SK8LEIGH...We are going to WDW October 2007 and next December 2008, but I am trying to fit in a 6 night trip to DL inbetween if DH will go for it! I was trying to get some info about DL, but it does not seem that they are quite as chatty :hyper2: as the WDW peeps...what do you think? They are plenty nice, but there is just not that much going on on the DL boards...

Crissup Sorry to hear what happened with your credit card!! At least Circuit City called you and let you know. I would think about cancelling out that card if Citibank is not as on top of thing as your Chase.

texasteacher Sometimes questions on the DL threads can take a little more time to be answered. A lot of the people who hang out on those boards are locals too. But they are all nice peeps!! :thumbsup2
We just went to DL in April during spring break.

Here's what I packed in my box that I sent ahead. Some things I pack up because I know I will have the box available to me BEFORE my luggage gets delivered from the ME:

the kids inflatable swimmies, beach ball and goggles
every one's fanny packs
Halloween decorations, masking tape, scissors
extra batteries
the extra cell phone charger
small flashlights for the kids for use in dark rides or at night at the parks to look at the park maps
Goldfish crackers, granola bars, individual cereal cups (my little guy just loves cereal for breakfast)
paper plates and napkins
an insulated backpack for drinks to bring to the park

We are staying at Fort Wilderness cabins and will have use of a full kitchen so I also packed a small bottle of syrup and one of those Bisquick pancake mix shake bottles. :teeth: ........ even though I also placed an order with Garden Grocer for some odds and ends too. ;)

I would pack extra baby wipes in your box. Any extra blankets you like to bring for him, like if you are going to use a pack and play at the resort.
You could also pack swim diapers and other swim related items.
I've packed extra shoes, Crocs, in the box too. Handheld fans, mister bottles.
Water bottles, juice boxes/pouches.

Anything and everything can be packed in a box and sent.
It saves me the hassle of lugging around an entire extra suitcase filled with odds and ends.
Just make sure that for the things you will be bringing home that you have the extra space for in your luggage. I have expandable luggage so it works fine for us.

Thanks for all the info on packing the box... I am defintely going to included sveral of htosethings...extra wipes, I hadn't even thought about that! Duh, to me! You would not think I have been a mom for 12 years...super duh!

I cannot wait to get to MNSSHP...my DD12 is super excited, my DS2 doesn't know what I am talkingso excited about all the time! He has no idea! I keep telling him we are going to meet Mickey and all his friends...he is ahuge fan MMCH on Playhouse Disney!

Sorry about not checking in yesterday.
The DIS was down when I woke up yesterday morning, and then I didn't have an opportunity to post during the afternoon.
I hate it when the DIS is down when I wake up. This is the 2nd time in a couple of weeks that this has happened - what's going on????:confused3

Becky - I"m sorry your DD's voice was scratchy for her try-outs:guilty: I hope she makes the choir :wizard:
**I'm sorry to hear about your DD's asthma:guilty: So many hugs to her  she has been going through so much

piglet - Thanks for thinking of me :) Having this issue with my hands really does stink, but it's something I have to live with:rolleyes:

Bunchkin - My family doctor is always concerned about my hands (whenever I see him for something, the first thing he looks at are always my hands). The actual neurologist I don't see anymore, but I could if my hands started to get worse, and unlivable. The only thing the doctor could do is medicate me, but the last time he did that, it dropped my blood pressure frighteningly low, where it made me not well at all. I guess there's another medication I could take, but it won't make me feel well either, that the doctor suggessted that I put up with my hands as long as I can until I can't take it anymore:rolleyes: Thanks for asking :)
**I"m glad Lauren is starting to feel better :goodvibes I think the kids at our kids schools are thinking alike, because Stephanie also came home from school Thursday talking about the Vanessa Hudgens scandal:rolleyes: I also didn't tell her anything about it, so for her to hear this was new news. I told her that what she heard was true (about the pictures), and it's not true about her getting fired (at least not yet), and that she made a really really bad choice - STephanie agreeded!!!!! :thumbsup2
**How are you feeling today? Is your cold gone yet? I sure hope so :wizard:
**congrats to Lauren for getting accepted into that club at school :cheer2: that great!!!
**How are things going for Hunter on the bus? Did he or the other boy get moved? Is he still getting bothered? I sure hope not.

paint - bobble head cake toppers sound fun :) You'll need to take a ton of pictures for us to see when the wedding is here!!! :goodvibes

Leigh - I"m glad to here you are starting to get settled into your new home :goodvibes

wdwnut4life -:cheer2: WELCOME!!!! :cheer2:
Please come by and visit often - we would love to get to know you!!!!

texasteacher - I couldn't agree more with what Bunchkin posted about what to put into the box ::yes::. I understand about traveling with a picky child - my 4yr old DD is like that, and always has been - her first trip to WDW was at 13 months.

