Hey, I need some help. We are going to visit family near Chicago the week before thanksgiving. We were going to watch the parade on Thanksgiving parade, long story short we cant do that so we want to spend one night in Chicago and do some sight seeing but I'm afraid of doing things to young for my kids(16,13,12) Every time we go with the in-laws its the same thing magnificent mile, Navy Pier. If I go to American Girl store again I'll scream:headache:. Thanks:worship:

At that age I wouldn't do Navy Pier in winter; they are largely too old for the children's museum. (In summer the boat cruises are fun for older kids, though.)

I'd focus on the major museums if I were you. Science and Industry and the Field are great fun, as are the Art Institute and the Chicago Historical Society, IMO. They might also like one of the specialty tours, like the Gangster tours or the Music history tours. You could also go ice skating on the rink in Grant Park -- it's fun AND georgeous to skate outdoors with the Lake on one side and the skyline on the other.

Go and look at www.gochicago.com for some ideas.
