Hi all - wasn't that weather PERFECT today???

of course if you don't count looking at my floors everytime the dang dogs came in from outside...it's this time of year I wish I had smaller dogs!!

vickynmickey - I saw that today, I live in Crystal Lake, so not all that far away. It's very sad & tragic.

Are you guys all busting out of here for spring break? We're going to Ft Myers! - & I'm sneaking away with the girls for one day at MK. I just need to relax...it's been so busy lately, & oh the drama of everyday life! is just so....well dramatic!

need to go check on my girls

Hi GANG! I am like a new women with this weather! It just makes for a great mood!
Grrrrr... can you believe Comcast in Chicago doesn't have the Travel Channel available???

I have Comcast North/Northwest and I DO get the travel channel. But I too hate comcast for all the obvious reasons!

If this worked for me, this is an old Disney Parks photo thread. It is hilarious to look at the clothes even more than the park photos.
I'd be embarrassed to put myself out there. What were our parents thinking??:lmao: :rotfl2:
Debbie, you'd love this one if you haven't found it already.

Thanks...love these threads!!!

I got my house pictures up...here they are! :woohoo:

There are captions if you click on one and go through them that way.

NICE!!!

I have only checked in on this thread a few times before but I am saddened tonight by news that friends and I found out today. The Chicago Apartment fire that killed the 4 young adults from Belvidere has touched closer to my heart then wanted. I worked with one of the young guys that was killed early Saturday morning. Jerod Pilgreen was 22 and a very passionate person for life. He worked as a CNA in a Nursing home that I work at. The residents just loved him to death and they are all very devasted by the loss of such a great person. He is going to be missed so much!!!! He had the most amazing smile and heart that went along with it.
If any of you live close enough to accident site, could you stop by and put a flower down for us here that wish we could stop by and say goodbye. Or maybe just stop and say a prayer for his family and close friends. At least he left this world with friends in tow, they were a very close nit group of friends.
Thanks for listening:sad1:

I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. It is a terrible tragedy that I can not even imagine going through. I will say a prayer for him and his friends.

I am loving my TIVO!!!
I am also loving the new Disneylink.
I also placed another Disneystore order becuse they had a few good deals I was interested in.
Still need to plan the June WDW days.

Have a good night.

:goodvibes

Is that about a 3 hour drive (Ft. Meyers to Orlando)?

jedi I don't have Comcast. I have Direct TV!! But I do have Comcast for internet service. I will NEVER go back to Comcast cable.
I love having SoapNet so I can watch my soap at night or a week's worth on the weekend since I don't get to see it during the day!! :)

So what do you think about Toby trying out for a reality show? As a pirate?? ;)

Have you tried the burrito bowl at Chipotle? I love those!! :goodvibes

Debbie Glad to hear you are in a good mood! :goodvibes
You better get planning, as June will be here before you know it! :thumbsup2

VickynMickey Sorry to hear of the loss of your friend/co-worker.

The kids and I played outside tonight after dinner!!!
Hunter was driving through the yard in his new Grave Digger monster truck he got for Christmas. It's one of those Power Wheel things.
Needless to say, he ran over my foot!!! :rotfl: Luckily, it didn't hurt too much. ;) But he ran over the foot with the numb toes, so maybe I really didn't feel the full effect of the pain!!! :lmao:

Chris, We are leaving in 12 days. What day will you and the girls be in the Parks?

Tuesday March 27th....We'll be leaving Ft. Myers at 5am

Is that about a 3 hour drive (Ft. Meyers to Orlando)?

Yep exactly - We're leaving at 5am, hoping to arrive at main street by 9ish. SPending the entire day in the MK. The girls think we're leaving after Wishes...well I got a deal at the Hilton by DTD, and we're staying the night...then we're shopping at DTD for a bit then heading home by noon.

jedi I don't have Comcast. I have Direct TV!! But I do have Comcast for internet service. I will NEVER go back to Comcast cable.

Have you tried the burrito bowl at Chipotle? I love those!! :goodvibes
We still have Comcast - HATE THEM. We have 7 tv's (yes I know, talk to DH about it) so direct tv would end up costing more.

Yeah our problem is we have cable going all over the house (7 TV's, 4 hooked up to boxes)! We all share one bill (in this in law house) so Satelite would be too hard. Comcast has a cable monopoly though so I don't even know how they get away with it. Same with Com Ed and People's Gas but don't even get me started.
The weird thing is I think that we are getting more stations then before. I NEVER had SoapNet and now I do. I also get this station that is all Reality TV that I never got before...maybe I am losing it but I think they added more.
Good night
Nice surprise you got going there Scrappin. That will be great!
Bunchkin...glad you had fun outside with the kids!

OMG I'm so sorry! :sad1: How horrible. You're in my thoughts. I don't live far from there. I'll see if I get over there tomorrow night after work.

Bunchkin - Toby's been doing a lot of things lately that makes my head spin (think Exorcist). Do I even have a choice anymore? :rotfl:

Debbie and scrappinmom - 7 TV's???? WOW!!

HI ALL!!! longtime DISer... First time Poster here!! :wave2:

Dont have much to say right now... Just wanted to say hi to my fellow IL DISers!!!!!!!! :cool1:

:disrocks:

Hi, All!!

I am fairly new to Chicago. My DH was born and raised here, but as he likes to say, I was "imported" from North Eastern Pennsylvania!! :lmao: He had moved away and was gone from the area for almost 25 years. Now, he's back - with wife and kids in tow. We sold our wonderful 3 bed/2 bath home set on 5 acres in North Carolina to move in with my MIL in a house where we can, literally, pass sugar through the window to the neighbors. :headache: We are actually in the exact same house DH grew up in. (Long story behind the move. I'll spare all of you the details!)

I really love Chicago, but am finding it hard to adjust to living here. I grew up in an area where the biggest cause for a traffic jam was, because it was time to move the cows from one pasture to another. When my DH came to visit for the first time, I was giving him directions and told him to "take a right at the red light". He laughed and said, "Which one?" I laughed and said, "The only one!!" :rotfl: I love all there is to do here, but at times it can be quite suffocating just trying to get around.

We are in Chicago. We're not ones who say we live in Chicago and actually live in the southernmost tip of IL!! :lmao: We are a few blocks north of Wrigley Field and just south of Lincoln Square. We have tickets bought for three Cubs' games this season!! :woohoo: I'm looking forward to those.

A question for those of you who have lived here longer....

My family is coming to visit over Easter weekend. It will be my mother, sister, father and his wife, and my 75 year old grandparents. We are going to have one day to do some sightseeing. My sister has been here once, but it's the first time for everyone else. Do you have any suggestions on what we could do? My GM can't walk very long distances, so we will be borrowing MIL's wheelchair. My GF is an old time farmer with a wonderfully wicked sense of humor. He is a school bus owner/operator. Plus, he does excavating and spends all of his time "playing" with bulldozers, backhoes, dump trucks, etc. I'm afraid he will be bored beyond belief. My GM is very easy going and will be happy to see anything. My mother is very energetic and loves anything new. My father and his wife are very much into Harley's. I'm thinking the Field Museum or the Lincoln Park Zoo would be a good compromise??? Any other ideas I'm not thinking of? We are also thinking of doing Ed's for lunch.

Anyway....I guess I have rambled enough. I'm so happy to have found this thread. Maybe I can make it all the way through each page one of these days!! :surfweb:

Welcome Disneenut and mvazul! :goodvibes

mvazul - I love Lincoln Park Zoo. If the weather's nice, that would be perfect. The Field Museum is nice too, but I my favorite is still the Science and Industry :cool1: From they way you describe your GF, I have a feeling he'd enjoy that more than the Field :goodvibes

I don't live too far from you! I'm between Lincoln Square and Rogers Park, not too far from Rosehill Cemetery! :thumbsup2

Any other ideas I'm not thinking of?

Sears Tower Skydeck. While those of us born and raised around here can tend to take things like this for granted, people who were not raised near any large city can find things like going up in one of the tallest buildings on the planet pretty darned cool! :) Plus, they can marvel at all the skyscrapers in the loop as they look towards the rooftops.

Of course, Chicago is famous for it's museums, but you've already mentioned the Field, so I think you've got that covered.

Hi Everyone! I was referred to this thread by some other very kind disers! We are moving from California to Rolling Meadows Ill. and were wondering how many people there were from the Chicago area on the Dis? this is very scary for us but I've heard a lot of good things. My kids are happy that we will be closer to Disney World but I wasn't sure how expensive it is to fly from there?
Thanks everyone!

Hello new friends.

mvazul I like Navy Pier but it is a lot of walking. This weekend is supposed to be cold again 40's.

helenm29 Flying out is as cheap and expensive as anywhere. I know not much help. You will be closest to Ohare. When's the big move?

Disneenut Welcome too jump right in we love to yack! :thumbsup2 Don't be shy.

Yesterday was a busy day.
Work was good, and then Steph had dance, and then immediately after that the girls as I went out to dinner with my parents, and my brother and his wife (poor Kevin had an FD meeting an couldn't go). It was a good day, just a busy day.

Today I have alot on my list of things to do after I take Katie to daycare.
Having the nice weather will make errands a pleasure :sunny:

macraven - I got a PM yesterday that Kathy was hopefully coming home last night. I hope she is able to check in to my FD Wives thread to let us know how she's doing. Thanks for asking!!!! :goodvibes

Tiggerrnnn - That's great the painter is done in the main living areas:woohoo: What areas does he have left?

HERSEY - How did Alex do on that big project you were helping him with a couple of weeks ago?

Bunchkin - Did you have to be bused into Bass Pro Shop? When Tim went they had to bus you in because there wasn't enough room in the parking lot. He said it was amazing to see the amount of people shopping there.

Jedi - I'm glad you liked your veggie tacos (they do sound good :goodvibes )
**Keep us updated on how Toby makes out in Vegas - it would be interesting to see him on tv if he's picked.

Vicky - I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend  How very very sad:sad1: I do not live close by, but I will still keep him, his family and friends in my thoughts and prayers. :grouphug: Whenever you need to talk, we will be hear to listen.

scrappinmoms - I had to chuckle about your floor, because I was just talking about this with my mom. When I had my Shepherd, my floors were a disgrace in the spring. This is the only thing I don't miss about having a dog. :dog:

Debbie - We don't have TIVO, but we do have the DVR with Comcast, and we love it too :thumbsup2

Disneenut -

Good Morning Chicago people!!!

What great weather we have in store for us today!!! :yay:

18.gif
to all the new people joining in on our thread!!! We hope you come by often!!

slo Glad to hear your friend Kathy is headed home. Please let us know how she is when you find out! :)

scrappin & Debbie 7 TV's!!!?????

jedi Sorry if Toby is making you  lately.
If he does make it on the show, let us know, and if it is one of those shows that the audience gets to vote for the participants we'll all vote him off for you!!! :rotfl:

Donna Thanks for concern about Tony's job. :) I shouldn't worry so much, but I do.

mvazul I have a friend who's new wife is from smallsville Iowa, so I can understand how you feel about moving to a big city based on our friend's experience. She was so culture shocked to say the least!! ;) Even living out in the 'burbs with lots of traffic and stores and the like was a little much for her to deal with in the beginning.
I hope you have a lot of fun and good times with your family while they visit!!

helenm29 Good luck with your move. When is it?
You will enjoy the area as there is so much to do. What part of CA are you from? We have relatives in Montclair we are visiting next month. :)
Airfare out of Chicago lately can be any where from $58 to $98 each way to Orlando.
There are a lot of Chicago area DISers, so make sure to stop by and get to know us!!

Well, I'm on a cleaning mission today!!
9.gif

And I can't remember if today is the day I invited my mom over for lunch or if it was Thursday???? I hope it was Thursday!!! :rotfl:

BUNCHY You come by me to clean I have a smaller place.;) where do you find your smilies? Your little cleaning lady is cute.

Slo Alex got a B+ it would have been a easy A, but one part of the project wasn't done on time. They had to make a travel brochure to their country and my computer at home doesn't have that program. I'm not spending over $100.00 on something I won't use again.

A Chicago question here.

Hope all is well with everyone.

An early Happy St. Patty's Day :shamrock: and Go Cubs!! :scratchin :woohoo:
