CHICAGO/O'HARE Meet 11/12/05 - There's a PIC near the end!!!

Thanks for the info! It looks like it's about 30 miles, which isn't too bad I guess.
My DW just went on the Gurnee Mills website and it said they are opening a Disney Outlet store soon! Does anyone know how long before it's going to be open?

Scott, it's about 40-45 minutes between O'Hare-Gurnee with light traffic. I don't know about the Outlet tho. That sounds like something new, as opposed to a Disney Store.

RE: PARTY PACKAGE: IF WE DON'T GET A MAJORITY VOTE FOR, THEN I'M JUST GONNA HAVE TO LEAVE IT AS INDIVIDUAL PAY. DISers DECIDE! ;)

Re: Gino's East party package. Unfortunately, my dh and I decided against the party package, just less expensive for us. Just like to pay individually.

The 4 of us will try to come, can't promise tho. I did already RSVP last week.

Got your possible ressie. ;) Thanks for letting me know about the package, but can I ask, were you planning on getting pizza, or ordering something else? If you're all going the pizza route, I can tell you I think the package is better. If we don't do package, your party size will still be taken into consideration, your drinks (they add up), and anything other than pizza is all yours. ALSO, you should know, they will not give just the four of you a separate check, we'll still be a group, with one check, divided amongst us. (Question: Any accountants in our group??? ;) ) I'm NOT pushing one way over another, as we've never done the package before. Just putting the idea out there because it's available at this location. So I thank you again Rosemarie, for putting your thoughts out here so that we can talk about them, as a group. ::yes::

More thoughts/ideas anyone, everyone?? :confused3

Probable change of plans. As much as I'd like to go to the DIS meet on Nov. 12th, I just bought a plane ticket to go to WDW for Mousefest Nov. 29-Dec. 3 - so I'll have to save my gas/food/lodging dollars for that trip instead. I know you guys will have a blast...so eat lots of pizza for me!

jmho.. the package sounds like a great deal to me.. also easier to manage $$$ with such a large group in attendance.

and I am a lover of soups and salads.. soooo you can go either way for us..

I am easy to please... well most of the time... LOL

Hi again! Okay, is this now at the Gino's that Mark and I went to by mistake one time?? It's on Higgins? Gotta remember *not* to go to the other one!

I think the party package sounds like a good deal. :earsboy:

GO WHITE SOX! :cool1: :cool1:

Donna, while this is the one on Higgins, it's a new location on Higgins, further East from the old one, in Chicago. I think the old location was Rosemont.

***I'll have an update posted soon....check first post in a bit.*** :guilty:

UPDATE 10/24 - I GOT A CALL FROM GINO'S TODAY, AND IT APPEARS WE'VE BEEN BUMPED FROM THE BANQUET ROOM. ANOTHER PARTY IS GUARANTEEING A $600 CHECK, AND I CAN'T DO THAT, OR TAKE THAT FINANCIAL RISK.

SO ANYWAY, IT SEEMS WE'RE BEING MOVED INTO THE REGULAR RESTAURANT AREA, PROBABLY ALL TO OURSELVES IN THIS PARTICULAR SECTION, BUT IT MEANS TABLE & CHAIR SETTINGS AND BOOTHS SURROUNDING THE TABLES. WE'LL HAVE A LOT OF LITTLE GROUPS. (MIGHT BE EASIER FOR MINGLING THO. ;) ) SO, ANY OPINIONS? :confused3 DO YOU ALL STILL WANT TO GO THIS ROUTE?

TIA

Okie Dokie! jmho.. but I think it will be fine.... AND.. Gino's will probably just have to put up with alot of "separate checks" requests right?

I think Chicago Diser's are very good at MINGLING!!

MINGLE, MINGLE, MINGLE!! cha cha cha!

No, they are still viewing us as a group, so I doubt they will want us having separate checks, but I'm not sure. :confused3

The manager asked me 'the occasion'. :rotfl2: Try explaining DISers to an outsider! :rotfl2:

I know this is not the right thread to post on, but I figured all the IL people might look here. There is a new Disney Outlet store now opened in Gurnee Mills. Lots of the regular Disney Store stuff, as well as a ton of closeout stuff. It opened 10/16, but we didn't go until last weekend. The place was a madhouse. :earsboy:

I'd be fine with the package. And I'm mucho happy that it's the O'Hare Gino's! :cool1: This should be fun, my first DIS meet!

Oh, and I am an accountant. (Should I have said that? :ssst: ;) ) I always have a calculator in my purse.

I was just asking about this a few days ago! Thanks for the info. :sunny:

Just wanted to let you know we won't be attending after all. Sorry.

I just saw this thread and I am free that day!
DH is out of town that weekend so count me in!
I'll ask the teenage DD, but I wouldn't count on it...

Package is fine with me.

Yay for Kirsten and Bethany coming!

Can't wait to meet everyone :goodvibes:

I am going to put in my request off tomorrow for work! Also, if we do the one big check thing, my phone has a calculator that can figure in the tip and split it amongst how ever many people.

Great to have you aboard Deb!!! :cheer2: Is this your first meet? :confused3 (tip: cute, eligible teen-age DS will be there) ;)

Kirsten, where've you been?! :confused3 Glad you're coming!!! How many in your party?
