Ds has lots of tiny little red raised spots-no pattern-separate and
really small. He had a chickenpox vacination. I think these are
even too small to be flea bites. He does have poison ivy or
similar on his legs-lined raised blister like pattern and some
patchy rash on his forehead. These things all look different.
I put lanacaine/aloe on them last night-he said it didn't help.
Today, I'm off to get Benydryl spray. I've changed his bedding
twice, washed it all in hot. Any thoughts?

Could it be chickenpox. We have not been exposed, that I know
of. His best friend has 2 dogs and a cat, also his basketball
area is very near tall grass-ball rolls in and the boys have gone
in it to get the ball.

Help!!!!!!

I don't know, but my little nephew gets excema (sp). It's kind of red, and scaly a bit. They use some kind of prescription moisturizer on him. :D

yeah, I get eczema too and it's not that. It's hopefully some
allergy reaction to being in the field. I may never know.
If they don't settle down-we'll be in the docs office Tuesday
to rule out contagious disease. School starts Wednesday. sigh

Down here that is what happens when you run through a wooded area. Possibly chigger bites? they are small, random red spots and can happen by the thousand in just a few minutes I swear!

They are itchy and painful too :(

Did you give him liquid benadryl? If it's an allergy, that should help. Has he been in a pool or hot tub, which could have given him folliculitis?

If he does already have poison ivy, I would guess it's a systemic reaction to that, and the sooner you get him to the doctor for a dose of steroids, the better.

I have a girlfriend who has chickenpox for the 2nd time (shes 35), and her vaccinated against chickenpox little girl has them also. I'd see the doctor to be sure.

Usually chicken pox is individual spots (looks more like big pimples) , starting on the torso and then spreading outward. If he had the shot it could be different, though.

My son had a general rash on his body this summer due to me using a different kind of sunscreen on him. After that he was extra sensitive about any sunscreen used on him so I just had to keep him in during the day for awhile until the original rash was better and his skin was back to normal.

Could be that since your son had the poison ivy that his skin is extra sensitive right not, too.

I assume that you made sure that you haven't used any different products on his skin or for laundry lately. I don't use fabric softener for one of my sons because he seems to react to that.

My daughter got chiggers at girl scout camp one year, but I don't remember exactly what it looked like. It was VERY itchy, though.

Good luck and I hope he feels better soon.

That doesn't sound like chicken pox to me. Chicken pox aren't really small.

That said, my then-11yo DS got a mild case of chicken pox even though he'd had the vaccine at age 4ish. He only had about 10 pox, but they took just as long to scab over as if he had more so he still couldn't go any where. At least he wasn't AS miserable as if he'd had a full blown case. Neither of my DDs caught it from him. (They both were vaccinated, too.)

I agree, it sounds too small to be chicken pox. Chicken pox is red and raised splotches, with a little bit of tackiness to it. Could it be a heat rash? I'd give him benedryl to help with the itchies from that and from the poison ivy.

Is his temperature elevated? My son had scarlet fever - it was sort of a lacey rash caused by strep. He really didn't have much in the way of other symptoms. It doesn't sound like this, but it might be something to consider.
