Can anyone help pick out a nice hotel for me? I am planning an overnight shopping trip with friends and want to be able to walk to Oakbrook. I've googled away and haven't come up with much but I know there are several hotels right across the street on 22nd that aren't popping up!:confused3 I made a reservation at the Renaissance for now, but we can't get rooms close together so I want to check elsewhere too. Any ideas?? Thanks!

The Chicago Oakbrook Marriott is just across the street from there. Otherwise I wouldn't really consider anything else walking distance (especially since I don't think there are sidewalks)

Thanks! That's kinda what I was afraid of, but I appreciate the information.

There is at least one hotel on the east end of the mall. Maybe a Stouffers, I don't recall. Check the web site for the mall. Also, there is a great Hyatt at the McDonalds complex about a mile or so from there, if they have a shuttle.
Also, make sure you check out Antico Posto in the mall. A fabulous little Italian restaurant.

The old Stouffers is now a Westin & it looked open last week. It is right on the edge of the mall I believe.

The Oakbrook Marriott is closed. The one in the parking lot of the mall is the Renaissance Hotel. Can't beat the location.

I suggest the Oak Brook Hills Marriott, you do have to drive about 2 miles, but its a lovely resort, although more of a summer place than a winter place (outdoor pool on the golf course). We spend about 6-7 weekends there are our mini get-a-way.

ETA: I just checked about the Oakbrook Marriott and it is no longer closed, it was closed all summer for rennovations and wasn't aware that it is open. The old Stouffers is the Renaissance, not a Westin, I think the Old Hyatt on Spring Road is now the Westin.

The Rennaissance is a parking lot away from Nordstroms in them mall. That is the closest one and used to be the Stouffers. The Marriott is across 22nd street. The Doubletree used to be the Hyatt and this is also just across a road from the mall.

The new Westin is at Yorktown Mall about 2-3 miles west of Oakbrook.

You sure about the Marriott being closed? I was just past there a week ago, and, it comes up on the company site. Are you thinking of the Hyatt on the east end?

Well, from you kind folks and the google site, I was able to put together that:

The Marriott has 2 hotels there. One is across the street (kinda across from Marshall Field's and Neiman Marcus). It is crescent shaped. The other Marriott is the Renaissance, which used to be Stouffers.:thumbsup2

The Hyatt was at the McDonald's campus. I think it's still there. I didn't check into it because I wanted to be closer.

There is a Doubletree across the parking lot/street from Nordstrom. This may have been a Hilton before :confused3 I wish I could see the walk from there.

Anyway, we're booked at the Renaissance for now. :) Thanks!

Edit to add that Nuke is correct about a new Westin nearer to Yorktown Mall, which, BTW, I saw in November. Wow! What an improvement that place has had since I lived there 13 years ago! I used to live at Highland Apartments years and years ago.