Crissup - I'm sorry to hear about your credit card:mad: The same thing happened to us last week. Someone got Kevins AMEX number and charged an exorbanent (sp?) amount on the card. The account didn't get canceled, but Kevin did get a new number and a new card ::yes::

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, that's about it from me!!!
Have a great day today everyone!!!!

Afternoon all!!

Where is everyone hiding lately? This thread is turning into the dead zone lately!!

And I know a lot of you are just lurking......including the regulars too!! Shame on you all!!! ;) :rotfl:

slo Lauren is feeling better. Thanks for asking.
Hunter got moved to a new seat and is by himself which he prefers!! :rotfl:
That's a shame that Stephanie heard about the Vanessa Hudgens thing at school too! :sad2: Good grief!!
I'm keeping good thoughts for you that your hands do not get any worse!!:wizard:

texasteacher My DS loves MMCH too!! How late do you think your son will be able to stay up till on MNSSHP night before he crashes in the stroller? :) Last year my son, who was a little over 4 yrs old, made it to about 10:30pm. He woke up shortly to get the bus to POR and then fell back to sleep on the bus. Do you they costumes they are wearing?

paint A bubblehead cake topper sounds great!!! I would love to see a pic of it if you go with it!! :thumbsup2

I hope everyone is enjoying the weather!
I was across the street this morning to the neighbors who is having a garage sale. I intended on doing all this packing and odds and ends today but ended up over there for over 2 hours!!!! I had no clue what time it was!!!! :rotfl2: We were just busy visiting and chatting away!! :rolleyes1

Have a great evening all!!! :wave2:

Well....as for me...I've decided my son officially gave me his cold and well my brain is whacked. So, yes, I've been lurking but figure I'm not too coherent (so who knows if this post will make any sense!).

I decided to take a mini-nap while the little guy was at "rest time" -- I've resorted to calling it rest time vs. nap time because if I say nap time he gets a little cranky about it but rest time is OK. :lmao:

Anyway...off I went to just rest my eyes (set my alarm just in case) and all of a sudden I startled myself awake realizing it was way too light out for it to be 6:30 AM and thought I totally overslept for getting the kids to school. Look at clock -- 1:30 -- oh wait...they are already at school and yes, yes, that's correct I'm taking a nap -- now I remember and no I haven't overslept. :lmao:

I'm all stuffed up and my throat is starting to hurt a bit, etc... so I think it's official, they shared. I might have to actually drink some of the Orange Juice that is in the fridge (I absolutely do not like Orange Juice but will tolerate if if I know I have a cold because it does help with that. I just have to make it extremely cold & drink fast). That's how the kids know I'm serious about feeling lousy with a cold if they see me drinking OJ. They are so much better at drinking any type of juice than I am. :lmao:

Today DD finds out if she made the extra choir -- I'm figuring she will end up calling me from her cell phone rather than waiting to get home to tell me. We had Back To School night last night and either I'm getting old or teaching Middle School makes you young. All her teachers seemed really young to me! I was laughing though about French and foreign language club. They met for the first time on Tuesday, DD was telling me she was the only French student there (it's for all 3 languages) but 1 other student signed up too for the club just wasn't at that meeting. At Back to School night a parent asked if there was French club and when the teacher told them there is a Foreign Language club and the permission slip/information sheets were there & she told the kids. About what seemed like all the parents there grabbed one (except me), so I came home and told DD that I think she would be joined soonly by more French students now for the club.

I guess being a planner and checking out things *way* before you are to that level can be a good thing. We knew about it because I was noisy and had already checked out information on it, along with at locker set-up happened to see a calendar about it on the Spanish room door (the Spanish teacher is in charge of it & she was there), so she explained it all to us, etc...

Hello! Some people are trying to get caught up on stuff for their upcoming trips, hello! :rotfl2:

Seriously I am so busy lately I haven't figured if I'm coming or going or both. ;)

Donna I hope Mark's sister is getting better.

Slo Bunchy Alex hasn't said anything about that incident. So I'm not sure if it's being discussed at his school. I may ask him.

Crissup Chase is pretty good about the credit card stuff. I'm now paranoid about my credit cards so I check them on-line frequently.

