Cubs won't want the length contract Jake will be after~if Jake is willing to accept shorter years I can see the Cubs paying but Jake starting to enter injury territory (knock on wood) but he does take amazing care of himself. Cubs also have to time Rizzo/Bryant deals as those WILL be paid, lol

If they're going to go out and sign someone to replace him (on his level), then I'm fine with that. What would irritate me is if they let him walk and don't replace his productivity (i.e. maybe make Montgomery a starter or something along those lines). That's not going to go over well with fans.

Well Lester and Lackey on their last contract year as well so while Cubs have money...they are looking at a LOT of upcoming purchasing. I think they were hoping Rob Z was going to be stronger..as Robin said, time is going to tell, on everything. Monty showing he can go 4 if he has to so yeah, he is obviously on the track. Zobie only has 2 years left too...that switch hitting will have to be a priority.

Lackey definitely is out after this year unless Cubs maybe sign him to a 1 year deal if they can't get anyone else. Hendricks probably shifts up into the 2 slot if they don't resign Jake. Then who? That lineup of pitchers isn't going to win anything which is why I'm adamant that Cubs either make a big trade or a big signing for a TOR.

Zobie has 2 years left after this year and then he will definitely retire.

Hitting really isn't a priority for the Cubs right now, they've got everything covered for quite some time. They really need to address their pitching though and sooner rather than later. You can't enter 2018 with a makeshift rotation.

we all know pitching to issue...even when the Cubs think they have filed in the holes it doesn't seem to quite get there. Yes, Zobie will retire as a Cub and I am quite pleased with that. At 36 (7?) he is hustling tho. Lester will retire as well and I am hoping he and Rossy are going to be management with the orginization (looks like Rossy is def on that track) Hitting can't take a back seat...that's why I hope we can keep Happ somehow~ switch hitter, scrapper, and affordable for us, but dang , he is just as valuable to trade and there is always a line for the OF , lol. Great problems to have.

Good Lord Cubs. Pittsburgh is 0-3 on the road this season with a -19 overall run differential. And you score 2 runs off these bums?

Zobrist is really struggling this year. Wonder if we're starting to see some age related decline.

Exciting bottom of the 9th today, GREAT HUSTLE all game...the Cub's never fail to make me love watching them! I sure hope Rizzo's leg is o.k.~he REALLY felt that one . Cole took the win the last time he pitched against the Cub's, just need to take the next 2! Tomorrow will be beautiful weather -wise. We were test driving a boatload of cars and I just gonna say they are all set to 670 am the Score radio lol...I was catching what I could of the game. Duensing just off the DL, other than the few pitches he made yesterday~ Welcome to Wrigley as this his first outing on a swirlwind day. Not gona blame the homer on him too much..sounds like the wind helpd a few of those bombs land where they did. He was brought in to cover for CJ, who my heart breaks for. In Maddon's words:

Would be interesting to see AAJ and Zobie in lead off on days each plays, having Bam Bam take the 4th. I have to say I am almost giddy over JHey. He has been placing the ball wherever it needs to go for the most part, getting the guys in, I thought maybe today was going to be his day when I heard the wind. Pedro, help me help you to keep from putting your first batter on , lol.

Bullpen-wise, I am liking what I see in Grimmer so far..something more mature about his delivery, confidence level. I like it. Rondon (knock on wood) given us some really good innings and Monty and Oh not concerning me so far. CJ of course our string- bean- slinger who we can depend on . My jury is still out on Davis. I'm giving him time to settle in, find his comfort zone. I am pretty confident he will work out.
How about KBOMB x2?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! His first of the season. TOLD YOU he was saving it for Wrigley. Addie..wow he is on fire! He filled out in muscle in more ways than one! That guy is going to bust wide open and again, he's OURS!

The wind was blowing straight out today. I've rarely seen it that strong. You really can't fault the pitching today. Some of those homers would have been simple pop ups any other day.

I know Zobie doesn't seem like an option on paper, but it may be a shake up that helps him as well. Joe will keep #12 there tho, guys need to get in a rhythym.. and still so early in the season. If we had to drop 2, I'll take them from the Buc's all day to keep the W's we took on the Dodger's. Cub's tend to take the tougher teams and drop to the one's most think are no-brainer's.
