If ya send them down I-290 onto I-88, there's a Lou Malnotti's in Naperville. If you don't want to go that far, I'm sure there's one closer to the city. In fact, I believe there's one in Schaumberg. I'd check their web site @ http://www.loumalnatis.com/locations/. I'm just not sure which are carry out only.

There you go, meet at IKEA - or Rainforest Cafe at Woodfield Mall... (that's where I met an online Disney poster!!)

:cool1:  :Pinkbounc
GUESS WHAT!!! DH stayed home from work today so he could call the wgn radio and get me tickets to the GIRLFRIEND CONVENTION!!! :woohoo: He got through!! My cousin and I are going Feb 2 & 3!! :cheer2: :cloud9: I'm so excited!!!

Hi all, happy Friday-
What yucky weather we have today :guilty: . Hope all enjoyed hte nice weather we had the last 2 days.
Been busy today running arrands and yest. too.

Debbie- sorry you couldn't get the HSM tickets today :guilty: . I saw a commercial this afternoon on Cartoon Network that HSM tickets going on sale tomorrow with Ticketmaster. Is this who you tried to get tickets today from?

Becky- did you get thru to get your HSM tickets?

Eeyore 45- Congrats on winning tickets to the Girlfriends convention! :cool1:  . Can I ask, what is that? I looked at hte WGN radio website just now, but don't see anything describing about this convention you are talking about.

Slo- how did getting your picture taken go today?

Welcome 4lilpoohs :welcome:

Geffric-Answering your QOTD, not sure what we are doing for Thanksgiving dinner. I know we will be visiting my grandma at the nursing home sometime that day. My mom doesn't want to cook (tho the past few yrs, she hadn't cooked anything for Thanksgiving). I know it sounds weird, but my parents are ordering food trays for themselves from the nurs. home to eat with grandma. My mom said this is their Thanksgiving meal  . Dh and I would invite my parents over for dinner, but there isn't room in our small condo. Dh would like to pre-cook Thanksgiving dinner and bring to my parents house, but my mom won't allow that. She doesn't want her kitchen messed up(according to her) :sad2: . In the past, not last yr, but a couple of yrs. ago, my aunt, uncle, and cousin came from out of town to visit with grandma. Didin't sound like anyone from out of town coming in this yr. So if anyone would like to invite the 4 of us for Thanksgiving, that would be great! We can bring a dessert! :teeth:

No, I bombed. They are doing a pre-sale today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that maybe tomorrow they will release more seats? I don't know. I guess it's my fault for wanting 6 seats & don't want to pay scalper prices. :rotfl2:

I have been trying since 10 AM this morning and gotten NOTHING for 6 tickets.

I have talked to DD to see what she wanted to do -- if she wanted me to try for 6, then go to 4 (I already talked to 1 mom & friend) and then go for 2 if no luck. She was then wanting to know if she could have a party with the other ones or maybe just do a HSM type party here at home.

I told her that our chances are slim to none that I will be able to get the 6 tickets. I will give it the old college try tomorrow but that's about all the effort I'm going to go to. Since I saw them on-line brokers wanting $300 - $450/piece for tickets I'm just not going to go there. The ones I've seen on e-bay are for 4 tickets only so that doesn't do me any good either plus inflated prices. I'm too cheap to do that & we will just come up with something else. Our original plan was to go see Joseph & The Techincolor dreamcoat at Paramount, so we might just go back to doing that instead. It's closer & I know I can get tickets.

WGN talk radio - I'm addicted!! I listen all the time... love it!! Kathy and Judy are the 9 am to noon hosts, they laugh, and talk, and you do feel like a "girlfriend" so a few (8 maybe) years ago the WGN was into fan conventions (Cub, they did one at a Pumpkin farm raising money/food for needy) well - this one took off!!

http://wgnradio.com/shows/kathy_judy/convention2007.htm

Last year it was on my birthday, and I begged dh, I didnt get tickets (like this year, it sold out!) BUT - they have a "secondary market" - same price, people call, like my cousin and I are going, she called, didnt get in, but if she did, we would have FOUR tickets, but only need 2 - so we'd give back those two tickets, or "advertise" through WGN radio host Kathy - - and last year I did contact them, and they gave me a list of 20 or 30 people that had extra tickets to sell - and it worked out for me!!

We have to call in Jan I think to get the hotel rooms - I could buy them now, cheaper online, but I think the convention is reserving ALL the rooms with TWO bathrooms!!! So I'm going to wait!!

