Chicken exits

I went through the pre show on Tower because I really wanted to see it, then I bailed out the chicken door and DH proceeded to the ride.

This is me ... every single time now! I rode once back in 2002, but never again. I do enjoy the queue though. I dread the elevator ride down at the end, I find it very uncomfortable. Not uncomfortable enough to keep me from doing it, though. And way less terrifying than the ride!

I knew there was one on Space Mountain but I had no idea they were on other rides. Thank you for this post!

It’s my understanding that there are “chicken exits” on all Disney thrill rides for guests who experience a queue, but have second thoughts about a ride at the last minute. Can anyone confirm? Is it just a matter of informing the CM at the loading station if you want to utilize this option?
Yes all rides have chicken exit. Even the none thrill rides. Some you will have to walk though the ride like at BTMRR

Yes they exist and I'm pretty sure you have to inform the CM at the loading area if you want out. I love how the chicken exit of ToT is an elevator, don't know why but it really amuses me.
My dd too!! She walked through with us and then told the ToT CM that she didn't want to ride, when we got to the end. Off she went. Well, she was waiting for us down on the first level, by the gift shop. She looked at me, and said "Who the heck thought it was a good idea to use an elevator for the chicken exit, on a horrifying dropping elevator ride???? I mean, seriously!!!' It was too funny.

Well, before you make a decision you’ll regret, I have to tell you that you’re being pulled faster than you could fall, so you’ll get plenty of the weightless, uncomfortable feeling!

PS I hate ToT also, and I used to send DH and DD on it without me. Now that DD is all grown up and doesn’t travel with us anymore, I ride ToT once per trip just to be nice. DH is on his own after that.
Thanks for the info. I can envision myself trying to convince other guests on TOT that my crying, screaming, and ultimately passing out on the ride was just me getting in character to enhance their ride experience.

I was shocked to arrive at AK prior to early EMH opening. Ran into a gentleman from my resort that was on a solo trip & so was I & we ended up in line for FOP together. Decided to ride together & not identify ourselves as single riders. But, after waiting half an hour he bailed at the pre-show room. This is an interesting thread to me. Who thinks that Disney says 'nope, you're in line...you MUST ride!'?

I pictured having to walk against the sea of humanity in the queue while folks flapped their arms and made chicken noises.

As has been mentioned, all rides allow someone to exit without riding. Some have "secret" exit for rides that unload in a different location, and some you would just step through the ride vehicle to the unload side and exit. They will not force you to board a ride vehicle if you don't want to and you can always change your mind up until the point where the restraints are locked. If you got that far, well, you're going for it (and even then if you can get a CM's attention they will probably let you out, and everyone will groan as you hold up the ride).

One additional note, those who do not meet the height requirement are never allowed into the queue at all. They cannot wait with everyone then use the exit and wait on the other side. They will not be allowed in at all. This is a question that sometimes comes up.

Nah, you go out the exit, not back through the entrance.

Funny, I pictured this also. However, I took advantage of this today at Rock ‘n Rollercoaster for the first time, and I actually ended up coming out of the door at the same time a train was unloading, and no one really gave me a second glance as I walked out.

There's a chicken-ish exit on the Haunted Mansion that will allow you to skip the stretching room and meet your party in the queue for the Doom Buggies. If that room is too crowded it can give me anxiety, so it is nice to have the option if they're packing them in. I'm assuming they'll let you skip the whole thing altogether, too, but I'm fine once people start thinning out again in the queue.

Just confirming that there is a chicken exit for FOP and what about Slinky. I rode it in May and cannot do it again but would like to stand in line with the family. Is that possible?

Yes, FOP just keep walking and do not sit on the banchy ( tell the CM that you are not riding but would like to see the pre-show so that they can let someone that want to ride ride.

SDD just let the CM know at boarding the exit is to your left there might be a gate you walk thought

( tell the CM that you are not riding but would like to see the pre-show so that they can let someone that want to ride ride.
That may or may not be beneficial (or standard procedure) for an additional guest to ride with the current group.
With FOP, each person stands on an "assigned number" during the pre-show.
That number corresponds to the banshee in the ride chamber.
(And, the pre-show is somewhat "interactive" to those guests standing in the pre-show room.)
It would be a bit strange for another guest (in line somewhere behind the non-rider) to then walk through the pre-show room and board the banshee without actually seeing the pre-show (which doubles as an "instruction/safety spiel" for the actual riders.

There have been none rider when I have done FOP they have the none rider stand with a member of there party and add a single guest thst was in line

This is why if you know you are not riding but just want to see the preshow to tell the CM that is assigning number you are not riding
