Kevin.. sound like you have a celebration on your upcoming trip in only 1 week..

Mac what is happening at your end with your parents and your boys??

Jedi I have been thinking about you , how are you doing? Are you going to keep busy this weekend?

Crissup yep buying DVC in the early days have made a big difference for us too. remember when we got park passes too..

QOTD - Plans for New Years Eve??

I am going to my cousin's daughters wedding on New year's Eve. This is the 2nd New Year's Eve wedding. Last year, we went to Cleveland for a wedding too. I am looking forward to seeing my cousins and my aunt.
Hi geffric :wave2:

I hope your work deals come in for you :)
I do remember last yr you mentioned you were at the NYE wedding in Cleveland. Have fun at this wedding coming up!

Your QOTD- I, Dh, Dd, and Ds are invited to an old friend's house for a get-together -type thing with other families. It should be fun.

Hey everyone! Well, here we are with just a few days left in the year. Where does the time go?? My Dad once said, the older you get the faster it goes. I used to think he was just being pessimistic, but now I think he's right. :rotfl: I remember looking at the calendar thinking that 2006 would probably drag by seeing that I planned my trip for the end of the year. It flew by and now it's nearly gone.

2006 was a good year for my direct family unit, but we lost a couple really important people and one little one this year. I know my extended family will be glad to see the year be over. For Dan, Megan and I, we had a pretty good year. We got to take some trips here and there, we had no major problems and good health. Really, if you got health, you got it all. So, I guess I can only hope that 2007 remains that way. But, enough with the sentimentality...bring on 2007!!!

For all my fellow DIS'ers, I wish everyone health, happiness, and a good dose of pixie dust for 2007. And whatta ya know, I just got a peak of sunshine through my office window!! Gotta love that!!

:beach:

well doing my monthly check-in :) The girl's are getting older and they have been keeping me busy, busy, busy. I hope everyone had a nice Christmas.

have not heard from son in mexico. last time i did, he said he should tell a friend there to call me if something bad happens to him. i'm taking advice from hersey here, i'm letting go of this situation. if i do not receive calls, then that means he is fine.

i figure we may hit 5 fussess by noon................lol

Good Morning Everyone!:goodvibes

We have had stuff going on every day this week but it's been fun. My house is trashed but I seem to feel like that all the time. My DD4 has been acting up a bit lately so my New Years resolution is to try and be a better Mother, Wife and Daughter. I probably say that every year! Maybe if I can get some more structure in our days DD will settle down. She is really a terrible sleeper and eater so I blame that for a lot of the way she acts. So.....in 2007 more sleep and better eating all around! It can't hurt for any of us, right!

I can't believe a few of you are leaving soon! Doesn't it seem like you had the trip planned forever! Wow! Should be cool! I mean cool:cool2: not cool:cold: :rotfl2:

Have a wonderful day everyone and I will hopefully be back tonight after the kids go to bed! Wish me luck!

Debbie

Hi, everyone!

I'm stuck working at my part time job (filling in) but I'm only here for another 2 hours. I've been off from my full time, though, which has been nice! :cool1:

Christmas was really nice for me! DH was there with us and spent Christmas Eve and Day with me and my family, which was really nice :goodvibes Santa was pretty good to me, too! I got a new digital camera and some neat toys for my laptop (which is fairly new, too). I was really happy with the way the holidays all turned out.

Tomorrow, I think DH and I might go downtown and see the tree or if not, maybe the movies? Not sure.

Sorry to see some of you are working this week! :guilty: But at least it's a shorter week and so is next week - I miss some of my favorite smilies! :sad2: I feel like I can't "express" myself properly without them :rotfl2:

Wow, a tornado just went through my house. It was my Indy friend with her DD6, DS2, and DS1! :rotfl: We exchanged presents, and then the kids were all running around playing. There's even a picture on the wall that's crooked! Totally not used to having kids in the house. Her DS2 liked the sliding door into our powder room, so he started pretending that it was either a train or an elevator, and he would get us all to go in there. So it would be the three kids, me, and my mom, all in this tiny little room. And I think at the end his mom was even in there, too! He would close the door, wait, and then say Beep! and open the door. :goodvibes

