I ended up taking down one of our Christmas trees yesterday.
Stephanie wasn't happy about it :sad2: but I told her that I had to take advantage of being home on a Saturday with no plans, and get it done!! I did leave the living room tree up, and that will stay up until the middle of January. It's not in anyone's way, and it does look great!!! :goodvibes

Mac - Thanks for telling up the email notification, the same thing happened to me, but I didn't notice it until I read your post. We may have to resubscribe to each thread we are subscribed to :)

HERSEY - Both the girls LOVED their gifts from Santa, especially Stephanie!!:goodvibes Katie was sad about not getting her kitchen, but I kept telling her that Christmas isn't over, and there's a big box under the tree from me and daddy. When she opened that box, she was overjoyed:yay: :yay: She's not happy about taking it to the store, but she doesn't understand that she's there more than she's home

I think we are planning on staying home again today, and just veggie out in front of the tv. My one friend with her kids may come over earlier, but it will be brief as they are passing through to go home (she lives in Lake in the Hills, not around the corner).

Have a good day today!!!!

I just have to share this with my friends...........................

CONGRATULATIONS SLO

looks like you're running with the big doggies now.
12K way to go!

This is now 12,001 post :teeth:

Man is it foggy out here - how about by you guys???
I was shocked when I got up this morning.

So what does everyone have planned today?
I decided to keep Katie at home, and I'm praying that I can get her to sleep longer at home than if she were at daycare. I have nothing going on here today, so it should be nice and quiet (unlike Christmas Eve where there's alot of preparation).
I do have to go out this morning and visit the shop - I have to show them what to do when taking the Christmas decorations down. Plus I would like to wish them Happy New Year.
Than I have to go to Jewel and get Kevin's birthday cake.
So, not much going on - it's great!!!!

Who's all staying up till midnight tonight?
We all will be, even the girls.
Both sets of parents are coming over, and we have alot of snacky type food we are eating this year. In the past we did a meal, but we decided to do this instead. I love snacky food - it's always a little more fun. Plus you can eat on the go, which is good, since we are karoking tonight :cool1:

Well, I gotta run and jump into the ol shower
Have a good day today, and a great, and safe night with whatever you do
Happy New Year my friends - I love you all!!! :grouphug:

Thanks for the congrats Mac!!! :goodvibes

i haven't found that the dis is faster or more efficient since they did the change last night.

it still takes too long to post a message.
the worse thing that is happening to me now is i am not receiving the sub notices in my email box when there is a new post on this thread. or any thread.

Me either! Glad to see it's not just me. There are times it's faster but I would come check and be :confused3 that threads I know I'm subscribed to would have new messages but I never got my e-mail notification. That's annoying.

What is everyone doing for New years?

I don't really have any plans for tonight. We always stay home in the evening unless absolutely necessary to drive, don't want to chance driving with some of the crazies that might be on the road.

Man is it foggy out here - how about by you guys???

So what does everyone have planned today?
Who's all staying up till midnight tonight?

It's really nasty foggy out here. I was planning on going to Woodfield today as I want to check out the Lego store. That's where DS-10 wants to take a couple buddies for his birthday but we've never been. I want to make sure it's worth the drive.

The plan was for my mom to be dropped off after helping take my aunt to the doctor's appointments. I was hoping the fog would start lifting once the sun started rising but it looks like it's going the opposite direction. It looks worse now than it did when I first woke up, so I'm not really sure *what* we are doing now. It's not that I really have to go to the mall, so not sure it's worth it to put myself out there in limited visibility driving situation. I'm still hoping it will start lifting by the time my mom is done. It won't be until after 10 am.

I don't know if I will be staying up until Midnight or not. I probably will just because I tend to do that on a regular basis but we are going to Museum to catch the Star Wars exhibit before it leaves tomorrow & we want to go early to see if we can catch the Millineum Falcon thing since we weren't able to last time. I don't really want to be too tired & cranky all day just from staying up & then having to get up early (although who knows, I'm usually awaken by 6:30 - 7 with the kids *anyway* even when they don't have to be up that early!).

Mac!! I saw your clip art and the words "big doggies" and had to do a double take! Then I realized they were eyeballs!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Congrats Slo!!

I didn't get my email notification either, so it must be broke. I did resubmit my notification preferences for this thread to see if that helps. My guess is that Alex is still tweaking things. He added some serious hardware upgrades, so we should see some definite improvements soon. As he gets things fixed, we probably won't really notice until we look back some day and realize that all the things we used to complain about haven't been a problem lately. ;) Trust me, that's usually how it works.

I'm still not getting my Dis email's on well maybe new year. :rotfl2: Couldn't resist.

Everyone

Hi all-

Slo- Congrats on your 12,000 posts!!:cool1: :dance3: :yay:

Becky- did you make it to Woodfield today? I was at Woodfield early this afternoon. I didn't go to the Lego store, but my family and I went shopping at Penney's, we needed to buy Matthew nice slacks for his band concert in a couple of weeks.
Still crowded at Woodfield, but it wasn't extremely crowded.
We went into the Disney store. Had a giftcard I got last yr. So we bought the Birnbaums 2008 WDW planning book!! Didn't even think about buying the book until I noticed a copy laying around there.