Well this weekend I'm house and cat sitting for my friend that does the same for me when I'm gone. I'm finally going to get the suitcase up from the basement. Bunchkin if you want Lauren can come over to vaccum them out;)

Quick fly by....
Leaving for the wedding weekend in Galena in an hour or so. Still packing.

Becky- sorry to hear you are sick  Hope you feel better soon :wizard:

Geffric- Happy Rosh Hashanah to you and any Jewish friends here.

Hi to all and have a good weekend!

Glad to see people came out of the woodwork finally!! :thumbsup2

Hersey I'll send Lauren over straight away!!

paintSee my last post to you up above! I totally meant BOBBLE head NOT bubble head!!! :rotfl2: Although that would be neat to see too!! :rotfl:

Hopefully DS2 will make it late to the MNSSHP...I plan on making it until midnight...hopeful thinking...we are going to go to AK during the day for a 1/2 day and then go back to GF and relax and get our costumes on and ready for dinner at LTT in MK...then off to the party!!! DD12 is super excited! It is so strange to have 2 children (fyi- w/ the same husband) and have them be a decade apart!! I love that I have 2 only children! My DD12 totally loves DS2 to death!! He adores her, too! No fighting...sweet! This is our first vacation since DS2 was born and we moved to Huntley a couple of months before I got pregnant...We spent our travel time before that visiting and seeing friends and ALL our family that lives in the Dallas suburbs. Can't wait to get to WDW!!! 5 weeks to go!

:surfweb:

I do not feel like going to work today :sad2:
I love the store, but there are some days that I really miss home :guilty:
I have so much to do at work though, so as soon as I get there, I'll be busy, and it'll take my mind off wishing I'd be home.

Bunchkin - How are you feeling? I hope you cold has gone away :wizard:
**I'm glad Hunter is sitting alone - that way he has the window all to himself :teeth: (that's what Stephanie would be excited about).
**Thanks for your well wishes about my hands :) . So far, they are still doing okay, but that's because I won't go outside w/o gloves on. But I'll only get away with that for awhile, pretty soon that won't even matter

Becky - I hope you feel better soon!!! :wizard:
**Did you DD make the choir?

HERSEY - You should ask Alex if he heard, because who knows what these other kids are spreading :confused3 Stephanie came home yesterday telling me that she heard that Vanessa Hudgens is pregnant:eek: I assured her that those kids are misinformed, and that I have a direct line to everything Disney, and Vanessa isn't pregnant. Holy Cow!!! What ever happened to talking about dolls, and toys on the playground???? Did we talk about this stuff at this age??? I wish I could go back in time and find out. If we did, we were talking about Donny & Marie or David Cassidy:rotfl:

Rose - I hope you have a nice weekend :)

tt35 - You are going to have such an awesome trip!!!! :cool1: We did LTT right before the MNSHHP last year, and it was great!!! All the kids were dressed up, and the characters did a great job interacting with the kids about their costumes. It's amazing how the characters say nothing, but you know exactly what they are saying!!!!

As I'm typing, I am so chilly!!!!! :cold:
I should wear my gloves in the house:rolleyes:
Actually, I should probably kick on my furnace to get the chill out of the air - but I think Kevin would have a stroke:scared: because he and the kids (especially Katie) are never cold. Me, on the other hand, is always cold:rolleyes:

I'm off to take a hot shower
Have a good day today everyone!!

Morning Chicago!

Becky we're heaeded your way in about 5 minutes! GOing scouring at the Barn Sale for some good finds! I Love ENORMOUS garage 'sales' of sorts! Breakfast at Colonial on Roosevelt Road and then off to the Kane County Fair grounds for Vintage finds and then heading out to the Brookfield zoo!! Let's hope this baby doesn't come today! I have a full day ;)

 HUGS TO ALL!!

Ps> I will take it easy and I will drink a lot of water and rest ALOT :) I know I already spoke to my Dr. yesterday :) And my dad is coming with us to help manage the kids!!

Michelle Have fun at the barn sale.

Slo I did ask Alex last night. He didn't here anything about it. He did ask me why would some one want to take picture with out clothes. Gotta to love kids;)

geez it is cold this morning. I think I'm going to make some blueberry muffins to warm up the kitchen a bit.

Good chilly morning everyone!! :wave2:

We've had our heat on these past couple nights. BRRRR!!!

Lots of things to do today, especially to make up for my lack of work yesterday!!! Although the neighbors are having their garage sale again today....so if I'm not careful I may get distracted again!! ;)

DH is working like a crazy man trying to wrap things up at work before we leave for WDW. I feel bad for him that this always seems to happen right before a vacation. :headache:

slo My cold is still lingering on. But not as bad as it was.
I can't believe that kids at Steph's school said that VH was pregnant!!
Let's hope this all blows over soon, at least in their little world.
Tony gets the same way as you, he misses being here at home but he knows he has work to do so he just gets busy to stop thinking about it.

Hersey Blueberry muffins sound so good!!! I'll be waiting here for my share!! :rolleyes1

texasteacher Your plans for the day of MNSSHP sound good!
We will be going to MK that morning EARLY!! DD has an appt at the new Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at 8am! We'll stay in the park for a while and then head back to FW and rest. Then we'll have the kids change into costumes and head back for our 3:50pm ADR at CP.
We ate at LTT last year for MNSSHP and it was a lot of fun!! The characters were dressed so cute!! Your kids will love it!! :thumbsup2

Becky Sorry to hear you're sick! Welcome to the CLUB!! :rotfl: Membership fees will be collected at the door! ;) :rotfl:

DMM Have fun today!!! Hope you're able to make the zoo too! :)

So sorry to read that this nice cool weather has brought about so many sickies here. Hope everyone is feeling better real soon.

Typical Saturday for me, Nathan's flag football, Lauren's horse back riding, and I have to go to work this afternoon. Kevin is also at a Cross Country meet in Shorewood (I think) and will be going to Chinatown with a friend's family when he gets home.

i'm cold and hate being cold..........

i was taught if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all........

maybe hate was too strong of a work, how about really don't like...

Becky we're heaeded your way in about 5 minutes!

CRUD!!!! I completely forgot about it! How...I don't know -- they have had signs up everywhere for weeks now (probably why I forgot became routine to see the signs!). DH wanted to go over there to look for some electronic thingajig! I just went and told him about it so he could head on over. He did say he saw 2 lines of traffic trying to get into the fairgrounds so just thought it was the flea market. :lmao:

We had to go get a new muffler on his car first thing this morning & EEK...not a good thing when you have a 15 year old car! I guess they had to call 4 warehouses to find the right parts -- Hey...we can make the cars run until they fall apart & then DH can still make it hang on a little longer.

I think we also are having a festival going on downtown (I think festival of the Vine but since I never go to that have no clue). I only know because I had to take DD to gymnastics this morning already & heading back they had the same directional signs they have up usually during Swedish Days and extra cardboard garbage cans lining the sidewalks.

Becky - I hope you feel better soon!!! :wizard:
**Did you DD make the choir?

I am feeling pretty good right now but I'm sure that will change. Still lots of sneezing and I know I've got the cold. My throat was a bit UGH when I was so rudely woken up by DH telling me to get out of bed so I could go to the muffler place so he would have a ride home. :lmao:

As for the choir -- Can you believe it SHE FORGOT TO LOOK!!!!! :sad2: I just wanted to go UGH!!! Now we have to wait until Monday to find out & I have to wait until she gets home. It's going to drive me crazy waiting to find out. *sigh* OK, so I know it's *her* thing but I'm worse than the kids for wanting to find out stuff, besides if she made it, it starts this Wed. and I have to take her to school early & come up with $40. She was so excited because she got this big ol' Weepul thing for their magazine fundraiser, so she came home bouncing in the door all excited to show me this. I had figured she didn't make it because she hadn't called me on the bus to tell me (usually this kind of stuff she will call me after school and say "Hey mom I made it/got this part", etc...), so I asked her Did you make it? She just gave me that look of what are you talking about & when I said the choir, she did a "oh shoot, I knew there was something I was forgetting". Apparently they had a sub the last hour & for some reason he let the girls go early to get their backpacks, etc... and I think the change in routine made her blank out or something. She did try calling a couple people she knows to see if they happened to see if her name was there but so far no luck. No one knows. I imagine they weren't exactly looking to see who all was on the list, just their own names, etc...

maybe hate was too strong of a work, how about really don't like...
Yes...you can't say "hate" around our house. My 3 year old will call you out saying "you said the "H" word". :lmao: We had to make it a bad word in this house because he got on a kick of saying "I hate...." for everything -- picked it up from watching TV with older siblings. :lmao: Of course, *we* slip up all the time with "I HATE xyz" and DS-3 will pipe up "You said the H word" -- Oops...you are right -- OK, I severely don't like that. :lmao: I can only imagine what people think when we are out in public and he says "You said the H word" -- I'm sure they are thinking it's something worse than the word "Hate".

Bunchkin -- I don't like this club -- I want to quit. Can I get a refund? OR do the dues go for some very good meds - I might handle that.

I have to go pick DD up in a few minutes to run from gymnastics over to cheerleading. Nothing like an over-scheduled Saturday. Her gymnastics goes from 9:30 - 12:30 and then her cheer goes from 1-2:30!!! In different locations -- luckily only about 5 minutes or so away from each other. This is the first year they have done the scheduling this way for gymnastics so it was a surprise to us. Oh well...she likes it -- not so sure *I* like the running around but this is the last year for her to be on the park district gymnastics team -- next year she heads on over to being a High Schooler! EEK!!!!!!

Tiggerrn How did your PTO meeting go?? Get any new victims?......I mean helpers?? :rotfl2:
Yes we did pick up a few new, unsuspecting souls!!! :rotfl2:

Ok, I'm a tad miffed.

DD came home from school talking about the Vanessa Hudgens saga!

I had not discussed this with her and figured it would blow over and she would never hear about it, so hence I would not have to explain anything!
WRONG-O!!!!

She told me that kids were discussing it on the playground.
Here's what I got from her: Some kids told her that Zac & Vanessa had naked pics of themselves put on YouTube. And that the director of the movie saw them and fired them.
And that some of the kids said they saw these pics!! :scared1: WHAT???
QUOTE]
OK, I have been so out of touch. What is this all about? I asked Kellie, but she hasn't heard anything. We so live in a bubble here.

lots of MIA's here this morning.
bring a note from home to excuse your absent this morning......:rolleyes1
Sorry, Mac. This life is too busy for me to handle!! :headache: PTO, work, ballet, soccer. Shame on me for letting this life stuff interfere with my DIS time.

Just got done packing a box that we are shipping to WDW ahead of time.
Anyone else do this??
I do this each time we go. We never do the dining plan since kids are so picky and we'd never get our $$$ worth. I pack cereal, bowls, spoons, snacks, sunscreen, wipes, sprayer/fan, little and cheap glow sticks for parade time, and then a quick grocery stop for milk, bread, PB&J, juice boxes, water bottles and Diet Pepsi (since WDW is a Coke facility). And we are good to go for breakfasts and snacks and a late night sandwich when needed. Saves a ton of $$$$.

OK, since I have guiltily been MIA for a few days, :wizard: to all the sickies (please feel free to keep your germs), :hourglass is ticking away for the cooking babies-keep them where they are til they are due please, everyone enjoy the weekend. Awesome day to go to the zoo today or tomorrow, lots of luck to all the kids entering different clubs and activities. And for all those of you on the way, happy :laundy: and packing. Well, that is about it for catching up.
:dance3: is going well for DD. Had Nutcracker rehearsals today.
DS got into the Magnet School last week, so lots of running for uniforms and such. I asked him yesterday what he learned so far in Spanish class. Of course, he couldn't recall.:confused3 :rotfl2:
DD got the job as safety patrol and has been busy Bobby Bradying everyone with her "no running in the halls".
I got stung by a bee picking up Kyle at school. Darn thing got me 3 times. My arm swelled up like crazy, hurt like a ***, and itched like mad. Worked yesterday and asked the Peds there what they thought, and they said I needed steroids and an epi pen. I figured I'd go see my doc the next day, but they were like, "uh, no. It's a today thing!!" Who knew?!! Some nurse I am for my own self. So I called my doc from work and had her just call in the Rx. But she didn't call in anything for an epi pen. Sure hope I don't get stung by another bee any time soon.:scared:

Sandy, got done with your "project" repeating at work yet.:sad2: You sure are better about that than I ever would have been.
Well, DS wants to look at costumes online. Anyone have a Jengo Fett costume in a size 7 that they'd like to sell me? :rolleyes1
Oh, and after trying once again to get Miley Cyrus tickets this morning, I struck out. :sad1: Anyone have 2 tickets to see her at the Allstate that they would like to sell without asking for an arm or a leg in return?:rolleyes1

Tiggerrn Congrats to Kyle for getting into the new school!!
I hope he enjoys it!!
Sounds like you pack some good stuff in a box to send to WDW! Smart move! ;)
You sound really busy!!!

So are you saying you missed the big fiasco about Vanessa Hudgens?
It has been all over the news, web, print.....EVERYWHERE!!!!!

Howdy! Just got home, i'm tiiireeedd!!

gOt some AWESOME stuff at the sale, but it was CROOOWDED!!!!! :faint: too many crowds to fight and we got their at opening!! So much was already picked over :earseek:

Zoo was great! the weather was fabulous!! Kids had a blast running around!
