KimRaye P.S. My baby bro joined the DIS. Watch out for "blame my sister" - that's his screen name! He's DVC after ONE trip!! He's taking his 2nd trip next month already! (I'M SOOOOOOO JEALOUS!!!)

Is this the brother that didn't want to go? Still pretty funny:rotfl2: Besides if he is a NICE Brother he will cut you a deal.

I can't believe the weekend is over! All that cleaning I did, my floor are a mess again. Dogs!

Who was that that was saying they were getting a puppy? I love my dogs but could I have clean floors too :confused3 I guess I'll just walk behind them with a mop.

Oh I read they are showing a preview of the new POTC on Dancing with the stars.

This weekend went by way to fast!!!!
I'm already looking forward to next weekend:rolleyes:

ATTENTION: GMA is showing a preview of POTC 3 this morning!!!!! pirate:

HERSEY - What did you use to clean your qrout? Just curious, for when I want to do mine someday.

Debbie - I'm always keeping my house temp down too. Luckily, the only one it bothers is me, so I'm always walking around in flannel and bundling up in a blanket

Bunchkin - Thanks for the HSM on Ice info. I sure hope we can take Stephanie to see that - she would love it!!!!!

mac - I didn't ask Stephanie why the Priest was smiling alot (I really want to though). The stuff kids say is probably pretty cute, it would probably make me smile alot too :teeth:

geffric - I'm sorry about Eric hurting your feelings:guilty: I'm so not looking forward to older children - I know comments like that will hurt my feelings. I need to get a thicker skin:rolleyes:

Jedi - Did you have fun when you went out with your friends for St. Patty's Day? :cool1:

Kim - How's Kelly doing? Is she still playing soccer? How's everything at your job?

Well, I gotta run and get ready for work
Have a good day today everyone!!!

geffric So if the movie is a no-go, then what will he do with you?
Do you guys: Ice skate, roller skate, bowl, wall climbing??--trying to think of things a 12 yr old might like to do.

13 and going into high school is a difficult age and they are trying for independance.. so anything with your MOM is not fun only with your friends..

i remember that age now...........mine said the same thing.
and when i wanted silence, i would take a son and let him pick a friend to go to the movies with.

i would drop them off and then pick them up.

then it was always the friend of son that would yak with me n the car ride home about the movie while mine sulked.....

i'll think of something for you two to do.........and i won't mention movies again

Thanks..

Hello all!!!

I pulled the suitcases out yesterday and Hunter has already started packing! :rotfl: Of course it's mostly random items that will NOT be making the actual journey!! ;)

I kind of have some cool news!! :)
I make really neat-o autograph books for the kids when we go to WDW. And I started showing them to people recently.
One of whom was a mom of my Brownie troop. They are going to WDW next month.
Well, she wants me to make one for her girls!! And I'm getting PAID for it!! WooHOOOO!!!! Tony thinks I asked for too little $$, but I think it's a fair price. :)
This mom has a few friends that are WDW freaks (like us!! ;) ) and she says she will show them her book and asked it I would put together a portfolio of all of the ones I've made.

I'm just really excited to be able to give them an autograph book that I know will really bring them great character interaction!! We've always gotten such positive feedback from the characters and CM's about our books. :yay:

Kim Hit your brother up for a stay at his home-away-from-home!!!
Please get here more often!!! You're missed!! ::yes::

slo Is Stephanie excited about the new HSM2 coming out?
That's funny about the priest smiling at her!! I wonder what she told him?? :rolleyes1

Gotta run Hunter to school!

Bye!! :wave2:

Hi all! Quick fly by......
Had a busy Sunday. Visited my grandma at the nursing home and then we went to a neighborhood dinner function thing thru my church. Actually had corned beef. Haven't eaten corned beef in many yrs. The theme of the dinner was St. Patty's Day.

Need to do some birthday shopping. Have 2 kiddie birthday parties this weekend!

Tiggerrn- how was your DS's Pinewood Derby? How did he do? Sounded like you had a busy weekend, too!

Slo- glad all went well with the First Reconciliation ceremony :thumbsup2

Mac- glad all went well dropping your DS at Union Station. Thanks for the tv listings :thumbsup2

Donna- how was the Pet Expo?

Geffric- does Eric like to do swimming? Waterworks in Schaumburg has open swimming on Saturdays. At our CRC(Community Recreation Center).
Also, does he like those virtual reality video games? Gameworks is usually open at Streets of Woodfield. I have no clue how much admission is there at GameWorks. Haven't been at Gameworks in years, but it's probably on the expensive side.

Ok, gotta run.
Have a good day everyone!

Bunchkin -- That's cool!!!

I just survived a 3-year annual review for my oldest DS! WHEW! Those are L-O-N-G. It's for his learning disability plus I'm so depressed....I no longer have bragging rights. :lmao:

I always said he was a really smart one and he actually tested in the "highly above average" the first time we got him on an IEP (Individual Education Plan -- basically modifications at school). I was told at the time only 3% of the population tests there. So, I always used that as it wasn't just a mom's bias for thinking he was really smart, that I had proof. :rotfl2:

Well, for some reason -- he now only testing in the average range on the psychologists testing. Hmm....we have a different psychologist now though.

Either that or the fact that we don't get out as much as we used to might have something to do with it (harder to drag 4 kids off to museums and things like that -- Hmmm....maybe I need to get going on that WDW trip again after all it CAN be educational -- right?).

The psychologist had no idea why the test varied so much from 3 years ago. The only suggestion was that his peers caught up to him or something. I'm still going to go with the first test though -- I like those results better. ;)

At least it's over with and I can now plan our summer (I always have to wait to see if he goes to summer school. He usually does but had to wait to see if it was official or not.) His Cub Scout leader won't be happy. He always gives me a bit of a hard time of DS not attending summer camp since the boys knock out a lot of requirements of things but it's not possible with summer school. This year they are offering a Twilight Camp, so we may try that.

He's actually home sick today due to a fever but his teacher said they had 6 students out today. :scared1: so something's going around. He will be home tomorrow too since he has to be fever free for 24 hours before going back. The fever is down right now, so hopefully it won't come back tomorrow and he can go back to school Wed. It messes with my schedule when they aren't in school, I forget what I'm supposed to be doing on what days. ;)

home from school........:teacher:
not the week to work, it's the week before spring break and i am doing seniors in high school English classes.......i think they are starting spring break now instead of next week....whew...

a dear friend of mine, tarheelmjfan, lives in florida.
she and her family + doggy will be doing a driving trip to chicago to see all the sites and then on to milwaukee for the german fest this summer.

she has some questions and i have been trying to get the info for her.
they will be staying at the hilton towers downtown. parking is very high there per day. grant park south garage is cheaper but does anyone know of cheaper lots they can use??

when she comes on sometime, don't know when yet, can you all share your opinions on sight seeing and parking in the city?

i am sending her some of the chgo tourist brochures on the basics but more opinions would be good also.

if i didn't have a 14 day trip planned for disney already, i would quit my job
that's what i keep telling myself but we know that's not gonna happen......:rolleyes1

uh, tarheel, you don't have to read all the pages before you post here, just jump in and ask any questions you need help on.

geffric works downtown and probably knows more than i do on some of the garage parking places in the 700 block of s michigan.
quite a few more do live in the city.

but if you do go back and read all 940 pages, be prepared for the test you'll be given when you come back !!

Hi Everyone! Quick fly by to say HI to everyone!
Busy days the next couple weeks for me. I finally got some half way decent Disney's HSM On Ice tickets (long story...I won't bore you all)! I DID get them through calling ticketmaster though so no Ebay or Scapers involved this time. Can't believe I am dealing with that 10 months before the actual event! Crazy!
BECKY... I can't believe I haven't heard from you about this yet!!!!!

BECKY... I can't believe I haven't heard from you about this yet!!!!!

Ummm....because I'm doing my airhead craziness? Can I blame it on Mommy brain even though my youngest is 3? Hey, I completely forgot to take him to speech today due to my 10 year old being home sick.

Honestly, I saw the previous post but thought presale was going to be like it was for the concert and be staggered so it was going on presale for the places it started out at & then it would be closer for when it got to Chicago.

What do I know. I'm not so sure my stress level can handle another insanity like the concert. :dance3:

Although, I've already decided it would just be DD & I this time, forget trying to coordinate friends -- too hard.

debbie, at this point, i'm afraid if i bought tickets for 10 months out i would either lose the tickets or forget i made those plans...

going to see art garfunkle / sp on the 27th next month at the genessee.
it's not that i am thrilled with them but mr mac is and this is what he decided we would do for our anniversary.

out with the green lights now for me.

sweet sleep

Today is going to be a busy errand day for me - lots to do!!!

geffric - Have you been able to think of anything to do with your son? How about an arcade? He can go his way and play games, and you can go your way an play games too (if you play games - I love to play skiball). :)

Bunchkin - That's great about the autograph book :goodvibes I would love to see one the next time we see each other, or The DIS Meet, because I may want a couple too :)

Rose - Sounds like you had a nice weekend :goodvibes

Becky - I hope your DS feels better soon!!! :wizard:

macraven - Boy, I bet those kids are difficult right before spring break. Good luck for the rest of the week :teacher: :wizard:

tarheelmjfan -

A friend of mac's is always welcome!!!!!
Thanks for stopping by!!!! Please come by often and join the fun - we'd love to have you!!!

Debbie - Congrats on getting the HSM on Ice tickets. Are they sold out now?

Gotta run and get Ms. Steph up for school :teacher:
Have a good day today everyone!!!

It's going to take me forever to read this, but I'll get there. :) In the meantime, as Mac noted we're looking for parking advice. The Hilton charges $41/night self parking, & $45/night valet. If we have to park there, we'll park valet. $4 + tips makes that an easy decision. We'd rather find something cheaper though. We're staying 5 nights, so we'd have to pay $200+ just for parking. Does anyone have any suggestions for a secure lot/garage near The Hilton & Towers @ Grant Park? It needs to be close enough for my DH to walk to it. We'd also like a lot that's guarded 24/7. In/out privileges aren't necessary. Once we reach our destination, we never move our vehicle. FYI, we'll be there during Lollapalooza, if it makes a difference. TIA :)

PS: I'm sure I'll have more questions later. That is, if Mac (a.k.a. super planner) gets tired of me asking her all of them. ;)

Welcome, tarheelmjfan :welcome:
Just wondering...have I seen you on the disABILITIES boards? Or that could be another tarheel DISser.I haven't been onthe disABILITIEs boards in awhile tho.

Unfortunately, I am not real familiar with parking near the Hilton and Towers.
I hardly go into downtown Chicago that much. I did take my RN nursing boards at the Hilton and Towers back in 1990, but someone else drove and I can't remember where we parked. Too long ago to remember.;)
I know every block or so downtown, there are parking garages. Most of these parking garages cost about $25 for at least 4 hrs of parking for hte day. Probably cost over $30/night. Chicago is real expensive as of parking garage parking unfortunately :sad2: I know in the past few yrs when I went to the Women of Faith conferences at the United Center(west side of the city), every time you come in and out of the United Center parking garage, it costed $20 just to park for a few hours  The conference was a 2-day event, so at least $40 charged for parking for a Friday night and Sat conference :sad2:
Maybe you can try googling "parking garages on Ohio Street in Chicago, Il"(where Hilton and Towers is)?
Maybe Geffric or Jedi would know??
Hope this helps somewhat :)

Hi all- Happy first day of Spring!! :flower: :butterfly :flower2:

I tried to get on the boards last night around 10pm and I just got this error message of some sort. I guess the boards were down last night?

Becky- sorry to hear of maybe not so good news of your older DS's 3 yr review/IEP conference. Maybe the school psychologist used a different assessment test? I know Chrissy and Matthew's 3 yr assessments seem to come out the same results as the 3 yrs before that. Chrissy has tested below average in the psychological assessments. She does have DiGeorge Syndrome(her secondary diagnosis that goes with her heart diagnosis). DiGeorge deals with cognitive delays and other things.
Matthew has tested average on some things and above average in other things(esp. math/analytical stuff).
We had our 3yr assessment last yr. Tomorrow morning is their yearly IEP reviews.

Hi to all

Gotta run errands today too!

Have a good day everyone! :flower3:

Good morning!!

slo Thanks for having interest in the autograph books! I will bring a few to the Meet if I don't see you before then.

tarheel No suggestions on the parking, sorry. I always park in the same places and none of them are near where you are staying.
Have a great time though while you visit Chicago!! :)

Happy Spring Everybody...

It's over, it's over, goodbye winter. Kiss my Backside, don't let the door hit ya in the butt on the way out!! LATER MATER!!

Well, it can only get better from here. Mr. Sunny shine :sunny: is on the equator and will begin to march northward!! Don't forget to try to balance an egg on its pointy side at precisely 7:07 p.m. this evening. Supposed to stand straight up (well either that or you'll be having scrambled eggs for breakfast). So, if April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring?? Do you remember this old joke from elementary school??

Happy happy - joy joy. Spring has sprung!! The groundhog was wrong, but that's okay we all survived anyway!!

:flower3:

Yay for Spring!!! :yay:

My favorite saying is: Don't let the door hit ya where the Lord split ya!!:rotfl:

Hi Everyone,

I have been busy buzzing around! The weather has been getting better. Yesterday was nice. Today it’s chilly but the sun is shining so we got that going for us. The kids are sick though so that’s a bummer. It’s the end of it though so we are back to running around.

I am trying to get my weight back in check. If I don't pay attention I gain weight VERY easily. I tried clothes on at the store and faced those dreaded dressing room mirrors! I didn’t like what I saw. So for the last couple days I have cut down on the carbs. I avoid white carbs. I don’t give up any fruits or vegetables. Boy, does my energy level really rise. It is truly amazing how your eating habits can change how you feel. That along with some more sunlight really does the trick for me.

The Ultimate 10 Walt Disney World is on right now!! I can’t wait to be there again. You guys are lucky those of you going so soon!!!

Hey, I lost the DIS last night. Anyone else???
