meant to quote you in my above post and Happy Birthday to your Nephew!
Thanks, Fin! He's three. Not a Cubs fan. Yet.

PERFECT age to start molding him, lol....
I can't say I'm disappointed but I did think this might happen. I'm not a baseball guru like Fin (!) but I do know it's not uncommon for the WS champs to not perform at quite the same level the next year.
I think most people - including other teams - were happy for the Cubs. But now they're all gunning for them.
Do I expect them to win every game? Nope. But I do expect them to get back up and give 100% next time. We'll see how that goes tonight.
Ummmm, I'm no Guru..not even close~ just born into a baseball family (my Dad always coached and then started a Started a Semi Pro team/ scouted for the Phillies a few seasons) Like anything else, once the hunger has been satisfied it's even tougher to recreate. The Dynamic of the team also changed some..these guys are SO young to be in the limelight 24/7 now. That's why having Lester, Lackey, Jay, Riz (but that guy is stretched about as far as a human can be with appearances, charity, endorsements) around huge..to get them to stay focused on the game , get back to the love of the game. Cubs Organization holds these guys to a very high standard off the field as well.
Joe was getting crucified for changing up the batting order before, now people are screaming for him to shake it up again. Huge difference in the pressure of getting on top to STAYING on top.
FYI~ Robin would be the resident Guru
ETA: I'm not disappointed in the least..but I can say I am wowed by the level of power in the baseball world right now...stats off the charts for hitter's, dynamic out fielding..look's like the World Champion Cub's team set the bar pretty high, lol. I love seeing smart baseball, and strategy. Yes, the Cub's have had a huge target on their backs and have been under the microscope, many other teams emulating them. Smarter comes into play now...along with the We Never Quit
