That would be my Maxi-dog!

He is a lab mix who weighs 95 pounds. He is a very friendly dog, especially toward other dogs—loves them in fact. However, twice this week while we were on walks, nasty little dogs scared the heck out of him.

First, we ran into a tiny poodle. They sniffed noses, then the poodle snarled and growled at Max. Max put his tail between his legs and ran behind me for protection.

Then, just a little while ago, we met up with a little Boston terrier. That thing started hissing at him like a cat does! And it went to bite Max, who whimpered and ran behind me.

The thing that kills me is that Max is very scary-looking if you don’t know him. He’s big, black, and muscle-bound, yet he’s senseless of little dogs.

Silly puppy!

Interesting story... Funny how dogs are isn't it? too bad my dog doesn't do anything besides sleep in a box :p

Most of my big dogs have been like that. It's funny, the little dogs always act like big dogs and my big dogs have always acted like little dogs by thinking they could just sit on my lap. Have you ever had a 140lb great dane try to sit on your lap?!

My 4-month-old Great Pyrenees is like that. The other day we were outside and a plane flew overhead (way up in the sky). She got scared and ran to the door to go inside.
She's probably already 40-50 pounds.

One of our dachshunds is terrified of fluffy dogs. If she sees a fluffy dog she freaks. We had her at a dog show once, DH was carrying her when she saw one. She about climbed his shoulder trying to escape. We can only assume that a fluffy dog scared her once at a dog show.

Here's my theory about big dogs and little dogs. I think that when a little dog sees a big dog , the little dog is thinking," Oh, that's how big I am!"...And when the big dog sees the little dog, he is thinking, "OH, OH, that's how LITTLE I am..." :teeth:

Had a greyhound once who after he retired got up to 103lbs, he was big anyway, raced at 89 lbs. Anyways he would eat anything he could find.............one day he decided to try cat food, found him flat against a wall with 4 cats cornering him! It was kinda funny.
I also remember in my youth I would ride my horse past this place that had those little taco bell dogs (I know the name but didn't want to make a fool of myself trying to spell it) Those dogs would come after my horse like it was their next meal, I think little dogs have that Napolean syndrome, where since they are small they have to act tough! I would trust a big dog anyday over a little one.

my brothers 150lb lab is terrified of weenie dogs...it is hilarious. He runs at the site.
