Child Hit By Bus Outside of Fort Wilderness

Was just watching the news, and the latest story was that a person (presumably a child) was hit and killed by a Disney bus outside of the entrance to Fort Wilderness.

They just updated that it was a 10 year old boy. I don't think he was on the bus...their updates are kind of general right now.

The article mentioned FW Trail and Big Pine Trail, so isn't that by the first intersection stop sign or by the Settlement stop sign.

Apparently it happened near the 1400 loop.

Very tragic. Until the details are out I can't lay the blame completely on Disney yet. The kids were on bikes. I cycle a lot on roads with traffic and there are things you have to do to stay safe when you are biking on a public road.

There are many drivers who are not very good at interacting with cyclists and many cyclists that are not very good at interacting with traffic. I have seen both.

Regardless of the fault it is sad to have people killed anywhere let alone at Disney.

Oh soooo sad...I'm watching it on our local news now apparently Florida Hwy Patrol will be investigating which is standard but from they're saying it was a 10 yr old & an 11 yr old riding bikes & apparently the 10 yr boy was killed...my heart breaks for the family and the driver

The article says the boys were riding in the same direction as the bus, so either he rode into the path of the bus or the bus for some reason swerved into him? I would think the bus driver could see the boys ahead and he would've slowed down to a crawl as he drove the bus past, just to be safe.
