I just made a last-minute reservation for the Hyatt Regency on Wacker (for $59 Priceline :cool1:). Do you know of a decently priced authentic pizza place to go near here? Also, we are looking for other cool stuff to do. We are only staying tomorrow night then leaving around 7pm on Wednesday. We will have 2 adults and a 4, 8 and 11yo with us. Thanks for any input :goodvibes

We were up for Black Friday and hit Pizza Dos (?sp can't quite remember but it seems like it was right near Uno). It was good pizza and it seemed like it was in an old speakeasy. Great atmosphere but not cheap. As for it being near wacker, not a clue . We just parked and walked, stopped when we were hungry and what was near.

I think the PP means Uno's and across the street is Due. The Original Gino's East is also downtown -north and I think there is still a Giordano's too and Edwardo's. All are priced about the same. My personal favorite is Edwardo's.
Fun stuff...maybe a Chicago River boat tour, check out Millenium park, Buckingham fountain....Shedd, Field Museum.....

Lou Malnati's is our favorite - but I don't think you're going to find anything cheap downtown. Google you hotel and you can expand the search to show restaurants, pizza places, etc. It will also give you a mapped location to reference.

I was just going to give two thumbs up for Lou's! It is by far our favorite pizza. Their website lists all of the locations, maybe you can figure out if any are nearby your hotel. Happy eating!

I like Geno's East. It's a 1/2 block east of Michigan Avenue in the middle of all the shopping. I forget the cross street. It won't be the cheapest pizza ever - but is totally worth it. I love Chicago deep dish pizza!

If you have a yearly membership to your local museum/science museum/children's museum - check to see if they have reciprocity with the Field Museum and Museum of Science and Industry. We got in free that way. There are additional experiences you can purchase as an add on, but there was so much to see that was included in the basic admission that we didn't feel a need to pay more.

Another suggestion is to ask at the concierge desk at the hotel. They will be able to recommend restaurants in whatever price range you give them that will be within walking distance. When we stayed at the Palmer House, they had a 1 sheet printout with several listed including walking directions.

Two weeks ago I would have given Gino's East 2 thumbs up. After this last weekend, I would give it 2 thumbs down.

From the girls at the front door, to the waiter to the busboy, everyone one of the above were beyond rude. We were a party of 18 and everyone felt the same exact way.

Try another place if you want to go someplace that the people have manners. To say I was surprised is an understatement.

Like a pp said, you won't find anything cheap downtown! I can, however, recommend a non-chain, family owned place. It is called Boni Vino's and is near the LaSalle St. station. It might be a bit of a walk, but it is worth it if you are looking for a non-chain place. All of the previous places mentioned are good, though.

nothing cheap, but it is all good. take the money you saved on your hotel and live it up a little.

Gino's East! Yummy! Then you can walk across the street to Ed Debevic's and get a yummy malt for dessert-or the world's smallest sundae if you're full!

More thumbs up for Lou Malnatis. I miss it so much since moving to SoCal. Although, I have finally found authentic Chicago pizza out here, it is still not the same. Lou tends to be more in the suburbs though. I also like Unos or Dues when downtown.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We ended up going to Lou's and it was terrific! The kids got the peperoni and my friend and I had the Lou's pizza :thumbsup2 So yummy!!