Yes, we got there a little after 2 pm. We didn't stay too long because the snow had started. People were getting us a little paranoid. We did go to the Lego store -- it was *way* smaller than I thought it would be. We did get DS-10 his birthday present though. My mom & I went in together to get him a thing he wanted. DD was happy that we were able to get a code for her Build-A-Bear! She couldn't find it before we left & she wasn't sure if she could get one to go on-line without her bear. I found them sitting at the counter, so was able to grab a flyer with that for previously made bears.

My dad had called me on my cell phone because apparently my mom didn't hear hers. He was telling us "you know it's snowing"; then we overheard others saying "it's snowing outside" & just the way they said it, we decided we had better leave to make the trek home. We were heading at the mall's exit by 4 pm -- took me over an 1 1/2 hours to get home (Mapquest says it's a 30 min. drive). There was a bad accident on Golf road near a Forest Preserve -- I'm sure the cars just slid but it made it harder to manuever. There were 2 police & then 3 fire trucks showed up while we were just trying to get through the light. I was driving rather slowly because it was hard to see where the road *was* plus the fact that it was slippery & I'm not familar with the roads. Of course, so was everyone else.

I'm hoping the snow tapers off & the roads are clear by tomorrow since we are to head into the city. As of right now, our side street isn't even plowed and we are usually one of the first ones done! Of course, the fact that there is no school the next week has probably made us less of a priority. :rotfl2: I know ours has a lot of school busses that go through here, so seemed we were at the top of the list right after the major roads. Always makes it fun when I hear the snowplows going by several times in the middle of the night waking me up each time they go by with the lights flashing & their rumblings -- that's how I know we are definitely a priority because it's never a 1 time plow thing. In our old house, they would do the alleyway to the driveways one time & the road maybe twice until the next storm rolls along. I never had to worry about the trucks coming through several times.

I had wanted to go visit the Disney Doorway to Dreams store but we never got to that part of the mall and I figured it wasn't all that important anyway with the kids being dragged along. All the other stores we wanted to visit were basically next to each other.

Happy New Year Everyone!!!:cheer2:

Good evening everyone.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Just had to put that up there now because I will forget tomorrow. :lmao:
We spent today at Deep River Water Park in IN. They have an ice rink in one area. The kids had a blast. Then they had a countdown and sparkling cider for the kids at 8. The snow was really coming down over there.
It was a slow drive home and we saw a couple cars in the ditch and one accident. :sad2: It was a nice day for us as a family. Now we are in our nice warm home waiting for the countdown on TV for midnight. Kids are determined to make it til the new year!! Don't know what they think will happen. Just another day.
Slo, congrats on your many posts. Don't think I'll ever get that far. Not that I wouldn't enjoy trying. Just spend more time lurking than posting.
Rose, enjoy your book. Check out your library too for the other travel books on Disney. I found the one Disney With Kids by ?first name, last name Wiley, to be one of the most helpful. I loved reading those while planning the next big trip. Made it so much more exciting.
Mac, much snow by you?
Becky, did you make it onto the Millenium?
Well, I'd better get down to watch the ball drop with the kids.
Again, Happy New Year all you wonderful Dis friends.

Becky, did you make it onto the Millenium?

Nope! I knew I had an early morning today, so went to bed & was in a dazed state when DD came in and said "Mom...I need my brace on". Oops...we had forgotten to put her back brace back on after shopping. I'm usually *very* good at remembering that. So, after I got her into that, I looked at the clock to see if it was midnight yet & it was only 11:30. I was too tired to stay up the 30 more minutes. :lmao:

Of course, we were supposed to have already left to go to the museum but I woke up with a nasty headache & just dragging...so I took some Excederin and waiting for it to kick in. It pretty much HAS but I still have a bit of a headache still so this must be a huge one as it's the Exederin Migraine stuff & that usually kicks *any* headache I get completely. DD just got up (considering I was dragging, I didn't have the energy to go nag her until just now). The boys are up & I just need to get them dressed. I'm at least dressed, going to finish my tea and then we will head on out. I *knew* I was smart to make our tickets for the afternoon since we are so not morning people. I had wanted to leave at 8 AM -- only going to be leaving about an hour later. ;) If it weren't for this headache, we could have been moving a whole lot faster. It should be an interesting day, I wonder just how slow I can go while there? I'm hoping the caffeine that's in the pills will perk me up some (usually it does!). At least that's the one advantage of having a membership -- it's not so critical to "get our money's worth" by going from open to close or anything like that.

I hope everyone had a fun, safe holiday last night.

We did - it was nice, and very low key
Kevin and I didn't get to bed until almost 2am :faint:
Thank goodness I was able to sleep in today, and I did, until 9:30am:eek: This is the first time I've been able to do that for over 10 years. I actually could of stayed in bed longer, because everyone else is still in bed, but I wanted to get up and have my quiet cup of coffee and DIS for awhile :surfweb:

Becky - I"m sorry you woke up with a headache today :guilty: I hate it when that happens. Here's some PD to help it go away quick, and for you to be able to have a fun day at the museum today :wizard: :wizard:

Rose - Enjoy your new book!! I love those books, and I call them my WDW Bible :teeth:

Crissup - How's Carol doing? Tell her we are thinking of her :grouphug:
