The crowd wasn't that bad he said. And only a few people chose to run to whatever they were buying when they got into the store.
The most crowded area at Target was the electronics dept., which is where he went to.
This is the second time he has gone out shopping early on Black Friday. It was actually his idea! :teeth: he has been scouring the online Black Friday ads for a week. :rotfl: And then last night we went through the one's in the news papers too. :teeth:
He is a total shop-aholic!!! And he knows it!!!! :rotfl2:

Good Morning everyone! Now that Thanksgiving's over, it's MY turn to host Christmas so that means I need to start cleaning NOW. :rotfl2:

I'm not saying I will...just that I really should start considering it but I have all these other projects that are just calling to me.

Anyway, we are basically being bums today. I haven't decided if I want to go out shopping or not. I'm not sure I want to really brave the crowds, when I can basically go anytime. :rotfl:

DH wants a real tree this year...I don't like real trees inside so it's a struggle. I think he is winning but I'm hoping I can hold out.

Hi all- Happy Day after Thanksgiving(or Black Friday)-
Not sure what we are doing today as dh is off, but he still has a cold. Chrissy still has a cold and cough and wants to be lazy- wants to be in her pajamas all morning. Dh wants to furniture shop, as we do need a new couch, but I really don't want to do it on Black Friday b/c of the crowds.
I tried to look up info of this local, small children's museum that's not too far from us, but I just found out it closed- museum is no longer open. So I guess we'll play it by ear today.

Bunchkin- glad everything went well at your mom's house and there wasn't much drama. Glad your Dh was able to get good deals this morning :thumbsup2

Mac- :grouphug: with your furnace and humidifyer issue. :grouphug: to get your son home from Mexico.

Slo- You didn't have to work today at the picture framing place you usually work at? Just wondering, being Black Friday and all ;)
Thanks for asking about yest. No, I have not heard from my SIL, which was fine with us :) Yes, we had a nice Thanksgiving at home. Dh did most of the cooking( I helped). We had a Butterball 3pound turkey breast, mashed potatoes, stuffing, pie. We rented some videos at Blockbuster, rented Raiders of the Lost Ark. Taped Chitty Chitty Bang Bang off the tv last night(kids wanted this movie taped). Watched ER last night- which the part with Abby was very good! :thumbsup2 Made a couple of phone calls yest morning to my grandma and DH's father. It sounds like a co-worker of dh's has invited us over to her and her boyfriend's house for next year's Thanksgiving, so that was very nice of her :goodvibes

Hi to everyone else :wave2:

And same to SamIAm, if she's still here. (Or even if she's not, actually! :rotfl: )

Hi Everyone,
Had a really nice Thanksgiving. :) Hope all of you did too. Sounds like those of you who posted did. We ended up just going by my side in Western Springs because of the last minute time switch-a-roo so it was obviously an easier day for me. Bad news is I could fight the kids germs no longer...I lost the war and am now sick myself. I am a big baby when I get sick too. I admit it! Thank Goodness for Alegra D! It really seems to help me function!

I so wanted to shop today. :drive: Prekids, I would have been out there with my Mom first thing but now it's just too much trouble with two little ones(my DH works). Plus, I don't feel good so it probably wouldn't be good to be out with no sleep anyway.

OK Can we all officially get in the Christmas spirit now!??? I want to see all of you frosted too!
I LOVE CHRISTMAS!! :bounce:

I was thinking maybe we could all talk about some of the favorite gifts we have gotten or given and that way we can share gift ideas.

I'll start....I have was given the SCOOBA as a gift and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! You can not imagine or believe how great it actually works unless you try it. I have hardwood floors and with too little kids it is a dream come true! A little pricey but worth EVERY penny! Sandy, this sounds like something that would be right up your alley!

Bunchkin,,can I ask where you shopped on-line today (since I may not leave the house)?

Talk to you guys later!

Have a great weeekned everybody!!

Good evening all. Got up and went Black Friday shopping with my sister. Bought a new DVD and VHS player/recorder. Hope to copy all my stuff from all my little VHS-C tapes and miniDVDs to regular DVDs this winter. Good indoor winter project. Hope it works well. Haven't tried it out yet. With my lack of computer posting pasting skills, this may not be any better. :rotfl:
Bought some things for DS as well. He's in to Transformers this year. Had some good deals at ToysRUs and Target for those today.
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.
Trying now to do my "frost" santa mickey in my sig. Seem to be having just as much trouble as I did with the Thanksgiving. :rotfl2:
I promise, one day, I'll get it.

SamIAm and DisneyMama73 have a GREAT TRIP, enjoy the sun, and take lots of pix for the leftbehinds!!!! :thumbsup2
And YEAH, I made my Mickey Santa work!!!!

Just FYI -- High School Musical Pop up Edition is on right now.

