Chicago Cubs fans - Rebuilding Year 2023

Woot !

I'm a cardinal fan but rooted for the cubbies all this season

How can you not love them !

Appreciate that but you must be one of the few. I've been reading a few Cards boards and most of them are rooting for the Cubs to lose in the most embarrassing way possible. I saw a few celebrating over Chapman's minor ankle tweak in the 7th inning hoping it was more serious. Pretty sick stuff.

Maybe Baez should lay down a bunt everytime then? As that has a better chance of success than him swinging at balls a mile in front, or to the side, of home plate.

As for JHey, he overran the ball, and then had to recover. So it was a neat catch, he made it harder than it had to be, but is his defense worth $160 mil (with absolutely no production at the plate), nope.
Heywards defense is 100% worth it.Proved it again tonight.

So when DS and I were at Sundays game (street rat style lol)a photographer captures us right after KB's homer. crud,,,having trouble posting it correctly..oh well his facebook is Photographer Alex Garcis if anyone want to see his 360 videos . cool stuff.
1 game. There is 1 GAME LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO PROUD of these Cub's!!!!!
Coming back from 3-1 to tie...what a team!
Tomorrow's game will be one for the books, lol. Going to see a revolving door of players from both teams. What a blast.

I will be smiling no matter what, we get this team for a long, long time!!

His defense is world class but not worth $23M per year with absolutely no offensive production.
Guess we will have to agree to disagree. Every pitcher we have can do what they do knowing JHey is out there. His salary is $184 btw. While his offense is lacking in postseason, he was hitting .230 in the regular. Stellar ? nope. But not "no offensive production".

One game at a time. One inning at a time. Tomorrow is a new day. None of the fake stats count for anything. We're going to take it all tomorrow. Our batters know Kluber's pitches by now. Go Cubs Go. Fly the W. My flag is out tonight. Again. We won three in a row to win the Pennant. We can do it again.

Yes I knew it was $180+ but we've already paid 1 year of it so I've been saying $160.

and gotta say, loving Rizzo's Rocky strategy lol! When that played Sunday night...only thing better was hearing the crowd and Pat call "CUB'S WIN"

so let me ask you this..you want him benched? You want Soler out there these last 2 games? Not me. No hate to Soler, he got 2 hits, had a great play at 3rd, but his defense would not have been there these last 2 games.

well I guess they have nothing better to do with their free time..you know, since they don't have their own team to watch any more.

He shouldn't be starting games. If the Cubs jump out to a lead, you can sub him as a defensive replacement. Soler doesn't field as well as Heyward but his arm is every bit as good as Heyward's. That throw that Heyward made, Soler would have made it as well.

Maddon should have had LaStella on his roster instead of Rondon (since he's not using Rondon). That was Maddon's first mistake. For tomorrow, we don't really have much choice. I expect a very low scoring game with runs at a premium so defense is #1 for tomorrow so Heyward stays.

But I tell you what, Heyward is in some deep poo for next year unless he gets it together. Schwarber will be in LF next year. Soler will be competing for an outfield spot. I'm not sure if we re-sign Fowler or not. The Baez/Zobrist thing needs to be figured out. Baez will probably be the starter but Zobrist's bat needs to be in the lineup so he will also be competing for an outfield position.

In the NLDS he got crap for not bringing enough pitchers and literally ran out of them in Game 2 (I think). I was at the game in question and scoring it and there was just one reliever left in case we got into trouble went into extra innings. I think Maddon has Rondon in his back pocket for just this game. Remember, he was our closer for most of the season and he has 18 saves to his name. While Maddon uses Chapman as a middle reliever (much like the Indians use Miller) he has Hector waiting in the wings to finish things off if Chapman can't.

I also disagree that it's going to be a low scoring game. It takes a while, but the Cubs eventually figure out any pitcher. No doubt that Kluber's a stud but our guys are now on a ROLL. They have to play the same way they played last night and get out early with some runs.

In any case, it's all hands on deck tonight!
