Child ID ideas

This thread got me thinking, what I might do is use my extra Mickey Head paint chips and write all the info on there and then laminate them. I will then pin them to my kids shirts or make some type of anklet out of it and attach it those chains that come on key chains.

Just a thought!

Keep in mind that CMs are not allowed to search kids clothes for id (especially inside clothes). If your child isnt old enough to know about the id and pull out by himself, then stick with something like a bracelet or shoe id. You want something noticable, but not so noticable that a predator could read the child's name and use it.

I like the hospital ID band idea :) We will be doing this in May when we go :)
Every morning we always take a picture of the kids too and what they are wearing that day in the parks :) ANd if we have to change them, we take the pic right away :)

I used to get the id tags at guest relations for my son, made sure to fill in our cell phones and that he may be non-verbal (ASD). We have APs and are there often, so I started making our own similar ones. They tie to his beltloop and are visible.

A sharpie and duct tape!!!

YOu can simply write your info on it then stick in inside their shirt or get creative and make a bracelet or anklet out of it!!!

They both come in several different colors!!

Great inexpensive idea!! Thanks!

You are so creative!! I love this idea!
Just to add to your idea, after laminating, poke a small hole and hang from belt loop etc.

This is what we do for an ID tag for our stroller :) it helps us identify ours amongst the hundreds of others :)

We use www.idonme.com

My dh is an avid runner and he wears one of these when he goes running. It's been in all types of weather, and the paper inside has stayed dry. It is very comfortable to wear one of these.

The case isn't too easy to open, but my kids can manage it if they need to.

I hate hospital ID bracelets! They itch, and they bother me! Nasty plastic things!

You can order "dog tags" that are cool, and wear them on your neck, wrist, or through the shoe loop.

You are all so organized & clever!

As a kid, I always was so overwhelmed with all of the things to look at in the parks that I frequently got separated from my parents as a kid. I remember to this day that feeling of utter hopelessness when you look around & your people are gone forever!

I just had to admit although this trip will be our first big trip where my son could seriously wander off, on the few times we've gone somewhere and I was a little concerned we could get separated, I usually just grab a fine point sharpie or my waterproof uniball & jot our cell on my son's arm! Although he's going to be 6 this fall when we head to WDW, I think I'll add a new 'dog tag' to his Pokemon dog tags with contact info. This way if he does panic, he can find a mom and just show her the necklace if he's crying...

Since I didn't plan ahead, I came up with a last minute idea of using a luggage tag. My DD and her teddy bear that had to travel with us each day had a luggage tag attached to them - DD's on her belt loop and Brownie Bear's around his neck. DD's stayed out of her way yet was noticable enough if needed.

We used the dog-tag idea too.

We went to Petco and had a gold heart made with the DD's name and my cell phone number on it. We put it on a gold chain and then gave her "her special Disney necklace."

She absolutely loved it -- would not leave the room without it and showed it to every princess she met. They, of course, all made a big fuss over it.

We use these http://www.mypreciouskid.com/id-bracelet.html. I noticed you have a 7yo and 2yo. If your 2yo if anything like mine, velcro and tape don't stand a chance of staying on for more than 5min!! :lmao: It really can't be anything he could actually take off by himself, including a pin or dog tags (unfortunately... I love the dog tags idea!!... maybe when he's older). That's why these disposable bracelets have been great.

When DS was three I typed our names, cell phone # and reservation # in a 1"x1" square on the computer. Then I cut it out, put a Mickey Mouse sticker on the back, and had it laminated. I cut a slit in the extra laminate and slid it onto his shoes (he had velcro shoes). It worked great. It was small. It was out-of-the-way. And he thought it was cool to have Mickey on his shoes.

You are good...I guess that is why you are called "design mom!" Great idea!

I had dog tags made up at WDW. They have machines right there--mine was in Disney Quest but I know there was one in the gift shop that you exit through from the Backlot Tour in MGM. You can choose from several characters and shapes(ours are Tink in a heart and a Mickey head). I put there full name and my cell number. You can purcahse a chain with it for a dollar and it only took a few minutes. The kids LOVE them and were so excited to wear them. They just tucked them inside their shirt and we all felt good! :wizard:

We buy the pins with the kid's name on them and write DW's and my cell phone numbers on the back. Fortunately, we've never had to use this system. DD now knows both our cell numbers anyway.

Quick and dirty way to do it -- write the info on a piece of masking tape and tape it to the bottom hem inside their shirts. It's out of the way so strangers won't know the information is there, but is easy for a child to flip to show an adult (our kids shirts are long enough that this doesn't require them flashing people either :) ).