I gave the 6yo a digital camera, just a Barbie camera, because she loves to take pictures with mine. But when we got it out, we realized there was no flash! So I started wondering if I should take it back and get a better one. So after she took some pictures, I put the software on my computer to see what the pictures were like, and they were good enough. She seemed happy with them. And she was even happier when we told her to hold the camera still so they weren't blurry. But then the camera wouldn't turn on, so I wasn't thinking and I took out the batteries and put them back in. It fixed it, but it also erased the pictures. :sad2: You should have seen her lower lip jut out as she dropped her head and started to cry. Luckily, my dad pointed out that I had the pictures on my computer, so I was able to save them and e-mail then to her mom. Crisis averted!

I had given the 2yo plastic food, because that's what he wanted! He wanted pats of butter to fry like Mommy, so I found one that had two, and then it also had eggplant, which he wanted. :confused3 I actually gave him two sets of it, so he would have a variety. (Plus it was BOGO 50% off. :thumbsup2 ) He seemed to love it. And the 1yo got books. He seemed to love the Baby Einstein book.

So now they've headed back to Indy. I'm planning to go there for New Year's, going on Sat. and returning Mon. morning. I wanted to make sure the gifts were done in case the weather gets too bad, though.

Oh, and the 6yo has always loved to "play" our piano, and now they all do! :headache: ;)

A fun time was had by all. Hey, there's no sun smiley anymore. I'll have to go with this one. :daisy:

Have you guys noticed the "multi-quote this message" button in the posts? I haven't seen anyone mention it, so I just tried it. It looks like you click on the button in any of the posts you want to quote, and the button turns red. Then click Quote in a message and you get all of the messages quoted, so you don't have to do copy and paste! I did these three as a test.

I'm not sure if you can go among different pages or not. I didn't try that. It'll be a help, though! (And the <snip>s are mine. This was just an example.)

Crissup - I welcomed you 3 times - how nice of me:goodvibes :) I sometimes have a hard time remembering who's visiting for the first time - especially when I'm posting this early in the morning:)

LOL!! That's OK, I found it quite amusing. I figured it just went to show how far out of touch with the DIS I had gotten. There was a time when I was well known on the boards. But now, if I post a dozen messages a year, I'm doing good. :)

Have you guys noticed the "multi-quote this message" button in the posts?

No, I hadn't noticed that. This is a very cool feature. I'm notorious for not replying to posts because I don't feel like moving away from the current page or cutting and pasting stuff. Thanks for the heads up! I see it evidentally orders the quotes in the order you click the multi button also (you post was actually *after* the post I'm replying to next).

Crissup yep buying DVC in the early days have made a big difference for us too. remember when we got park passes too.

No, I actually joined after the free park tickets were given. In the early to mid nineties, I looked at the DVC kiosks, but never really talked to them. I wanted to stay at the classic Disney resorts that were walking distance to the theme parks, etc. Plus, I knew better than to talk to any "Timeshare" people. ;)

It wasn't until I stayed at the BWV in '98 that I decided I wanted to be able to stay there all the time. I don't get into the which DVC resort is better debates, I just feel that for me, the themeing and location of BWV suits me best. I already knew a little about DVC from the DIS (The "Disney Information Station" back then). So, I walked down to the sales center and did the "tour". That was December 3rd, 1998. I pulled into my driveway, after driving across Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, etc, on January 2nd, 1999, and immediately called my DVC guide (Ron Brumbaugh) and told him to write up the paperwork for the BWV.

One of the best decisions I ever made.

Cool! I saw the "multi-quote" button and immediately thought that will be handy for this thread. I just haven't used it yet. I have actually not been neglicting the kids to DIS while they are on break. :rotfl2: I just finished playing a round of Monopoly with the oldest (we didn't finish, just told her she won because her hour or so out of her brace would be up soon & she wanted to take a hot bath today to help with the soreness).

Last night they had me up playing Disney Trivial Pursuit and then I'm still trying to finish DD's patriot's day dress. Only took me pinning & unpinning the skirt to the bodice about 4 times before I FINALLY got it on correctly. It is now pinned and awaiting sewing. Let's hope I get it sewed on correctly. It was looking interesting when I would pin it, flip it and see the top correct and the inside of the skirt showing instead of the nice outside fabric. :rotfl2: The directions confused me until the lightbulb went off  on how they were meaning to connect it. All I have to say is nobody better look closely at this dress and I'm really glad I only have 1 girl to attempt to make this with. Hopefully there won't be too much snikering at her school for it to be 100% perfect...and we haven't even gotten to the hem which I'm sure will be crooked. I'll just blame the back brace for it, yeah...that's the ticket. :rotfl2: Can't possibly be the seamstress. ;)

DD is adjusting to her back brace OK...besides calling it the torture chamber and wretched beast, they are starting to get along. She did sleep in it last night although NOT tightened up. She managed to do it all night but woke up this morning with a terrible headache & feeling sick. I don't know if it was the stress or the fact that her entire guts are basically being squished together. She seems fine now -- grumpy as ever but nothing unexpected. She is completely convinced though that her entire ribs are bruised even though I see nothing. I think it's just the phantom bruising she sees. She keeps trying to SHOW me the bruising and I see nothing. All I see is some red marks which they told us would happen but it's not bad.

At least we have a few more days of being bums before having to go anywhere. We didn't even get out of our PJ's yesterday (at least today I got dressed & am even thinking of making dinner!).

Anyone know with the big push of High School Musical -- think they have a Monopoly game of it yet? I saw they had a Scene It game, Mystery Date game and one other thing too in that version. I know some of you have Scene It here, what exactly is it? I thought it sounded like the Disney version might be fun but I don't know what exactly it is and they were $40, which I thought was a bit expensive for a game. Do I need anything special besides a DVD player?

Becky2005 Your daughter and my son would get along just fine. He could tell you where each and every scar came from. We have played Scene it before I just remember needing a DVD player. It is actually pretty fun we play in teams. That way the pressure is off and you don't have to be smart :rotfl:

Hersey I remember playing Disney Scene It with a lot of smart alicks! ;) ;) :thumbsup2

geffric I hope your deals come through for you this week! :thumbsup2
Being dead meat is no fun! ;)

Crissup I remember you from wayyyyy back! :thumbsup2
And you can never be too "welcomed" on this thread!! :rotfl:

jedi I'm glad to hear that you were able to spend lots of time with DH! I'm really pulling for the both of you to work things out!! ::yes::

Leigh Your friends little kids sound so cute!!! :goodvibes
I hope you enjoy New Years with them!! :)

Becky How long will your DD be wearing her brace?
Maybe she is feeling sore internally. I can't imagine it is very comfortable.
Much PD for her!! pixiedust:

Debbie My kids aren't very good eaters either. Good sleepers though!! :thumbsup2 I have to get them to eat more veggies. :rolleyes1

okay DVC story time...

It was 1993 - Geoff was 2 and Eric was 4 months. We stayed offsite at the Days Inn Suites on 192 in old town, it had a full kitchen. It was cheap. They both were in diapers. i was nursing. We had a double stroller. Get the picture? They both napped mid day etc. Typical kids that age.
My SIL had mentioned to us that they had looked at DVC and that it might be something for us to consider. Day 1 was MK- commando style. I spent a lot of time at the baby center( nursing and diaper changing) Geoff loved small world and we rode it 10 times. We waited in line for Dumbo 45 minutes. We closed MK. DH felt we had gotten our monies worth. Day 2 - MK at a slower pace..until it got hot and then we went to DTD to walk around, and play in the fountain/sprinkler thingys.. we saw the DVC folks and remember what the ILs said. Talked to them, they sent a car for us and we went to OKW. We looked at the resort, the rooms, and bought at $53 per point plus park passes until 2000. Best decision we ever made.

 Everyone! Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!!!:santa:

Stephanie and I played with her new Magic Kingdom board game, and it was fun. Each player gets 5 destinations and you have to visit all 5 of you destinations first to win - it's fun!!!!:)
I got this game from my DBro & DSIL and I was going to return it. Maybe I'll give it a try instead.;) Thanks for the rating Sandy!:thumbsup2
