Susan what about getting a lace camisole to go underneath the dress. That way you won't feel like too much is showing. Shoe shopping is fun. If I lived closer to you we could find you some great looking shoes together. I know we've had this conversation before...............a girl can never have too many shoes.

Today the kids all have Dr's appointments. The girls are getting their second of the three Gardysil shots and Colin needs the booster for the chicken pox shot he got when he was little. Sound like a fun day doesn't it?

Susan, I'm really bad about styles, accessories etc so I no help with the dress. I bet it's really pretty! the camisole sounds like a good idea.

We're leaving for WDW on Sunday until the following Sunday.

Ugh. Another Tuesday. Sometimes it seems as if I'm going in circles!

I like the camisole idea. I'll look into that. I've got a back-up outfit if I chicken out. Have to get shoes for that too. . .

Last night I got into bed early (10) so I could read for a while. I had just gotten settled into a good reading position when I heard a weird noise from the area of my nightstand. I looked over and saw a HUGE cricket type critter! It was at least 2 inches long with another inch devoted to antenna. I freaked out, threw my book across the room and ran into the kitchen. I then did what any girl would do, I called my mommy. I actually wasn't really particular about which parent rescued me but Mom answered the call (she's not afraid of crickets), scooped the beast into a trash can and saved the day. I'm such a chicken.

Susan - that is so funny! The only things that really bug me (get it?) are ones that scurry really fast or fly toward my head.

Thanks for the birthday wishes - we didn't do a heck of a lot because she won't know the difference this year. Cake/balloons a few puzzles. Next year we'll rent the ponies. She loves Elmo and "Melissa & Doug" puzzles, oh, and stickers..... stickers are currently my interior decoration. I know you're all jealous.

Muffycat - yeah, well on Sunday.. I'm probably going to Sam's Club. So there.

Kailey has turned into such an emotional kid... today she got into the "I do everything wrong" speech. I thought that was reserved for the teenage years.

Fab I went to Sam's yesterday. I stocked up on school snacks since school starts in two days.

I have a "what would you do" type of question for you. My friend is trying to battle a local college that is closing their children's center (preschool/daycare) to turn it into a headstart program. She e-mailed me the letter that she sent to the local paper. It's well written but with lots of typos and grammar issues. It's already been sent to the paper so should I say anything? Do you think the paper will make some corrections before publishing it?

Tricia, you know me enough that the packing doesn't get done until the
9th.
It will be easy - all shorts and tee shirts. We don't get dressed up for anything down there, especially when it's over 90 degrees.

Susan I agree with Joanne. Nothing can be done about the typo's now and I'm sure the paper will make the necessary corrections (at least I hope they will).

Last day of summer is here. I'm not sure what we'll do today. I'll let the kids decide when they wake up.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't say anything, other than tell her that she made good points and sounded passionate about fighting the system. Which is all true.

This has been the longest week in existance! I'm glad we are getting close to Friday.

Tricia - ah, yes.. that series is recommended around age 12, right? OMG, I cannot believe that Friday is the last day of summer vacation for your children! Yikes. What did you do for the big day?

Oh - also, Kailey is moving out of little kids' clothing in a huge way.. she's a 10/12 at this point, leaning toward the 12. What stores would you recommend us buying from next? Obviously, not interested in places that sell "hot stuff" written on the butt.

Kailey took the big plunge and committed to the homeschooling for this year. She's been dealing with me for at least 6 weeks on the teaching front (e.g., I decided that she needed to at least *begin* to learn the proper way to write a letter, which got us reading about and discussing how the US mail system works, plus writing letters). And she put the formal withdrawal in the mail yesterday. I gave her the option to back out, but she wants to give it a shot. And I'm sure I didn't oversell the idea.

It's interesting to have the school calendar mean nothing except fewer teenagers clogging up the road.

Susan - sorry you've had such a long week! I may have asked you before.. but are you on messenger? sometimes I have it running and could make you feel better by telling you stories of say, the fact that my two year old won't go to sleep until almost 11pm.

Joanne - oh, I agree... it's all a matter of throwing in the coolest things at this time of year. And sunscreen. But tell me.. why does every packing list include bug spray? I have never, not once, needed or even considered using bug spray there.

Good morning and happy Friday my friends. Well the day is finally here. Back to school day! I think I'm just as sad as the kids not wanting summer vacation to end. I love having them home with me. Back to the routines, homework, tests, packing lunches. Let me put on my happy face so I can pump up the kids when I wake them. Kelsie is about to leave any minute now but the other two can still sleep for another half hour. I'm back to watching the clock again.

I think they do the Friday thing to get the kids in, school supplies all sorted through, give the kids a big overview of what to expect for the year. Come Monday morning it's hit the books full steam ahead for the week.

FAB I agree with Joanne on the Home Schooling. Once Kelsie hit about 7th grade I was done in with their math. Thank goodness Mark still remembers that stuff. They now don't even ask me any math questions, they'll just wait until he comes home from work and ask him.

Joanne, you can start packing now. Really, it's ok.

I have a Dr. appt at 9:15 this morning so I am dawdling at home a bit longer. It's kind of nice. I don't think I'll miss much work because really what can the Dr. do? He'll look at my arm, see it's still there, I'll tell him it still hurts, and he'll send me on my way.

Anyone excited about the Olympics? I'm not a sports fan but when it comes to the Olympics I'll watch just about anything. I love it!

Muffycat - LOL about the home schooling thing... I would never, ever have thought that I would do it, if you asked me 2 years ago. My BFF once said "best to leave teaching to the teachers" and I said amen, sister.

And look at me now.

I really feel that I had no choice. The public school just didn't work out. I cannot let her continue to slide into a muddle of mediocrity.

I've spent a ridiculous amount of time on Amazon, buying books and workbooks and you name it. Somehow, I believe that if I buy the book, I believe I'll immediately know and be able to teach the material.
7th grade math, however, will be my downfall. I was very good at Algebra, and then slid downhill when we had to do serious geometry.

Susan - what did the doctor say? I love the Olympics, but since I don't do regular, commercial-based tv, I miss most of it.

I've been watching the Olympics all morning, reading during the boring bits. I'm such a slacker. I really need to get some things done.

I didn't actually see the Dr. because apparently he took the week off. The gal claims that everyone was called to reschedule but obviously I wasn't. I was really irritated because I had to be late to work for nothing. Not that I minded being late for work in the work sense but because I lost my lunch hour. I am scheduled for the morning of the 18th. We'll see.

We too have been enjoying the Olympics. Kelsie and I actually watched the Americans sweep the fencing with three medals. I can't say I've ever really watched fencing before but when an American is doing the sport I'll cheer them on.

Right now I'm watching ladies weight lifting.
