When I went to Chicago a couple of years ago I bought a city pass. If I remember correctly it included all the museums, Sears Tower, John Hannock bldg etc. anyway it was a great deal and cheaper than buying tickets at each location. If you go to Navy Pier I recommend doing the Sea Dog boat tour it was a blast and riding the huge ferris wheel.

All of your ideas are great. I will continue my research. The City Pass, bus tours and the boat ride all sound great. I am going to call the board of tourism and have them send some info. My kids love to help in the planning.
