I was poking around travelocity a few days ago and low and behold I found airfare from Columbus to Chicago for $68 plus fees so I couldn't pass that up at all. That just means I will be arriving late in the afternoon on the 11th and will be alone on this trip. So since I truly hate eating meals alone, would anyone care to join me for dinner?

I know I usually request Gino's (I'm awful) and that's fine or I am totally up to new suggestions. I am sure I can hitch a ride with someone but the cheapest hotels I found were in the NW 'burbs so I am looking there.

So who's up for dinner?

We'll be driving through there on the 11th on the way up to Canada. We'll be driving through about breakfast time though. BooHoo. ;)

I might be able to join you....I will be in Chicago ahead of my family for my DD's (KrnB) bridal shower on Saturday. While I have tentative plans for Friday evening...I seriously doubt they will happen. I will know at the end of March. But I will be staying at a hotel only a few miles from Woodfield Mall, so dinner might be doable!

In the northwest burbs will be hard for us to get there but I wish you guys a great meet!!!!!

And have a safe trip Elaine!

if i make my mind up o come i'd be happy to join you just point me to chicago pizza

ok it's about 80% official i'm coming and brinnging my other half :)!!! I found a rate I can live with at extended stay america. any good/bad opions on this place?

Patabel that would be so nice to be able to meet you :)

Very cool Juli!!! Never stayed at that place myself (none of them actually). What part of Chicago will you be at?

NW burbs are just a little too far for us this time.

We need to have another SW meet soon!!:D

I've stayed at one the last time I was in Chicago it was nice. Just not sure about this one It's right next door to Cracker bArrel :)

With just a little bit of persuading, I'm going to join in for dinner for the 11th (and probably the meet on the 12th too). Thanks, Dan, for the extra push I needed!:D I'm looking forward to it.

So glad to hear that you will be able to make it Cindy! I look forward to meeting you.

Since I am not from the area, any suggestions on where to eat?

Good question...Cindy, Dan...you know the area. Whacha think?

Well, depending on the size of the group, there is a Sweet Tomatoes not to far from Woodfield. It's more of a buffet place, kind of different but I'm not sure how seating would work for a large group.

In the town I live, there is a place called the Village Tavern...one of our favorites. Along those same lines, and the same owners, is a place called Pilot Pete's. It's right on the little Schaumburg Airport, which is kind of nice to watch planes take off and land (although I don't know how many take off on a Friday night). Also, with it being lent, it might be tough to get into because they offer a fish fry on Friday nights (which is awesome!). I believe they also have a location up in Buffalo Grove.

My DS8 tends to be a picky eater, so when we go out, our choices are kind of limited. So, I'm not much help. Anyone else?

Great you will be coming, Cindy. :) You'll have a great evening, I know it.

What about Gino's East? Visitors always enjoy that place!!!!!!

You know I totally forgot about it being a Lenten Friday. Ginos would work because it would be easy to find a meatless dinner for me (I don't eat fish).

But I really don't care one way or another :)

works wonderful for me. can i bring firecracker with me? J/K fire is my siberian husky
