Child-free, but not by choice?

Thanks for the update Suzanne.

I was just thinking about this thread and all of the people on it yesterday and wondering how people were doing.

The government wrote the form we were waiting on, and we went to our information session. So, we could start IVF with my next cycle (i.e. later this week). Except, we have a big wdw trip, with my DWs entire family, planned for the end of Jan.

I'll call them with my day 1 and see if they are willing to schedule me into the next month. I'm hoping that they'll let me start while I'm in wdw since the first 3 weeks simply require a BC pill and no monitoring. I think they'd be fine with my going away as long as we get everything started before I leave. But, my Jan day 1 will probably be too late if they make me wait until then to schedule it.

fingers crossed!

That is wonderful, I am so happy for you :yay: :woohoo: Lots of luck and pixie dust pixiedust:

Looks like we are need of a big old BUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How is everyone doing???? I think of you all often, but also know that there are times when people don't feel like talking about "this stuff".

As for me....I think I told you before, but we went to 2 adoption agencies to check them out. Of course the agency that we "love" is the more expensive agency!! It figures!! We have to save up (and sell our old house) before we'll have the money, but hopefully the house will sell in the spring, and we can get started on the process!

In the interim, I have 6 frozen embryos left from my last IVF cycle, and we will be using them all this month. I think this is the end of the road as far as IVF is concerned (3 failed fresh cycles, plus the FET), so it will be back to IUIs (just for something to do, lol) while we save for adoption. Once we start the adoption process, we will stop TTCing....which will be weird b/c I can't ever remember NOT TCCing! LOL!!!

How is everyone else doing?????

Nennie!!!!

Good to hear from you.

I don't think I knew you'd started looking at adoption. Please keep us posted (although I understand that it isn't really a speedy enough process for regular updates).

I'm also excited to hear that you got frozen embryos. You hadn't managed to freeze anything before, right? So, I'm going to pray that this is the sign you are about to have success. <fingers crossed>

My own update...they've tentatively scheduled me to start this week. I go in for a scheduling appointment next week and I have my bc pill for the first stage. I don't take anything without calling and getting confirmation that they want me to start, but, I should be underway in the near future.

I've been having a tough time feeling confident about it. If I run the statistics based on my AFC and my clinic's success rates, I should have good odds. But, we thought that 4 years ago when this whole process began. So, I'm afraid to hope and I feel a bit like I've run out of energy for dealing with it.

Hi everybody,

Well of course we gave up TTCing along time ago, but I still dream. I have been having some other issues. I have been having a weird chest pain all this week and ended up in the ER on Thursday night. Happily, they ruled out obvious heart problems, but because they couldn't find anything, they are treating me for reflux, which I don't believe it is and I had a UTI on top of that. I was advised by the ER MD to call and see my PCP, but her stupid receptionist wouldn't give me an appt and I bet she didn't give the doctor my message. I am goingto give her a piece of my mind when I do go in on Wednesday. I am still having trouble, but hoepfully it really isn't something, or I am going to hang a receptionist up by her toenails.

We have been steadily trying to move things in to the new house and finish packing up the old house, but we found a pipe leaking in the front yard today and we spent all day fixing that.

Well, I will pop in later, we are going to get some groceries now and a meal. Dh and I haven't eaten all day and I know that hasn't helped me at all.

i haven't been here in a while but after I read this I had to post and tell you that I will be keepling you in my prayers. That is not fun to go through. Chest pains are scarry. Especially ones that put you in the ER! :scared1: I hope that it isn't anything serious and I'm sorry to hear you have a UTI as well. Those are the worst! :headache: Stupid receptionest. Why don't most of those people know how to do their jobs well!? all they have to do is answer the phones..patch calls through and take messages. It's not hard!!

Anyways, I hope you are doing better since you posted this!

like I said in my previous post...I haven't been here in a while but I wanted to give you all an update on my TTC stuff.

I FINALLY got a referral to an RE. :woohoo: My DH is picking that up for me today. Once I get the referral faxed over to the RE, I'm gonna call and make an appointment. I already got in contact with my OB/Gyn and I have them mailing over all my medical records to my RE. I can't wait to get to the RE and get some real answers and solutions and get my husbands test done. He has been so stubborn about it but I'm thinking that my RE will light a fire under his booty about it.

Anyways ladies, that's the long and short of it. Wish me luck and I will keep you all posted. :thumbsup2

Hi Leger13, I am doing better from that bought anyway. They are treating me for Reflux, but the second medicine my doc switched me to has quit working, but I am going to deal with it. I have to go in to see her on Feb 13 to have stitches removed from my thumb and I will mention it then. Yes, I almost cut part of my right thumb off yesterday while using a utility knife (don't ask), so back to the ER. I am 34 and this is the first time I have ever had stitches and hopefully the last.

Glad to hear you are finally getting an RE appt and I just know you will have great luck. I am learning hubbys can really be stubborn, but from my above note, you can probably tell I am too.

I'm glad to hear you are doing at least a little bit better. :thumbsup2 That sucks that your meds have quit working. Hopefully your doc can perscribe you something better when you see her in Feb. (this year is really flying by isn't it??) And OMG :scared1: about your thumb!!! My Mom did something similar to one of her fingers not too long ago. Good thing you didn't completely cut it off.

aww thank you so much! I really do hope so! I keep hearing of all these women going to the RE and getting pregnant within the same year so I hope that happens to us too. I can't wait to go! haha, I think everyone is stubborn in their own way...just seems like most men are WAY more stubborn sometimes. I'm just glad my husband is finally coming around :thumbsup2

Hi everyone! I just happened across this post (and with 700+ won't be able to read them all! :)) and wanted to add my thoughts.