I love the "pop-up" stuff. I completely forgot it was on until DD flipped the TV on.

Cool!

good evening chicagoland homies.

hope you all had fun today. for those of you that shopped, wasn't it a nice warm day for it !!

i spent the day at home waiting and then paying many repairmen....
first year i have missed shopping early bird for black friday.

furnace guy returned for a small fix up.
plumber came, fixed problem
garage door, the side one.......long story short, was replaced today but the dude has to recaulk on monday again another day i can't work.

so, right now, the things are fixed and that is a good thing.

knock on wood.....

Hi.. Thanksgiving was very nice at our house. and then we did the Black Friday thing this am. So now I am going to start baking for the cookie/ornament/white elaphant party that i am going to on Saturday. I need to bake 8 dozen of something to bring.

Today we have some boy scouts over to work on the first aid meet, and Geoff has a paper to write, and Eric has a presentation to write and get ready for school. Tomorrow am is part 1 of geoff's eagle project. The Sunday i will bake and cook all for my family only I get to bring it to my sister's.

mac glad that things got fixed at your house... what is the word from your son?

hi geffric........word on the son so far.....still waiting and hoping to hear from him tonight.

i had to change the ticket to the tune of an additional $100 as he did not reach me to find out he had a seat booked on a flight last week.

it was that or lose out completely.
rebooked and hope he calls so he can come home now.
if i don't hear from him tonight, i'll have to rebook again as his flight is tomorrow night.

the cell phone he has used goes dead or is full of static when he calls.
the last time i did talk to him was brief and told him i have an electronic ticket for him but he didn't get the date as the phone went dead.

i know i will connect with him as his visa is to expire very soon.
he'll have to buy a different cell phone to call me on.

thanks for asking.
when i find out, i'll post it here.

This morning is the girls annual Christmas picture morning. Our appointment is at 10am, but we need to leave her by 9am to make sure we not only get there in time, but so I also have to time to do some last minute primping on the girls before the pictures are taken. I have everything layed out for easy getting ready this morning - dresses, tights, shoes, fake hair, crystal tiarras (sp?). This is always a stressful morning for me because I want to make sure everything is just right. :thumbsup2

Yesterday was successful. We are officially decorated for Christmas :Pinkbounc Our house looks wonderful!!!! I still need to get some last minute items, but for the most part, it is 95% done :teeth:

Bunchkin - Good luck with your pictures today :wizard: Where are you going?

Becky2005 - I hope you had a nice relaxing day around the house :)

Rosemarie - I'm glad you had a nice Thanksgiving :goodvibes
**To answer your question - I haven't worked the day after Thanksgiving since I became a manager 12 years ago. The rest of our staff is in school, and they are off that day, and they like the hours. Plus, we are never busy that day because all the customers are at the malls, Targets and places like that on that day, so we are actually kinda dead that day.

disneymama73 - Have a wonderful trip!!!!! :cool1: We want a full TR when you come home!!! :teeth:

Sam - You have a fantastic trip too!!!! :cool1: You guys need to tell Mickey that Nicole and I will see him in about a month :thumbsup2

Leigh - :wave2:

Debbie - I'm so sorry you aren't feeling well :guilty: I'll send alot of PD your way for you to feel better soon :wizard:

Tiggerrn2 - Looks like you were successful with your shopping yesterday - that's great!!! :thumbsup2

macraven - I'm glad everything got fixed for you ysterday :) Hopefully no more problems for awhile :wizard:

geffric - Have fun at your party tonight :cool1:

Well I gotta run - have a good day today everyone!!!

Happy Saturday everyone!!

Yesterday DH put up the outside Christmas lights. He did a wonderful job! And luckily didn't kill himself when he was hanging off the roof!! :rotfl: We have a tall 2 story house. We also put net lights all around the kids play house and then put our light up snowman by the door to it. It looks so cute! :)
Did some decorating inside, but not much. So we'll have to get some more done today and tomorrow.

slo We are going to Sears this year for the kids pictures. We have to be there by 10:30. And I still need to iron the new skirt I got Lauren. And I have no idea what I'm going to do with her hair yet. I did blow dry it really nice for her last night. But who knows if it will keep that shape today. One side of her hair, by her chin, like to flip under nicely and the other side likes to flip out no matter how much you try to make it go under. It drives me crazy!!
Good luck with the girls pictures today! I'm sure they are going to come out wonderful, as usual!

Debbie Most stores web sites were honoring the same prices shown in the ads. However, we did find that some items were only available in the store only. For instance, we did some shopping at Circuit City's web site to buy MP3 players (great prices!!). We also wanted video chairs from there as well, but those were only available in the store.
Disneyshopping.com sent an email about $20 off a purchase of at least $60. And they are having great sale prices as well.
A lot of places are offering free shipping too. We noticed this in the ads as well.
Sorry to hear you're sick. It's kind of hard to avoid the kids colds! Hope you feel better soon. :thumbsup2

macravenGlad all your house repairs are done! Home repairs are so expensive! But your house got some nice, new Christmas presents early this year! :thumbsup2

Tiggerrn Glad you were able to get out and take advantage of all the great stuff on sale yesterday!! :teeth:
Did you eat Thanksgiving dinner at work?? Hospital food....BLEECCCHHHH!! :rotfl: When I was in the hospital earlier this summer I couldn't wait to get out and eat 'real' food!! :teeth:

SamIAm I hope you and Megan have a WONDERFUL trip to the House of Mouse!!! Are you all packed yet???? :teeth:
Please give us a trip report when you get back!! :cool1: Is your DH going to be able to fend for himself all week?? :rotfl: He can come here for a home cooked meal if he gets tired of take out! :rotfl:

Disneymama I hope you and the family have a great time at Mickey's House!!! Take lots of pictures and share them when you get back!!!

geffric 8 dozen cookies!!!!! WHOOAAAAAA!!! That's a ton of cookies to bake!! Have lots of fun tonight at the party!! :teeth:

Gotta run and get everyone fed and out the door!!
Hello to everyone I missed!! :wave2:

Have a great day everyone!!!

Good morning everyone :goodvibes

So I made it through another Black Friday. I did go out at 5 am, but of all the stores I went to, the craziest was Menards  That was unexpected!

Thanksgiving was very nice - not as many came this year, but we still had 15 or so. I still haven't sat down to watch Grey's Anatomy yet which I recorded. Yesterday I spent most of the day sleeping or relaxing, so I didn't get my decorations up yet. Hopefully today!

disneymama73 and SamIam - Have a wonderful time in WDW! You're so lucky :teeth:

slo - I remember working on Black Friday when I worked part time in college and high school. I've worked at Osco (Jewel-Osco), Michaels, the Disney Store and Carsons. I don't miss retail one bit

mac - I hope you hear from your son and that he comes home real soon. I know there's a huge Bookfair going on in Guadalajara right now. I know several librarians who are down there. (Not that it has anything to do with anything, but I just thought I'd mention that  )

roseprincess - it sounds like you had a nice Turkey day without any family drama. :teeth: Did you say that your turkey was 3 pounds? Ours was a whopping 24 pounds!!!

bunchkin - I heard about the traffic for the outlet mall over there!! I guess they had opened really early? That was nice of DH going out! For years, DH used to go with me but a few years ago, he decided no way was he doing that anymore. BUT, this year, something at Best Buy caught his mind, so he went, but they had already opened (he went after 5) and I guess it was already a madhouse. I think he spent the same amount of time at Best Buy that it took me to go to Golf Mill mall and Menards. Amateurs :rotfl2: He kept calling me on my cell or text messaging me to complain about stuff. It was quite amusing :teeth: He did get what he went for, though.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Good morning everyone! Glad to hear everyone turkey day went well.

Mac You have had a expensive couple of days :grouphug: I don't like spending that kind of money on house things.

Slo forgetting to put out things is my family trait. We have had sweet potatoes with dessert many times :rotfl:

We went out for a liitle while yesterday most of my christmas shopping is now done Just 3 more people

good late afternoon chgoland homies.

you all put me to shame. getting your trees and decorations up and shopping down. whew, get tired just reading how busy you all are.

yes, house repairs finished. hershey, i agree. if i can't wear it or eat it, it is no fun spending money on it.

but, we do have heat and running water now so that is the next best thing to spend money on.

i usually do my tree around dec 22 or 23.
i do it all alone and that's about the only time i have. its done under stress :rotfl: :rotfl: ...i do work better then :teeth:

we all enjoy the tree but no one wants to do the work.
one year i left it up to february since no one volunteered to help me take it down. think i will try for march this coming year.,.....lol

catch you all later.
how is the poll coming?
any decisions to make yet?

i'm excited for meeting as many of you as i can. :cheer2:

Hi everyone, this is going to be a hard post to type... got some fake nails for my trip tomorrow. Want to look pretty for Mickey! Wow this is hard. Thanks for all the well wishes everyone!! I am very excited. Bags are packed, Mag Express stickers stuck on and we are ready to go!!

We are getting up really early and Megan is in the tub right now. She will be getting up around 5:15 a.m. and I'll be up at 5:00 a.m.! Sheesh! But Mickey is worth it!!

It seems a little unreal that the time is finally here! I've been planning a long time!! Well, this is it... time to go! See you all when I get back on December 3rd. I'm glad I don't have much typing to do this week! :rotfl:

Pixie Dust all around!! pixiedust:

Be good while I'm gone okay!!

samIam....have a great trip.

eat lots of mickey bars for the homies back home here....

enjoy the vacation.
