the librarian took a library trip today. that's kewl.

jedi, i have been genealogy research for over 38 years now.
yes, zb library is a member with the lds.

our group goes to salt lake city each year for hours and hours of research time. newberry is also great.

i belong to a lot of gen. groups all over the world. it is very time consuming. i do work on our family line and for others by word of mouth. it's like a full time job.

hope the homies enjoyed wicked today.

they need to give us aheads up on it. one of my son's saw if and liked it a lot.

I went on a bus tour today that the library sponsored. It was a tour of Montrose, Rosehill and Graceland cememteries. Anyone interested in Chicago history, I HIGHLY recommend going on one of these. Our tour guide, Al Walavich does tours through the Chicago History Museum (aka Chicago Historical Society). We also went to a great Mediterranean restaurant called Andie's in Andersonville (duh, it just hit me why it's called Andie's :rotfl2: )

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well!

And Mac - I agree that genealogy can be extremely addictive. Have you checked to see if the Zion-Benton library subscribes to any databases like Ancestry or Hertiage Quest? If they do, most likely you can access them remotely from home.

Does my green light go on only when I am on the disboards or even when I am just generally on line?

your green light goes on when you sign on.
even if you are away from the computer, it will be green.

that's how i thought rosemarie was on line at late night.
found out it was her husband playing fantasy football.

i wondered how she could be up late at night !!

Macraven....do you have a new tag?????

i had this tag 2 years ago and in february it was taken away from me. :sad2:

i posted on a tag fairy thread yesterday afternoon that i lost 4 tags by associating with those type of threads and i was only bothered by losing my KEWL tag and universal one.

by tag fairy magic around 6 yesterday evening, it was put back.

i am a lucky ducky....and it is in pink this time.

i spend a lot of time in the universal forums and that is where i got it and lost it before.

went to the cb board and it was returned to me after 8 months.

moral to the story, stay away from tag fairy threads........
you are the second person to notice my new tag returned !

Back from Wicked.

So surreal.

I walked around the food court, couldnt find anyone that was looking for a strange family of 3, so we decided to eat on the 7th floor of Macy's - a food court, and much quieter, and larger.

Went to Wicked, found our seats, asked 3 different people if they were Disboard people, they looked at me like I lost my mind!! :rotfl:

DD thought it was wrong that I didnt post my cell phone for my disfriends to find me!! :goodvibes

Wicked, was all that. I have the CD - but the last song, about being better for knowing you... I cried. It was so sweet, so reminiscent of 2 of my friends, both gone too soon. So as I replayed the friendship of the Witch and Glenda, I thought of my friend from jr/ & high school who had Cystic Fibrosis, she was 4'8" to my 5'9" - and I so got in trouble for teasing her - her mom came into the school, so mad, "HOW dare you chastize my dd only friend, and her BEST friend"... I've never forgotten that moment, but it replayed during the last song... and I dont think its on the CD...

Well, eventually a few Dis'er showed up in front of me, but the people next to me werent real patient, and it wasnt conducive to conversations leaning over. So I fear no one knows me much better for meeting me in person.

Just found the lyrics that moved me - from "For Good" which is on the CD, but just not as powerful as seeing it Live - thanks PrincessMindy for letting me in !!

I'VE HEARD IT SAID
THAT PEOPLE COME INTO OUR LIVES FOR A REASON
BRINGING SOMETHING WE MUST LEARN
AND WE ARE LED
TO THOSE WHO HELP US MOST TO GROW
IF WE LET THEM
AND WE HELP THEM IN RETURN
WELL, I DON'T KNOW IF I BELIEVE THAT'S TRUE
BUT I KNOW I'M WHO I AM TODAY
BECAUSE I KNEW YOU...

LIKE A COMET PULLED FROM ORBIT
AS IT PASSES A SUN

LIKE A STREAM THAT MEETS A BOULDER
HALFWAY THROUGH THE WOOD
WHO CAN SAY IF I'VE BEEN CHANGED FOR THE BETTER?
BUT BECAUSE I KNEW YOU
I HAVE BEEN CHANGED FOR GOOD …

IT WELL MAY BE
THAT WE WILL NEVER MEET AGAIN
IN THIS LIFETIME
SO LET ME SAY BEFORE WE PART
SO MUCH OF ME
IS MADE OF WHAT I LEARNED FROM YOU
YOU'LL BE WITH ME
LIKE A HANDPRINT ON MY HEART
AND NOW WHATEVER WAY OUR STORIES END
I KNOW YOU HAVE RE-WRITTEN MINE
BY BEING MY FRIEND...

green light out debbie.

