Tiggerrn: Yep! That's me, Miss Autumn. By the end of August, I'm sick of summer and I'm ready for the next thing on the agenda! FALL! I love summer in June and July, but August sucks big time. Bees, allergies, sneezing, wheezing, mosquitos, blah. I am looking forward to crispy days and cool nights, red leaves, pumpkins, and Halloween! Weehaa!!

Paint: CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT. What a sweet way to propose! You were sort of in your natural element :rotfl: and completely unsuspecting at that point in time!

Today was Megan's picture day, so last night, we flat ironed her hair, and I swear it's two inches longer now. So, this morning, she wore a pretty pink skirt with a new top from Old Navy that is white with hearts on it and at the bottom it says Heart Breaker. The hearts are sort of silver/pink metallic and outlined in black, so she had on a black headband, so we can see her face in the pictures! I swear to GoSH, a little mascara and lipstick and she would have looked 16 years old. :sad2: She really looked very different from last year. She's growing up too quick! I now understand the song Sunrise/Sunset... it just keeps keepin on! Sheesh!

So, the weather picture is better for this weekend, but I noticed there are very few good kids movies out right now. Dan is going away for a week fishing, so I'm looking for good activities for me & Megan all week. I am going to a festival (indoor apparently) at Grande Park in Plainfield this weekend. They are going to be featuring a lot of vendors like Tastefully Simple, Beijo, Pampered Chef, etc. Lot's of the home party stuff, so I thought I'd hit that on Saturday. Friday night, I'm going to an UpperCase party, ever heard of that?? It's like all these neat little sayings that you can stencil onto your walls. It's kind of a stick & peel process. That looks interesting too. I hope they have a stencil that says, Clean Up, The Maid is On Strike!

They do have one though that says, I Believe in Fairies, that I would like to get for Megan's room. She says everyone has to believe!! If not, a fairy will die. Sort of the opposite of every time a bell rings an angels gets its wings.

I'm bored. Dishes are done, clothes are washed, I even vaccumed the living room. Not use to having the house to myself, all three kids in school and Dewain actually had to be at the office today.

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone. Dewain remembered not too long after I posted, and he reminded the kids at bedtime. We did celebrate the day before, so I guess I should not let it bother me. Slo, you had asked what we did. I went shopping with my birthday money, spent a chunck of it on Bare Escentuals make-up (always wanted to try it, but never wanted to "waste" money, perfect time to indulge myself). We had Mindy's ribs for supper and then drove up to the Plush Horse for ice cream.

Good Morning all!!

Well, I have 2 weeks to go before WDW. And I have done nothing to really prepare except for buying a couple boxes from the UPS store yesterday so I can ship some things down in advance.

And those suit cases in the basement.......have yet to come up!!! I have been just too busy. Hunter reminds me every day and I never get to it!!

I'm saddened by the news that Luciano Pavoratti has passed. What a wonderful voice and talent.
I will admit that I am an opera geek!! But don't tell anyone that!! :ssst:

If you have the chance please check out some of these YouTube videos of him.

I'm sure all of you know this song, Ave Maria.

This song is called Nessum Dorma. It's about a man's secret love for a princess. Beautiful song.

This song is called Caruso. It's great song about a man's love for a his country, Italy, and his woman. And how he looks into the sea and thinks he sees the lights of America in the distance, but it's only the fishing boat lights in the water.

Ok, so I'll be done being culturally sappy!!! ;)

slo You know, we have NEVER lived anywhere that DIDN'T have a fishing pond! Weird!!!!

Sam I'm trying to remember if it's you that showed me a picture of a WDW stroller with a Mickey clip on fan hanging from it. Was that you guys??
If so I was wondering if the fan hangs on in one place really well or is it a PITA!!! I was thinking of buying one off of Ebay before we leave.

I totally love fall too!!! Can't wait for those 70's temps to get here next week!! And what is up with the mosquitos??? I was at Lauren's expectation night yesterday and they were out in full force. We went to the playground for 5 minutes and got eaten up!!!

bigben Your family is going to love Christmas at WDW!!! We spent 2 weeks there at Christmas time and it was really the best Christmas Eve and Christmas Day we've ever had!!! :goodvibes Congrats to you!!

Tiggerrn I hope all goes well at the kids follow up appt!! :thumbsup2

piglet I know what you're talking about. This is my first year with having both kids at school. I've cleaned the kitchen, in the process of changing all the sheets and doing laundry. It's just too quiet here!!! ;)

Sounds like you had a nice birthday celebration!! Where did you buy you Bare Essentials from? I have been wanting to try one of those lines of makeup for a while now. We love the Plush Horse!!! But haven't been there in a while.

Well, I should get going on work around here some more.

Hey everyone! :wave2:

Just wanted to stop in a say hi, and to congratulate paintnolish on her engagement! :cool1: :dance3:

I'm actually going to Orlando a week from today. Totally last minute (literally - I booked it last Friday!! :rolleyes1 ). I just needed to get away from Chicago. This summer was super stressful. While I had fun, I don't wanna go back to it :sad2:

Anyway, I'm staying with a friend (a fellow DIS-er!) and we're going to do fun stuff like go to the beach, and Pleasure Island and go to WDW for one of the days I'm there (though I'm still not sure - I don't have any passes, so I have to buy a 1 day pass and they're not cheap!!) so, I dunno. May do Universal instead.

I'm so glad summer is over! I'm sorry for those of you who love it. :rotfl:

Bunchkin ~ I just went to Ulta. They have a nice starter kit for $60 that comes with quite a bit. The brushes alone are worth over $80, so I guess it is a good deal.

jedi Congrats on being able to get away to FL!! I hope it's a relaxing get away for you!! :goodvibes

piglet That sounds like a good price! Have you tried it yet? I heard it takes time getting used to applying it. Not sure if that's based on a per person basis or if it's really difficult to get down right the first time or so. :confused3

Bunchkin!