Disney is a very special place for DH and I. We became engaged there, and go every year, at least once. We had a VERY difficult time TTC. I did not find Disney to be more difficult than other places to go (I would get upset going to the mall or supermarket and seeing a mother with her children). I did get a little extra sad when I saw the parents with their kids at parades, but just tried to hold on to the Disney magic.

We are now the proud parents of 2 beautiful children, both through IVF. On one (or two) of our trips, I was still having post IVF shots! We love taking them to Disney, and are getting ready to go on our first trip alone since our first blessing arrived.

Hang in there! I'm sending good vibes your way. :):flower3:

We were married in 1995.
We can not have children of our own. Disney has not ever made me sad, baby showers always do it to me. Now I just send a gift to showers.

We go to WDW every year & treat our selves like prince & princesses.

We did look into adoption, and then DH was diagnosed with MS, so we thought long & hard and finally came to the conclusion that we were not meant to be parents.

Good luck everyone & follow your heart

thanks for the hopeful words. It's so nice to hear of success stories. Congratulations to you and your husband on 2 children. And hooray for finally getting a trip to WDW just the two of you again! :woohoo: When are ya'll going?

I hear you on baby showers being sad for those of us that can't seem to have children. I think it'd be easier to go to a shower of someone that had to go through fertility treatments than someone that got pregnant naturally. But it would still be hard non-the-less.

I'm sorry to hear that you and your DH cannot have children of your own. I'm sure the choice to not adopt was not an easy one either but you did a good thing by your decision I think. I commend you both.

Thanks for sharing your story. :thumbsup2

Leger-we leave the end of Feb. It will be our first time away. We're excited, and I'm extremely nervous! :)

ahhh how fun! It's coming up so fast!! :woohoo: don't be nervous. Everything will be fine. Just remember, don't even try to do everything while you're there, it's not possible. Just have in your mind that there will be a next time and you can do what you miss then. :thumbsup2

Keep on tryin'. DW and I tried for 5 years and now have 3 kids. Going to WDW on surprise(to DW)trip in May. Have been with kids several times. Any suggestions on what romantical things to do?

wow that's awesome to hear that ya'll have 3 kids now after trying for 5 years. did you have to seek medical help or it just happened? just curious :thumbsup2

what a good hubby you are to surprise your DW with a trip to disney! :woohoo: as for romantical things to do, I would recomend taking her to Victoria and Albert's resturant at the Grand Floridian Resort. It's business casual dress and they just made the rule that no children under 10 years old are allowed. My DH are gonna try that out this September. You could also take her on a horseback ride at the Disney Stables. Hmmmm....If you've got the $ to spare maybe plan a Wishes or Illuminations cruise for the two of you and order a bottle of champain to be delievered to you on the boat. Or, you could do a horsedrawn carriage ride at Fort Wilderness. My DH and I did that on our honeymoon. It was great. :thumbsup2 Oh, or you could also try and plan a couples massage at the spa at the Grand Floridian. I've learned that Romance equals expense at WDW but it's worth it. If you want free, ya'll could always stroll the beach at the Beach Club Resort in the evening. I'm sure there's lots more suggestions out there but those are the ones that I can come up with now. Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

Hello Everyone!!!

I hope you are all doing well!!!! I'm just passing time til my next WDW trip in May! LOL!!

I do have some wonderul news to report! My cousin has 4 children, and she and her DH have decided that their family is complete. Well, she has offerred to be a gestional surrogate for me!!!! My heart is so full that she would even offer something so generous!!!! I get so choked up every time I even think about it! Needless to say, we will be taking her up on her offer this summer! I just can't beleive it! Of course it isn't a sure thing that it will work, but it's the best shot we have!!!! I just had to share my good news!!

Hematite -- How are you?? Are you in mid-cycle right now??? I hope everything is going well!! Yes, we went to the adoption meetings, got all the information, and then got a good old fashioned case of cold feet! LOL!! The agency that I really loved was $30K, and I had to put $21K up front, and then wait for 18month-2years to get matched. I just couldn't do it. So fingers are crossed that the surrogate option works out for us!

Suzanne -- How are you feeling? Is the medication helping the reflux/chest pains?? I hope you are doing well!!!

Leger -- Woo Hoo on getting to see the RE!!!! This is such a big step in the right direction!!! Do you have an appt scheduled yet??? Best of luck to you!!!!!!!

Kimysbug -- Babsy showers do it for me too! It's not so much the opening of the presents, but there's something about a baby shower that every woman in the room wants to start talking about their labor and delivery stories. I send a gift (with my regrets) too!!

Belle -- Thank you for sharing your positive story, and congrats on your children!!

BigDaddy -- Welcome to the Dis!!!!! Have a wonderful trip, such a great surprise!!

Yes, I made an appointment with my RE. I can't wait! Appointment is March 10th. Just before my trip down to Florida to help my BFF with her new baby. haha! Thanks for asking! :thumbsup2 Keep us posted on your situation as well. I can't wait to hear how it all turns out.

First kiddo was IUI on Repronex. Next on Glucophage. Third we're still trying to figure out. THanks for the info on the Romantic stuff. I'd better get to work on that as May will roll around soon enough.pirate:
