Good afternoon, all!

Yep, Bubba Gump's was fun on Saturday, except it was wicked crowded, and they kind of "lost" Mark's order in the shuffle..and brought me two salads (Mark had the extra while he was waiting for his meal!)...but they offered to buy us desert to make up for any inconvenience, so we all really pigged out on a cookie ice cream sundae thingie (MAC...may not been as good as what you can get at your blue restaurant, but mighty close!) And, SLO...the cocunut shrimp was part of what was on Mark's plate...he had lots of different shrimp. I'm getting hungry now just thinking about the food, and I just had lunch!:rotfl2: One thing I have noticed, though, they used to do a lot of trivia stuff at the rest about the movie and whatnot and there was absolutely none of that this weekend, or even the last few times we were there. I kind of miss that aspect!

CRISSUP..I remember reading about you guys going to Galena...we are off to Dubuque for graduation soon...not sure if we will have a chance to go to the Diamond Joe this time...have you ever gone to the other casino in Dubuque, at the Greyhound park? We actually find we like this one a bit better.

SAMIAM...Congratulations on the cruise plans! And, happy 10th anniversary!

MAC...I hope Mr. Mac is feeling better today??

HERSEY...Honestly, where did the expression about bon-bons even come from??? And, yep, we really did enjoy Bubba Gumps! Have you gone there recently?

BUNCHIN/PIGLET...I love candles! Yankee candles are great, aren't they!:thumbsup2

SLO...you know you need to listen to your screen name sometime...and SLO (I know it's spelled differently!) down!!! You are one busy lady!

Okay..question for you all...have any of you been to Mackinac Island in Michigan? I am doing some research for a trip there...not a clue about how long it takes to get there, where to stay (well, I would LOVE the Grand Hotel, but not LOVE the $$!)...so just curious if any of you all know anything about it??

Have a good day, everyone!:)

Anyone have any suggestions? I am looking to buy a new camera, nothing fancy, just need a good zoom and pixel quality!!

I have always used a Sony... digital camera and video camera. I've never had a problem and I think they take great pictures. :)

Donna
Mac I hope Mr Mac isn't trying to get more sick by going back to work to soon. But at least you get your alone time back. You know eating Bon Bon's. By the way what are Bon Bon's?
It was a reference to just sitting around doing nothing but eating Bon Bon's Not as funny as last night. Chalk it up to being loopy from spray painting Alex's castle. Spray adhesive and sealer can make you loopy too.

Hi to All:wave:

I have been lurking for quite a while and decided to be brave and post.

About a year ago I tried posting on this thread and have to say that it didn't go well - not sure what happened but didn't really connect.:confused3 :confused3

Anyway I never reallyleft the thread because I wanted to become friendly with people from this "corner of the world"..........You guys seem sooooooooo nice:goodvibes :dance3: Hoping I can join in..........:yay:

I live just north of Chicago - am 51 and have 2 DDs 19 and 22 - 22 DD lives in Florida and works for the MOUSE:cheer2: :cool1: :thumbsup2 More about that later........

Thanks for listening and hope to talk to you soon.

Have a Magical Disney Day!!

Chrismiss 56

HERSEY...Got any castle pix to share yet? I remember the days of school "projects"! I totally understand loopy!:)

BUNCHKIN...I recently got a new digital camera, it is a Canon SD600...it's so new for me I had to go run and get it so I could post what it is! Actually, my son, who uses a camera a lot and knew I wanted something small and easy, recommended this for me. I had been using a Kodac, but was looking to upgrade it. Best Buy seemed to have a good selection of cameras. Good luck with choosing one!:)

Hey, Chrissmiss56...Welcome! (or should I say Welcome Back!) Glad to see you come out of "lurk" mode!

I have 2 boys (well, men)...my oldest is 25 and works as a music director for the Catholic high school (read, small program) and my youngest is also 22 and about to graduate from the University of Dubuque in Iowa with a major in computer graphics and interactive media..wants to get into the gaming industry. I want to hear *all* about your DD who works for the mouse!!!

Again, welcome and please post often!!!!:)

Donna sorry no pictures yet I'm going to take some tonight. But I have no idea how to post them. I'm lucky I know how to use this thing.

Bunchy I have a canon a540 powershot

:welcome: chrismiss56 We would be happy to have you here!!! They are all a really great group here. Lots of good free advice. And they are friendly in person as well. Feel free to just jump right in anywhere and fill us in on yourself and your family. Especially the DD living/working with the mouse.:rolleyes1 Would love some insider secrets.
My name is Linda. I have 2 kids, DD is 9 and very into Ballet. DS will be 7 next week and is into anything that makes noise and moves (Oh, and Pokemon). DH is a computer tech person and I am an RN currently working in Labor and Delivery. We live in the very South Suburbs. I've been told the middle of nowhere. :confused3 Sometimes I agree.:rotfl2:
Good evening everyone. Bunchy and Hersey I sent you PMs on your camera pix questions. Hope they are helpful.
What a beautiful day today!!! I had the job of pointing all the GPs in the right direction for parking today, so I spent my morning outside. I think I actually got some sun. My face was feeling a bit warmish.:rolleyes1
Now that all these school functions are done I just have to get past the big :dance3: and then maybe (just maybe)I'll actually have time to clean up my house.
Well, I'd better go do some:laundy: At least I can keep up with that a bit in between volunteer gigs.
I'll check in again later.

Thanks for all the welcomes!!

Linda - How far south are you? I just attended a family wedding...the church was in Orland Park and the hotel (where we spent the night - it is well over an hour to hour and 1/2:):) was in Tinley Park and the reception in Mokena (191st and LaGrange Rd). Seemed like I was going to Indiana!!!!

I live 25 minutes north of Downtown Chicago - grew up in the city and am a diehard CUBS FAN - what a glutton for punishment:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

DD22 graduated last May from Indiana University - she applied and was accepted for Disney's College program - has wanted to work at WDW since she was 4 - She was going to be the driver of the double decker bus that brought the characters to World Showcase Plaza. :yay: :yay:

Her favorite character (besides Mickey) is Figment. You probably understand a mother's dilemna trying to find Figment merchandise 15 years ago.:upsidedow Anyway guess what her first assignment was JOURNEY INTO IMAGINATION!!!:dance3: :dance3:

After the internship she decided to stay and got an apt with 2 others. She is now working at both IMAGE and the new Nemo ride at the Living Seas. She walks on the conveyor belt about 5 miles every shift. She is also been accepted as a trainer for both locations:woohoo: :woohoo: Will be applying for relief coordinator in July - next stop in the mgmt process.......

She is sooooooooo content and happy with life. Not making alot of money but spreading :tink: :tink: every where she goes........I can only hope to be like her when I retire and grow up:thumbsup2

DD19 has spent the last year up in Milwaukee at UWM took her a year to figure out that she really wants to be at Indiana........I could fill a book on her adventures:):)

Have a Magical Disney Day

YEAH!!!  :dance3: :woohoo: :cheer2:

Thanks to everyone for sharing what type of camera they have. :goodvibes
I want a good camera but don't want to spend a ton of loot to get one!! ;)
So I've been pricing them out on line first before I go hit the stores.

Lauren is excited because I promised her my old camera when I get a new one. I know it will take her abuse.....I dropped it 4 times at Disneyland!!! :headache:

:rotfl:

:welcome: chrismiss56 Glad you've come out of hiding!! ;)

John What ever happend to your sink hole of a driveway? Did it get repaired?

Funny you should ask. Just got a call today from the builder. They're coming out Thursday to tear out the driveway, repack the storm pipe underneath and replace the driveway. Wich us luck!! :)

No, it had been years since I'd been to Galena. In fact, my last trip had been to the old Silver Eagle riverboat, so that tells you how long ago that was. Actually, I would swear that the Diamond Jo is the old Silver Eagle. CarolAnnC had never been up there, so we didn't spend a lot of time checking out stuff outside of Galena.

Thanks to everyone for sharing what type of camera they have.

Three primary criteria I have when selecting a new digital camera are "optical" zoom, how quickly the focus reacts and the compatability with my existing camera accessories.

Digital zoom is little more than blowing the photo up on your computer. Optical zoom is where you're going to be able to zoom in and still get crisp clear photos. Good optics are the most expensive component of any camera, so optical zoom tends to add more price. My last three cameras all had 3X optical zoom.

I bought CarolAnnC a small Nikon one time and noticed that the focus was so slow that if I tried to take a photo of anything moving, it would come out blurry. It was very difficult to get a good shot of the electrical parade as a result.

And, since I've owned several previous digital cameras, if I can find something that will use my exisiting memory cards, batteries, etc, that's all gravy. Means I won't have to spend a lot of money purchasing all new stuff.

chrismiss56 Glad you've come out of hiding!! ;)

Welcome Chrismiss56!!

Here's a nice photo of downtown Galena for your viewing pleasure. Click on the photo for a larger copy of it...

Thanks again John, great pic! DHs Aunt lives in Galena but, I've only been there once. It seemed SOOO NICE!!! :goodvibes

My name is Kirsten
I think I know you! ;)

Hi to All:wave:
As well as you!! WISH board??? ;)

:grouphug: & to ALL!! I'm trying my best to just keep up with you BUSY friends - no time to post tonight, sorry. :guilty:

Any word on the movie meet?? :confused3 pirate:

:surfweb:

Becky - Are HSM on Ice tickets still available? Steph would love to go :)

Tigggerrnnn - Is Kellie in a recital this year? Stephanie's is in June, and they are dancing to Hanna Montana - Pump up the Party. The girls love dancing to this:dance3: I'm looking forward to seeing their outfit, which I get next week.

John - I've never been to Galena :sad2: Thanks for posting the picture.

Paint - Steph is very skinny too, and normally can get 2 years out of her clothes (unless something got to short). Have you tried those adjustable waist pant/jeans/shorts with your son - they are great!!!!! :thumbsup2

Sam - When you said "a pig in mud" it made me chuckle!!!
**I'm sailing The Magic right before you - we leave 10/20 :goodvibes If you want me to get anything from my cruise to help with any last minute details for your trip - I will be happy to do that ::yes::

Bunchkin - After I started thinking about the pool thing, I remembered that Steph does ask about the slide - it's all about the slide :) When I told her the The WL doesn't have a huge slide, she said that she doesn't want to ever stay there then  She's a Poly snob!!!!!:rotfl:

Piglett too - Thanks for reintroducing yourself :goodvibes You have 2 children around the same age as my kids. Steph was born in 98 and Kate was born in 03.
**I love Yankee Candle stores, but I can only be in there for a short while, or else I start getting a headache:headache: So my question to you is (because I've never known anyone who worked at a YCS) does the smell ever get to you? Or do you get immune to it?

Debbie and maizezoe and Kim - :wave2:

Donna - I'm sorry your dinner at Bubba Gumps was not a great experience:guilty: That's good though that they gave you ice cream and were apologetic.
**My screen name is on my license plate, and I bet other people tell me to slow down too as I'm passing them on the street - I have a bit on a lead foot :car: :rotfl:

HERSEY - That stuff can make you loopy :upsidedow

Chrismiss - Welcome back!!!!!! Thanks for coming back!!! I hope you continue to post because we would love to get to know you :grouphug:
**I have a good friend whos DD has been working at WDW for many years. She is currently serving at The Garden Grill.

geffric - How was your evening last weekend with your friends? I bet you had fun!!! :cool1:

Well, I gotta run - lots to do today!!!
Have a good day everyone!!

Hi to all of the new peeps! Since we are making formal intros, I will join in! I am a divorced mom of two. Ds is 7 and dd is almost 6. I am working on a bachelors degree to teach hs english (3/4s of the way done!). I currently live in the New Lenox/ Joliet area but am moving to central IL in the next month or so. I've been to WDW way too many times growing up. I told my mom she is responsible for my obsession. She brought me up "Disney." So far, my kids have been there 3 times. My fave resort is CSR, but if I had more money (not likely on a teaher's salary) I'd stay at Poly!
Slo- Adjustable waists are a must! That, or slim pants. Oh, to have that problem, right?
Geffric- Saw that announcement...I know some people don't like it, but I sure do!:thumbsup2
Hersey- Love those projects for the kids. Yeah right. You know all the parents end up do the majority of the work!
Chrissmiss- What an amazing opportunity for your dd! I wish I had done that when I was younger. Oh well. That's what retirement is for! Btw, where was that reception in Mokena?
Sam- Congrats on the cruise! How fun!
DonnaW- Haven't been to Da U.P. for a long time, but I remeber it was really beautiful up there!
Well, better start the day. Just finished my Life cereal (remember that poll, Slo?) and need to get ready. I am meeting a friend for lunch later today! I think I like this summer break business!

Just a quick drive by since I have to get the boys to school a little earlier today.

chrismiss56 -- Welcome

Becky - Are HSM on Ice tickets still available? Steph would love to go :)

I just went to Ticketmaster and the only thing that came up is "parking" :confused3 that's for the United Center (they have several shows some at Allstate and some at the United Center). I know if you go to StubHub though there are tickets available, since I checked. None for the Saturday show though at the moment (some could come up later though). That's the site I used when I had to sell my extra HSM concert tickets and all went well with it. That seems to be one of the ones with reasonable prices.

I'm sure if you do a search, you can probably find TONS of tickets via ticket agents, just depends on how much you want to pay. All of them are over face value though.

Off to get the munchkins to school & then DS-3 has a class so will be back later!

Hi, everyone!! I think I'm back!!

I ended up not getting a new laptop. I had mine fixed. It only cost a total of $150 to have it fixed - compared to $1400 for a new one. I'm just hoping this one lasts until I get my Disney trip paid for. ;)

:welcome: to all the new people!!

Now I need to go back through and catch up with all of you!! Hopefully it won't take too long!! :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

mvazul- glad you had a great time at the Cubs game and they won! :cool1:
I can't remember, is it you or someone else here that lives in Wrigleyville?
(lives a few blocks from Wrigley).

Yes, we live a few blocks from Wrigley. The closest major intersection to us is Irving Park and Western. We are within walking distance to the Friendly Confines!! ;) We will be heading to another Cubs' game next Tuesday night. We are taking both of the kids with us this time. I can't wait!!

Good Morning All!!:goodvibes

Just taking a quick moment from work - I work at a dog training, boarding, grooming and daycare facility. I work the front desk:dog: paw: It is an interesting job and I get to do what I do best TALK ALL DAY:rotfl:

mvazul- Another die hard Cub fan here - used to live on the Northside and take the EL to Wrigley when it was safe for a 11yr old to do

Becky - DD22 Cast Member says that kids are NUTS for HSM down at WDW. My DD's are alittle to old but have the DVD and enjoy it.

paintnolish - The wedding reception was at a banquet facility (DeNoli's??) on 191st just off of LaGrange Road. Good Luck with school. I subbed for 7 years, 4 of them in a high school. Admire educators for what they deal with today. More and more they are becoming "surrogate parents" to those kids whose parents are not able to "be there" for them

SLO AND EVERYONE ELSE- GOOD MORNING!!:dance3: :flower1:

Have a Magical Disney Day!!:tink:
