phone number. They also have some that express autism or Down's syndrome or allergies. My own dd4 would NEVER wear a bracelet or necklace all day, but she LOVES tattoos. To each his own...

I ordered 2 of the silicone bracelets for each of my kids. I loved the color options and the flexibility of them. I also like that they are waterproof and safe for the kids to wear.

Be sure you remember to put your area code on them! For my kids that's the part that gets forgotten when stressed.

I think it depends on if your children will tolerate a bracelet or not. My girls love bracelets/bands so it works for us. I recently made pink ones that say MOM and my cell number and blue ones that say DAD with his cell. Best wishes :wizard:

I don't think DS would tolerate a bracelet or tattoo, so I just made mailing labels with "If I get lost, please call..." I put our cell phone numbers and the name of the resort we're staying at. I'm going to put it on the back of his t-shirt. I made a bunch so I can just rip them off and throw them away each day. I read it on the disney mom advice board.

There are also shoe id tags that are neat.

We are doing the tattoo with our numbers. At Michaels they have the sheets of temp tattoo that you can print usint your printer and make whatever design you want ;)

this site had some really good ideas;
DS2 does not speak well so I went with the dog tags for his shoes.:goodvibes

We went with the silicone bracelets (December will be our 3rd trip with them), but my girls wear them on their ankles (less likely to be fidgeted with, etc).

We take a sharpie and write our cell number right on their arm.

Go figure...I use a paperclip as a money clip too.

The simpler the better.

We bought the tags that you can personalize for a dog collar! We then put them on their shoes with a zip tie. I happened to find them at a craft fair that were shaped like pirate skulls. I really did not want to do the bone shaped ones! I have 2 boys. They have the heart shped ones if you have a daughter. It worked well for us, we put them on before we left home, made me feel better at the air ports too.

I also just used a pen and wrote our cell phone number on the upper part of my kids' arms. I didn't have to worry that they will lose a bracelet or a shoe (yep, lost shoes before--and they weren't babies), or other types of tags. I wrote it high enough so that when they washed their hands, they wouldn't wash off the phone number, but low enough that someone would notice the last couple of numbers below the shirt cuff.

I bought some tyvek bracelets, like they have at events. They can't be removed without scissors, so I won't have to worry about my kids taking them off if they don't like them. Might put them on their ankles instead... The ones I got are flourescent green and I will just write my cell phone number on it... with area code. I just wasn't sure how well the tatoos worked since other temporary tatoos we get for fun work sometimes, but not always. We'll see how this works - or we'll be writing on their arms with a sharpie pen too! : )

this made me laugh when I thought about what I did...

I wrote on DD with a sharpie. It got the job done!:lmao:

I just saw a kit at Michaels yesterday that you can decorate your own silicone bracelet. I don't recall the price, but I know it was under 19.99. It looked like a cooll craft project and would probably be work for you.

someone on here suggested the shanrene.com site awhile back. I got two silicone bands w/ both my and DH's cell #s on them for a total of about $10 (shipping incl.) I'll be putting them on their ankles. They don't seem to care that they're there, and they can't take them off!

Thanks for the site! I just ordered two; so, now we will have the dog tags (which I really like) and the bracelets (I too will be placing on his ankle). I think I have the bases covered now. We have the stroller swap, we have his monkey harness, and we are excited and can't wait to leave.

Plain old fashioned metal dog tags like soldiers wore (wear?) - I have boys so they think they're cool. You can get them customized at your local army/navy store. The sets we have came with the necklace and the toe tag, which can be attached to a shoe or belt loop.

My kids won't leave a necklace or a bracelet alone. They take them off and lose them.

I bought engraved dogtags from Petsmart. I put their name on them and a cell phone number. I use a safety pin to pin the dogtag to their shirt. They don't take them off.