The ticket price seems high, but you get your meals - and then downstairs Friday and Saturday they have a booth with things like Seattle Sutton, Walgreens, etc...and they had 2 psychic readers... they also have a convention schedule - last year yoga, and then Kathy and Judy have a sex talk Thursday, so they had something educational last year (vibrators!! :rolleyes1 educating!! :rotfl: )

so that probably is WAY too much information -
but I'm excited!!!

so excited!! My cousin lives in northwest IN, and since my inlaws and parents moved, I never get there anymore! We decided with or w/o wgn we should make this a priority - a getaway weekend!!! Just us girls!!!

Good evening Chicagoland.
Welcome to the newbies here. Sorry I've been AWOL the past two days. Been busy. Spent yesterday traveling to O'Hare to pick up a friend from England. She's visiting for the next 3 weeks at my mom's. Then had PT conferences last night and had to get the trees set up for the craft fair this weekend. If any of you are in the Crete area this weekend, stop in at the High School on Exchange Street. The trees around the district look great and you can buy raffle tickets for chances to win the trees. A couple of them have lottery tickets on them and one has a bunch of gift certificates for area restaurants. Some really cute trees, plus the craft booths are usually great with some cool gifts that can be given as presents for Christmas.
Kids did great for first trimester. DD got straight A's. I promised her $5 for every A. Little did I know I was going to be broke. She made high honor roll. She is a good student. DS did well also. They don't give letter grades until 3rd grade, though. But he is doing very well.
Today I finished my painting, called carpet companies for free in home estimates, did the laundry and traded Halloween decor for Thanksgiving decor. I refuse to give in to the Christmas commercialism before Thanksgiving. :rotfl2: I will be working on Thanksgiving. Pressed turkey and fake stuffing for me courtesy of the hospital. :sad2: I told DH to feel free to bring me some real turkey dinner. Doubt he will though-he'll be too busy sleeping off the turkey in front of the football games. :lmao:
Slo glad to hear you are on the mend. Hope your pix turned out well.
Becky and Debbie-sorry to hear you didn't get your tickets. HSM is so popular. Maybe they'll add a show.
Well, better get to bed. The 5am buzzer rings all too soon. Nighty night.
Green light out.

Hi everyone.
Today was my DD's 4th birthday. princess: We did Chuck E Cheese during the day just for the games and then Outback for dinner. She had fun. Asked me if she could have her birthday again tomorrow. She was so happy today!

Things have been kind of crazy on my end so forgive me if I haven't kept up on what everyone is up to. I do look forward to reading about all of you guys each day. It's my little escape. I feel like I am starting to get to know all of you little by little.

Hi to everyone else. Hope you all have happy healthy weekends!

Still bummed about the tickets. I am pretty much on the same page as Becky but am looking for only 3 tickets. Oh well. We will see what tomorrow holds.

I thought this email that was sent to me today was funny.......

I SAW you Thursday, getting out of and into your van but, I was in DDs classroom (facing the PK street). I was there for DDs field trip. I was "confined" in the class room next to yours. :rotfl: I was also at Harvest party today but, in the afternoon. You probably had a party in the AM. ;) We are THIS close, 2 days a week! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

It's an early Saturday morning for me
I have another all day training class today - I"m so not in the mood!!!
But once I"m there, it will be okay.

4lilpoohs - Welcome back, we do every holiday too :)

geffric - To answer your QOTD, we host every holiday. Luckily both sides of the family get along wonderfully, so we can have everyone here at once :) I'm also lucky that both moms bring dishes so all the cooking isn't on me to do :) On the buffet is (we set the kitchen up like a buffet):
turkey
ham
stuffing
sweet potatoes
mashed potatoes
corn pudding
green bean casserole
cranberries
salad
pumpkin pie
and another dessert that I haven't decided on yet
I can hardly wait!!! :goodvibes

Debbie6221 - I'm sorry you didn't get your tickets :guilty:
**Also.........
4.gif

to your DD
I hope she had a wonderful 4th birthday!!!! :goodvibes

eeyore45 - How nice of your DH to do that for you :) You and your friend will have alot of fun!!!!

Rosemarie - The pictures went really well. The photographer has been a customer of mine, at the store, for years. Which is nice, because I know she wouldn't let me take a bad picture :thumbsup2 Once it's on the website, I will have to give you all the link.

Becky2005 - I'm sorry you didn't get the tickets either :guilty:

Tiggerrn2 - Have fun visiting with your English friend :)

Kim - Hi there!!! :wave2:

Well, I guess I better get ready for this class - have a good day everyone!!

Good Morning All!! :wave2:

Here I sit typing on my new Dell computer!! I'm so happy!! :cool1:
We've needed a new computer for a LOOOONG time!! :teeth:
It came last night. My new printer/fax/photo/scanner thingy won't be here until Monday though! Which is making it hard to get any printing done of course!!
But I'm still happy!!

Becky & Debbbie Sorry both of you didn't get any tickets yesterday! Hopefully today will be the day!! ::yes::

Eeyore Hope you have fun a the girl's convention!!

slo Good luck at today's trainings. Hopefully they won't bore you to death!! ;)
That's nice that the WHOLE family gets along and you can have holidays together. :)

geffric We are going to my mom's house for Thanksgiving. Which, I have to admit, I am not looking forward to at all. :( Family FUNctions are not FUN.

Lots to do today so I better get a move on!! :moped:
Have a great day!!

Good morning, Chicagland! Happy Veteran's Day! A special thank you to all of our vets and thoughts and prayers go out to our current troops....

Not loving this weather yesterday and today, but earlier in the week was just gorgeous, wasn't it?? :cool1: I am hoping we will have some nice weather next weekend for the Mag Mile Lights Festival! Are any other Chicagoans still thinking of venturing into the big city for that event? We truly look forward to our little "Disney in Chicago" fix each November and it kind of starts the whole holiday season off for us.

Sorry sort of a drive-by post, but a special shout out to EVERYONE!!! :goodvibes Hope you ALL have a GREAT day!!! :sunny:

Yes, Donna, we are still planning on going. ::yes::

In fact, we just got in the mail yesterday a brochure/flyer that lists all the events and activities that are going on that day!!! :cool1:
So much to do!! So much to see!!!

Should be lots of fun!!

I'm going next Saturday! I hope it's reasonably nice out that day. I wish I got a flyer. How'd you get that Bunhkin? I might even leave the baby home and just go with DH & DD.

I caved today and bought tickets for HSM on Ebay. They weren't too bad. I am glad I did now too because at 12:00 there was NOTHING left (that's when they went on sale to the public).
I am worried about Becky now. I hope it worked out for her.

See you guys later. Happy Saturday.
Debbie

I was able to get tickets for High School Musical. Had to split up but got 5 tickets (3/2). I wanted 6 but since I'm taking minors, it's not like I could have 1 seat for someone to sit by themselves.

I actually went to Carson's to do it & that seemed to work out the best. Still tense though. It was a bit unorganized though. They had a lottery that no one seemed to know about. Only 3 people had the lottery tickets so I was #4 in line. The 3rd person who had the lottery ticket in front of me, didn't even know about it either, she ran into the guy by accident. :rotfl2:

As soon as DD finishes getting ready I will be taking her over to open gym or if she takes too long (she's taking forever), then just for her cheerleading class.

I did it! I bought the townhouse! :yay: I got the new one that hasn't been built yet, not the resale. First we walked through the model again, and then talked to the saleswoman. She went through all the options with me and came up with the final price. Then she was trying to get me to buy it, but I wanted to go over to look at the resale again. So I said I couldn't do it right away, and we finally escaped.

So we went over and looked at the resale again. But looking at it more closely, it was kind of trashed. There were a lot of marks on the walls, and a bunch of stains on some of the carpets. Apparently the owner (a realtor, I think) had let some friends stay there, but they weren't keeping the house up, so he kicked them out. Not soon enough, I guess. Supposedly he would fix that stuff up before selling it, but I just decided that I didn't want to chance it. I think it will take a lot of work to get that place looking good.

So we took a drive around to look at where the unbuilt one will be. I was trying to see how close it would be to these little shops they're going to build. Then we went back to the office, and talked a little more, and they showed diagrams of how that area might look. I think the shop building (it will have shops/restaurants on the lower level, and offices/condos on the upper levels) won't be too close to me. Also over there is a park and a pond.

So I gave her the deposit and bought the house! Then I had to sign a ton of papers. :sad2: :faint: Finally, we were done, which was good, because my dad had to see his Florida Gators game. He didn't think we'd be gone so long, so he didn't tape it. :rolleyes1 So the last thing was taking the yellow "available" house off their little Monopoly board model and putting on a red "sold" house. So I bought a house, and it's little and yellow! :rotfl: The real house should be ready sometime in Feb.-April.

Here's a link to a tour of a few rooms of the model. Mine will of course be empty ;) , and the master bedroom won't have a vaulted ceiling or a show/soaker tub, just a regular tub.

http://tours3.vht.com/vt/CBI/virtualtour.aspx?ListingID=1055346

Also today, my little skater Evan won his first Senior Grand Prix event (they have a series of six each year), Cup of China! :cheer2:

It's been quite the day!

That's great news. Congrats and good luck with it all along the way!

Good evening. Work was light tonight. But I am so sleepy for some reason, so this will be short.
Leigh, the townhouse looks nice. Do you get to pick your colors scheme and carpets or are they preselected by the builder and then you repaint after you are in?
Slo, hope your class went well. Hope it wasn't too boring for you.
Bunchkin congrats on the new computer. Hope it's running great for you.
Planning a trip to IKEA tomorrow. DS really needs to be in a bigger bed. And we really need some new bar stools. After the kids tipped them over 40 times in the past few years, LOL, they are ready for the fire pit. Never been there before. Should be an experience.
Well, have a great rest of your weekend. Nite.

LeighCongrats to you on buying your first home!!! :cheer2:
They model looks very cute!! ::yes::
I have the same colors in my house as that model. :teeth:

Tiggerrn Have fun at IKEA!!! It's a big place so be prepared...it will be packed on Sunday!! ::yes:: They do have a kids play area there that your kids can go to. They can play there for up to 45 minutes. It's very secure and supervised. We let our kids go there every time we are there. They love it. :)
My new computer is absolutely WONDERFUL!!! Thanks for asking!! :)

Kim You're lurking early!! ;)

DH is on new furniture overload I think. He came home with a new dinette set today for the kitchen. We had been *discussing* a new set we like. And BAM...he comes home with it.
And we have no room to put the old one. (Meaning I don't want it in my basement!! ;) ) So I had to make a phone call to a friend's mom who is in need of one. And thankfully she wants it. So it's hers, no charge. That table was the oldest thing we own, I think. We've had it for 12 years, so I guess we got our monies worth out of it. :teeth:

We're seeing Santa Clause 3 tomorrow!! Can't wait to see it!! We just love the Santa Clause movies!! :cool1:
Anyone else see it yet??

Yesterday's class was so long - but still interesting and informative. These classes are well worth the time.

I slept in today until 8am, and now I'm doing some quick posts before I jump in the shower. We are going out today to look for X-Mas dresses for the girls, some new jeans for Steph, and a new X-Mas tree for the family room (because the raccoons in the spring had a lot of fun in our old one in the attic). Before we start our day, we are going to go out for breakfast - I love going out for breakfast :goodvibes

Bunchkin - I'm so happy for you that you got that new computer - how fun!!! :woohoo: :yay:

DonnaW - I'm really hoping for nice weather too for next weekend, because that will be my deciding factor on if we go or not. With us all getting over colds, I don't want to be out if it's freezing.
**Is Christopher coming home for Thanksgiving?

Debbie & Becky - Congrats on getting your tickets!!!! :Pinkbounc

Leigh - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
That's awesome news - I'm so happy for you!!!!!

Tiggerrn2 - Have fun at IKEA today!! :cool1:

KimRaye - :wave2:

Well, I gotta run and get ready to go shopping - have a good day today!!!

Slo You do such a fantastic job of summing up the posts, and I really appreciate it!! Sometimes I dont have much "play" time, but do read the posts... I respond in my mind!! :rotfl2: So thank you for taking the time, I can only imagine how busy you are!!

Bunchkin Looking good....

:cheer2: and :woohoo: To all the HSM ticket conquests!!! And I'm grateful I didnt have to go there!!! Dh used to stand in line to get concert tickets - then he found Grateful Dead did mail order!!

Lovely townhouse!!! CONGRATS!! How exciting!!! :cloud9:

Thanks for posting about that Mag Mile - Lately I've been crowd phobic, and of course weather phobic!! I saw on the news they unveiled the Macy windows... Mary Poppins looked different than Julie Andrews tho!! :rotfl:

I've started my Christmas shopping - I went to jtv.com and bought 4 pairs of pearl earrings (sterling silver backs) for $19.99 free shipping!! I think they are 8 mm in size too!! 4 different colors, only the black is 'enhanced'... DD got so addicted to the pearls in Japan at Epcot, that's all she's been talking about she wants real PEARLS!! :rotfl: I"ve created a monster!! :rotfl:
