Then I have to drive STephanie to school today, because I left her backpack at the store yesterday (Stephanie had CCD last night, and left her backpack with me at work, and Kevin picked her up and then they went home), and we have to get it first - I'm so glad we live so close to the store - it's paid off more than once :thumbsup2

Have a good day everyone!!!!

Morning..:surfweb:

Quick fly by to say HI..

Have a great day.. keep warm....

Becky - How did your DD do with her choir tryouts?

It went OK so she says...she said her voice was a little scratchy for warm-ups but she made it through the try-outs OK. To me from what she was saying, I don't think she felt it was the best in the world due to the cough. I'm just not so sure how it will work. Keeping fingers crossed. We have a doctor's appt. today at 11, so hopefully we can get this cough care of. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's a everyone made it deal just because of her not being at 100% and she told me she only saw about 28 kids signed-up (they were saying about 30 was how many they wanted to limit it to) -- or at least "All 8th graders made it". :lmao: Have to use that for some leverage somehow. Today is more try-outs, then Mr. & Mrs. H are going to decide who made it/didn't and will tell them when it will be posted. DD is thinking probably posted on Friday.

AND ....just so you all know -- I sent my kids to school with jackets on today, so I've redeemed myself from yesterday! :lmao: Of course, I also flipped on the heat when my alarm went off and the first thing I heard on the radio was something about it being in the 40's???? I'm not sure I wasn't completely coherent -- all I remember hearing was "40's" and thought -- UGH...go flip on heat even though it wasn't all that cold in the house but it's morning & I hate, hate, hate being cold.

Nathan and Lauren were in jeans and coats today too. (well, Nathan wore his under armour with his football shirt) We too turned on the heat last night, just in case.

Becky ~ I'll keep my fingers crossed for her.

Slo ~ Sorry your hands don't allow you to enjoy this weather.

Good morning everyone!

Lauren missed her bus again this morning. This is the second time she has done this since school started not even a month ago. Totally threw my morning schedule off. So now she will start getting up even earlier.
Some days that girl is just in her own little world.

I really should do some kind of packing today!!
I have been the biggest procrastinator these past few vacations!
I do have a box almost all packed up to be shipped to our resort. And I have lots of things set to the side. And seeing how the temps are dropping maybe I can pack up some of the kids shorts too.

Kids went to school in pants, long sleeves and hooded jackets. It was so cold out there this morning. But I love fall time so I'm not complaining about the weather. :thumbsup2

slo Sorry to hear your hands are already starting to bother you. Are you still seeing your doctor about them. And is there anything more they can do to help?

Lauren is already feeling better and it's obvious too. She's not nearly as stuffy as she was the other day. So I'm really thankful for that. I have her on some prescription the pediatrician gave her for a cold she had last year and it's really doing the trick! Hunter so far isn't showing signs of being sick so I'm hoping he's in the clear.
But I have an awful time getting rid of colds. I'm still slightly stuffy.
Thanks for asking about us!! :goodvibes

Gosh I love pedicures! Where I go, the lady who does them is the salon owner's wife.
They have those reclining/massaging chairs with the whirlpool tub at the foot of them. She massages your leg from the knee down and of course feet too. She uses a sugar scrub that makes your legs feel like baby skin!!
It's really relaxing. :cloud9:

Becky You can go back on the good mom list! :thumbsup2

piglet Hunter is 5 and I believe he is 38 lbs. And he's tall so it stretches him out even more.

Tiggerrn How did your PTO meeting go?? Get any new victims?......I mean helpers?? :rotfl2:

Moms of skinny boys- DS did not get it from me, but he is the shortest by at least a head in his 2nd gr class. He weighs around 45 lbs. Picking him up reminds me of picking up a kitten- lighter than they look and all bones. He does not seem to grow. His pants from last year fit, while his younger sister is now taller than him and out weighs him by 5 lbs! H eeats. He puts it in his hollow leg!
So, my sister who got he limo ride to the airport for a million dreams is in wdw now. Her friend, friend's bf, ds, and her bf got picked to be in the parade at AK! Only, one of the floats broke down and they backed down. Two other families with kids were to be in the parade, and they decided to give up their space so both families could still go.
Wedding plans...not much. Just getting some ideas. I think we are going to get a custom bobble head for the cake topper. We also looked at rings, since I will need a custom to fit around mine. I looked into personalized m&ms. $! Yikes. I am not ordering those!
dmm- Hang in there!

Sk8leigh...good to see you here...how is the new house coming along??

Not as well as it would be if I weren't so lazy! It's definitely better, but there's still a lot of stuff I need to go through and find space for. And I haven't gotten my permanent window treatments done. When I got the temp paper things up it didn't seem as urgent. :rolleyes1 But it is getting more presentable. I got motivated and did some stuff in the last few days, so that was good.

Best wishes for your SIL, Donna.

Hey everyone! Just found this thread and had to pop on in! I'm about an hour NW of Chicago in Crystal Lake area.

Welcome to the thread!

Leigh Don't you love it when the DME tags come in the mail??!!! :rotfl:
Makes everything seem so official!! :thumbsup2
I for one would stay FAR away from the escargot!!!! :scared: BLECHKT!! :scared:

Love the tags! And yesterday I got my room docs, too! I already had my park ticket and my party ticket, so I'm all set!

I have no idea what escargot will be like (and don't tell me! :rotfl2: ), so I'm just going to try it, unless I see it and it just grosses me out too much. But a girl at work here said that she would pay for it if I would try it. Can you tell how picky I am? :rotfl:

Leigh, are you packed up and ready to go as well? Hersey? Mac? Slo? I bet you are all getting anxious. PLEASE, SOMEONE TAKE ME WITH YOU!!!!!:rotfl:

I have a spare bunkbed if you want to go! That's the only room that was available at WL. I'm going to see if they can give me a regular one with a CY view, but I'll take the bunk beds if I have to. (I read that the rooms were darker.) And I'm not packed, although at least that's all I have left to do. I'm a last minute packer. (See the lazy thing above. :rolleyes1 )

Tiggerrn Well you're not going to believe this but Tony just told me tonight that 2 of the houses he is working on is now in a rush to close......this is exactly what happened last year!!!! UGH!!!!  I'm hoping he will finish before we need to go because one of us will have to prepare for the closing on both houses.

Oh no, I hope that all works out!

I'm in Munster, Indiana. Right next door to Lansing, Illnois. Cannot get much closer to the borders that that! :)

Welcome to you, too!

Hi! I live in a northwest Chicago suburb...Huntley, IL...about 40 miles from downtown. Think cornfields...w/ new construction...that's where I live!:coffee:

...and you! (or is that Boo to You? :rotfl2:) I saw you on the DL board. Glad you made it over here.

New historical American Girl is available for purchase!! :cool1:
Julie Albright

Wow, the cost! What a racket!

Howdy everyone! Still here and still pegnant! hahha! We at least nailed down a week with the Dr. Octboer 3-10th somewhere in there is baby day! We will find out at the next appt. which will be next week! :woohoo:

Cool! :goodvibes

And the kid look adorable in their little wind breakers! haha!!

Kids look adorable in everything! It's because they're miniature! :cutie:

Lauren missed her bus again this morning. This is the second time she has done this since school started not even a month ago. Totally threw my morning schedule off. So now she will start getting up even earlier.
Some days that girl is just in her own little world.

So far this week and last week I've missed getting a good parking space at the train station three times and had to get a 7:45am spot, which means that I have to wait until then to pay and get the :52 train instead of the :32. And I'm a grown-up (allegedly). :sad2: Today I did better and got a space, though! :yay:

Welcome WDWNut4Life

Found out today with DD's cough is "Allergy induced Asthma" which I, of course, have never heard of so have no clue. Allergies I've heard of. Asthma I've heard of. Allergy induced Asthma -- Nope.

This doesn't surprise me with the way the cough was sounding I was wondering if it wasn't asthma but then again when she was really little she would get bronchial infections & I thought it might be that too.

I think it's her school though causing the allergies. :scared1: or maybe just the weather, he did say after the first frost, the symptoms should clear up. The doctor asked if she had it before school started & she didn't. Then after I got home and started thinking about it -- I remember last year she would complain that her eyes would start watering a LOT at school (but not here at home) -- practically to where it looked like she was crying but she wasn't. I suspected maybe allergies but figured we would give it some time and then get it checked out. It stopped before I got it checked out. I can't remember if she had anything in 6th grade and that was a different building.

So, I'm a bit perplexed as to what to do with this now. I don't know if I should count her as "having asthma" for school forms since she isn't going to be getting something that is an all the time stuff -- just when her allergy symptoms start up. We were given samples of Singular which according to the packet works for both asthma & allergies so that makes sense. Along with an antibotic at the moment since she's had the cough for so long more than likely an infection has settled in. If all goes well, the cough should be gone in a couple days (as usually the case in the past with her bronchial infections).

She was bummed no metion of getting out of gym and out of running they are doing now -- she hates running -- she has always hated running -- she will try to use *any* excuse to get out of running (they have to do the 1 mile soon I'm sure). Hence the reason she is not so good on Vault -- nice mom that I am (where's that Mom of the Year award again? :rotfl2: ) -- I always think of Fred Flinstone when I see her running for vault (she has a ladies size 7 feet and is a small little thing in the 10% for height & weight for her age (not even 5 feet yet and just cracked over 80 pounds) -- so they aren't quite in proportion).

That was her biggest question to me about all of this -- "so I still have to run for gym?????" Ummm....yeah...you do -- only 4 more years of it after this one. :rotfl:

By the way -- Did you all see it got warm this afternoon? Or at least feels that way here -- it's because I sent the kids to school with jackets.

Ok, I'm a tad miffed.

DD came home from school talking about the Vanessa Hudgens saga!

I had not discussed this with her and figured it would blow over and she would never hear about it, so hence I would not have to explain anything!
WRONG-O!!!!

She told me that kids were discussing it on the playground.
Here's what I got from her: Some kids told her that Zac & Vanessa had naked pics of themselves put on YouTube. And that the director of the movie saw them and fired them.
And that some of the kids said they saw these pics!! :scared1: WHAT???

So of course I went into mom-mode!!
She already knows what a loser Lindsay Lohan has turned out to be, so she is well aware of how good people can go bad.
And she told me that taking naked pictures of yourself is "totally GROSS!!"!! :rotfl2:

I did tell her that Disney made a statement that she's not fired and that she has apologized for what she did.

It was a good conversation.
I just cannot believe that these other kids actually saw the pics of her. And if they did...... !!! What were those parents thinking???? :headache:

Some good news though:

Lauren got excepted into the 'Just say no to drugs' club at her school. They only except a certain amount of kids each year. They all meet to discuss and plan activities and such for all the students in helping them to become better educated about the pitfalls of drugs and to help kids with their self esteem.
:goodvibes

I have a feeling that Linday Lohan was never part of such a club!

WRONG-O!!!! :

:scared1: EEEK!! I did ask DD about it because she didn't say boo about it. I brought it up because not sure about HSM3 stuff and all I said was something along the line about did she hear of the controversy -- her eyes bugged out & went "WHAT????" -- I said with Vanessa and her answer was "oh that, yeah heard about it" in a rather deflated yesterday's news type voice being bummed that was my only scandelous news I had for her regarding HSM. :rotfl: I guess she thought I knew something WAY more juicy or something -- hey kid -- your the one in the halls of school -- I get all my info from the DIS.

Sorry it wasn't able to just be one of those -- quietly go away type things. And :scared1: for the kids seeing the picture.

good thursday morning chicagoland homies.

Good afternoon all!!!

Where is our early morning poster? :scratchin

Just got done packing a box that we are shipping to WDW ahead of time.
We need to go take it to the UPS store today.
It is jammed packed!!
Best thing I ever did was start sending things ahead of time so that the lugage is not totally full with things I won't even be bringing back! ::yes::

Anyone else do this??

piglet You Tube is sooo addictive some days! :rolleyes1

I need to start thinknig about packing abox full of diapers, sippy cups for DS2 (barely 2), I am not sure what else to put in the box...except maybe fruit snacks and stuff that HE likes to eat and munch on! His a little bit particular about his snacks...he wants the same brands of cookies/ flavor of goldfish...won't just take whtever is available. Anyone have any other good ideas to pack in a box for a DS2???

Ugh! Just got a call from Circuit City asking about my online credit card order. Since I hadn't placed any orders from them, I was a tad concerned. Turns out someone used my credit card number to order a new laptop computer online. So, after assuring the Circuit City rep that I hadn't placed the order and cancelling it, I called Citibank and informed them that my card has been breached. I have to say I wasn't too impressed with the Citi rep that I was speaking to. I had him check my account and he found a couple of $1 charges for online music. This is classic fraud patterns. Generally, when thieves steal a credit card number, they place one or two very tiny orders of a dollar or less, just to verify the account is good, without attracting anyone's attention. Then, when they're ready, they place a big order for their payload. Anyway, I had the rep cancel the account and issue me a new number. Hopefully, they're security dept will be in touch shortly.

I had a problem with one of my Chase cards last year (my Disney Visa, in fact), and Chase was on it fast. They caught it before I did. I was really surprised that Citi's fraud detection alarms didn't go off in this case. Guess Chase is much more on the ball.
