Will be at WDW for 5 days in early August.

Any advise on restaurant recommendations within WDW particularly at the hotels for dinner would be very much appreciated. DS is 5 and DD is 3.

I thought the AK restaurant would be nice but otherwise I am lost.

We will be staying at BC so EPCOT area restaurants have advantages that I do not need to drive.

Thank you all for your help.

I think most restraunts are kid friendly, but some idea's Cape May cafe, ESPN club on the boardwalk. Take the bus to dtd or to ak and go to the rainforest cafe. Take the bus to the Mk and hop the moneral to the Cr for chef mickey's or the Gf for 1900 park fair. Wispering Canyons over at WL take the boat from the MK or if you can get reservations the Hoop de do at FW you can drive or take the boat from the mk. Have Fun!

Suggest sticking more to the buffets. There is a wide variety and the kids can also eat the adult food so they will always find something to satisfy them.
Go over to allearsnet.com to look over the menus for all Disney restaurants.

For a quick and fun meal with no characters there is an ice cream shop in the Dolphin (a short walk or boat ride) that offers very familiar food (hot dogs, corn dogs, sandwiches) and great ice cream treats. The service is quick and it is very family friendly. Same for Tubbi's in the Dolphin, my kids love it and the food is very familiar home type food, spaghetti, roasted chicken, meatloaf. It is cafeteria style to order and they deliver to your table. I have gotten frustrated with buffets because the kids want to get up and down so much to pick something out that it feels like I don't ever get to eat.

For a character meal in EPCOT our family loved Garden Grill at the Land. The food was great, good character interaction, and you never had to leave your table. We put the kids on the ends, and sat in the middle of a half moon shaped booth. That was probably the most relaxing dinner, just because the kids were entertained watching the characters coming and going, and we didn't have to get up to get more of something to eat.

Garden Grille for sure. My kids are about the same age and this one is not to be missed. I am interested in the replies here as well because I am much more familiar with the MK area restaurants than the Epcot area expert and this time we are splitting our stay and spending 4 nights at YC and I need some more kid friendly ideas as well since most of teh MGM restaurants get a lot of bad reviews, I can't seem to come up with 4 restaurants I feel good about. I'm even thinking of doing Garden Grille twice.

My little ones (2 and 4) enjoyed Chef Mickey's at the CR and the 4 yr old really enjoyed Ohana's. He had great fun with the coconut races, hula hooping and learning a hula dance.

At the Epcot Area resorts, Spoodles (while rather noisy at times) is casual, good for families and has tasty food.

To entertain kids, I'd go Sci Fi Dine In and sit in the cars while watching the old b&w movie trailers. I know people complain mightily about this restaurant, but we think it's great fun and a safe bet if you stick to burgers, onion rings and malts. Don't order anything creative. The atmosphere is great for kids.

I like Marakesh at Epcot for kids. At lunch it's usually quiet and has entertainment -- middle eastern music and an exceedingly lovely belly dancer. The dancer usually has kids come up to dance with her. Makes for some great pictures. Food is unique and tasty.

We like Coral Reef for kids as well. The huge tank with fish is endlessly fascinating. Sometimes, divers come through and feed the fish.

We went late one night to Chefs de France. This was more dependent on the service than the restaurant, but our waitress was wonderful with the kids. The restaurant was mostly empty. She personally moved the kids over to a window table so they could see some of Illuminations through the trees. She was so sweet and lovely with them, it created a magical time somewhat through happenstance and good timing. The food here is very tasty too. One of the best at World Showcase.

At Magic Kingdom, although everyone fights for Cinderella's Royal Table for breakfast, we had a lovely lunch there (much easier to book!). The waiter, David, was marvelous with our 8-year-olds. Completely into character as to period and place -- the kids were princes, he was the king's master servant, etc. The boys were tired when we arrived. By the time we left, he was their best friend. They still talk about him more than a year later, and we're hoping to see him next month when we go. The atmosphere in the castle is fun, and Cinderella and her Fairy Godmother are often in the lobby for visits and pictures.

We also like Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. While I don't care much for the food (lunch is better than dinner here), the food is brought to the table and therefore this is, IMO, one of the least stressful of the character meals. We avoid the buffets whenever possible. At LTT, the characters come to the tables to visit. Also, if a parade is going by while you're eating, there's a nice porch to view it from. And the setting is lovely -- old colonial style with lots of atmosphere.

I also second the suggestion of Rain Forest Cafe, as well as the suggestions for Tubbi's and The Fountain at the Dolphin and Garden Grill at Epcot.