Okay about those fans! They do clip on really well! However, don't expect a lot of "fannage". They blow (barely)!! :rotfl: If you can get one for cheap off eBay, go ahead, however, they run out of batteries in a day or so and you could breath heavier than they blow.

Don't fall for the gimmick at WDW though, at $15.99, it's quite the "stupid" purchase of the day thing! :upsidedow

DW will still be on maturity leave.

I hope she matures by the time her leave is over. ;) :lmao:

Sorry, I'm notorious for picking up on people's typos (and ignoring my own). ;)

Seriously though, I've never stayed at WDW during Christmas Day, but have gone many times during the Christmas holiday season. I love it! It's a great time to be there. I did do Busch Gardens in Tampa once on Christmas Day and it was horrible. Half the park was closed and it was barely decorated. It was a stark contrast to the way Disney treats Christmas.

I'm saddened by the news that Luciano Pavoratti has passed. What a wonderful voice and talent.

I hadn't heard about that yet. When we were on the Disney Cruise in the Med, we had just sat down at Palo and a local tenor came in singing. I think it was while we were in Rome. Evidentally, each time the ship was in Rome, Palo would have him come in and do a quick tour through the restaurant serenading the guests. He stopped at our table, grabbed my hand and started loudly calling me Pavoratti. ;) Carol was dying laughing! Anyway, we quick got some photos with him and he was off again. Lots of fun.

Hi, I grew up in HP. My parents still live there. I live in the city now. SW side near Midway.
Just back from 7 nights at the dolphin!!:)

Just back from 7 nights at the dolphin!!:)

Welcome, but hey, if you just got back from seven nights at the Dolphin, where's the details, the 411, the trip report??? Just kidding. Glad you could drop by, but we do tend to live vicariously through those who just visited "The World".

:wizard:

:yay: Thanks for the welcome.

We were at the Dolphin from 8/19-8/26. It was me, Dh, ds(10),and ds(21mos).
We had a great time. Our room was upgraded. We had a great view. Epcot, and mgm. The weather was HOT!!! But we somehow managed. Spent most of our time at the MK, but we hit all the parks. Ak is not our favorite. We see more animals at Brookfield Zoo. We did love Expedition Everest though. Very cool ride.
We moved at a slightly slower pace than normal with the little one. He is a trooper though. He loved all the rides he could go on.
We only had rain on Friday and Saturday nights. But they were severe downpours with lots of lightning.

Any questions???

Dropping in to say hello :wave2:. I just got done eating dinner with the girl's, now I have to give them baths and get them ready for bedtime :thumbsup2 my favorite part of the day.

Slo- the braxton hicks kicked into overdrive it is so annoying. Oct. 8 is my due date, but I really think Ashley will be here in September.

Amy Try to relax as much as possible. Yeah like that's going to happen with 2 active girls, but try to put your feet up after they go to bed. Hopefully you have some help. To bad your so far from your Mom. I suppose she is going to be with you when the baby comes. Say hi to her for us. We miss her and you.

Hi, all..

Welcome, bobaron32...we are practically neighbors, as I am in Roselle. Thanks for sharing details about your trip. Do you have any pics?

2sweetangels...hang in there! The baby will be here shortly!

Bunchkin....better get those suitcases upstairs soon! Thx for the culture today...I always thought he had an amazing voice, too...pancreatic cancer is what my mom passed away from...it is a devasting type of cancer.

Bigben/Crissup...I laughed at the "maturity leave" line, too! I've never been at Christmas, so I'm hoping for some pictures.

Jedi..hope you have a great trip!

All..thanks for the concern for my sister in law...no word yet on the path report...hoping soon.

Today is our wedding anniversary:love: ...27 years, yikes!

Shout out to all my Chicago friends, esp any lurkers...Have a GREAT night, everyone....off to go out to dinner. Take care.

I think I'll stick with what we already have. :)

Sorry, I'm notorious for picking up on people's typos (and ignoring my own). ;)

No Way!!! :rolleyes1

Sorry :guilty: ;)

I'll have more to say as our June 08 trip approaches :goodvibes -- or maybe I should spend less time on the political threads :rolleyes1

When's the next Chicagoland DIS meet?

We're more fun then all those political threads! ;)

Not sure about the next meet. No one has planned one in a while.

Any volunteers anyone?? ;)

Hi, I grew up in HP. My parents still live there. I live in the city now. SW side near Midway.
Just back from 7 nights at the dolphin!!:)

:welcome: to the Chicago Thread!!!

How was the Dolphin??

No she's not. ;) :lmao:

Still making trouble??? :rolleyes1

bobaron32 I see you had already answered my question about your trip before I posted.

See this is what happens when I start a post then stop to go help the smallest one get his shower and then come back here to finish posting!!! :upsidedow

2sweet Take it easy as much as possible!! I know that's easier said then done!! ;) I had the same thing happen to me with my youngest through out most of my 2nd and 4rd trimesters.

Ak is not our favorite. We see more animals at Brookfield Zoo.

You know, AK has never been my favorite either. It's a cool park, but to me, it's still just a big zoo. I could never figure out how so many people could be so completely head over the heels for that park. Then one day I realized, there are a *lot* of people in this country that are hours away from their nearest zoo. Here in Chicago, we're spoiled with two really great zoos. As a result, the animal part doesn't seem to impress us much and we're left looking at what's left. ;)

But, I do think it's beginning to become a decent park. We still only spend a half day there at most though.

Still making trouble??? :rolleyes1

Moi?!? :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 ;)