Boy.... yesterday was long, but still a good day :)

My training class is getting me so pumped up!!! I wish I could get started a lot faster than I can. But with the girls being so young, that would be hard to do since I have to be away from home alot. I'll just take this time and learn, learn, learn and when I have more opportunity to leave home to show houses, I'm going to totally know what I'm doing!!!! :thumbsup2

The Mickey Magic Show was really good and the girls really loved it :thumbsup2 !!! I have never been to a magic show, so to see this was pretty exciting!!! Now I want to go see David Copperfield :teeth:

I hope all of you that saw Wicked had a good time.
You'll have to tell me all about it :)

HERSEY - I'm sorry you have a cold :guilty: I sure hope you feel better soon :wizard: My cold is also hanging on for dear life and I keep coughing all the time - I'm sure I have an upper respirtory infection. I'm going to make an appointment to see my doctor on Wednesday.

Becky - I'm glad you are feeling better :) I'm sorry about your son feeling ickey - I'll send alot of PD his way!!! :wizard: Keep us posted on how he is feeling.
**That's great that you got an appt with the Shriners so soon. Please keep us posted on how everything goes when you go.

Debbie - Your pumpkins are phenomenal (sp?) :woohoo: Your pictures make me want to go carve some pumpkins, and I hate carving pumpkins - I just like looking at everyone else's :teeth:

Rosemarie - I sure hope your headache is feeling better :wizard: I get those sometimes and they make me so sick. Then the next day I have a different headache - it's like a hangover from the previous headache - it's weird.

macraven - What is geneology?
**Congrats on getting your tag back!!! :cheer2:

Jedi - I would love that tour :) !!!! I am a real history buff, and I like looking at old cemetaries. That's great that the library sponsored that for all of you.

eeyore - I'm sorry you weren't able to visit much with everyone else. I hope you aren't frustrated. When we have a DIS meet somewhere like a pizza place, you'll be able to visit alot more ::yes::

Well I'm off to make some breakfast, and then I have to get ready for 11am church. I hope you all have a good day today!!!

Hi all, happy Sunday-
My migraine left me yesterday early afternoon. I feel alot better :thumbsup2
Was able to go to church yest evening. Got you all covered :goodvibes

So glad Saddam is sentenced to death by hanging! :woohoo:

Thanks, Slo, for your well wishes for my migraine :thumbsup2
Glad you and your family had a good time at hte Mickey's magic show :woohoo:

Eeyore45- Sounded like you had a wonderful time at Wicked! :thumbsup2
Sorry it didn't work out with finding other Disers :guilty: It's hard to find others when there's a big crowd of people. The words of that song are wonderful!

Macraven and Jedi- that's great you are both into geneology. I never done stuff like that. But I know I'm not interested in my side of hte family, as most of aunts, uncles, cousins live in hte Chicago area, but we don't see each other much at all :guilty: . Way too much disfunction on my mom's side of the family, unfortunately :sad2: None of my cousins on my mom's side seems to want to get together. and I already know who is married to who, as of my mom's aunts and uncles, etc. Maybe someday I'll look into it with my dad's side of the family.

Becky- glad to hear you were able to get the appt at Shriners for your dd in Dec. :thumbsup2
Do you know what they are planning to do with the land that was Santa's Village? Just curious what West Dundee is planning on doing with it.

Ok, gotta go, as we have a kiddie birthday party to go to today.
Have a good day :sunny:

Good morning everyone.

Slo glad you and your daughters like the magic show.

Eeyore so sorry you didn't get to talk much. Glad you had a good time at the play though.

Mac How do you go about searching your family. My paternal grandparent were not born here. Maternal grandma wa,s but her birth the midwife never recorded her birth. It would be interesting for Alex to know where he came from.

Hello to everyone, well cold or no cold I have stuff to do outside today. I better get dressed before it's afternoon. :wave2:

Hi all!! :wave2:

Loved Wicked last night....again!!!!
Thanks to Mindy for organizing and purchasing the tickets for everyone who went!! :cool1: :wave2:

I was suprised at just how much Tony liked it! He thought it was great!! :teeth:
We stopped afterwards at Garrett's popcorn to get some yummy goodness for us and my mom, who was watching the kids!! :thumbsup2

Today we get our new furniture!!! :woohoo:
Tony just went to pick up with a U-Haul truck we rented. Friends & family are coming over later today to unload. And we'll thank them by ordering yummy pizza!! :teeth: :rotfl:

slo Good to hear that you are learning a lot at the trainings!! :thumbsup2
We thought the Magic show was really good too!! :)

Hersey Maybe the fresh air will help your cold! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

rosemarie Glad your headache is gone!! :goodvibes

I should run and finally get in the shower!! :teeth:
We are supposed to go to Sam's Club later. And go look for a new Christmas tree. Anyone in need of a 9ft prelit approx. 3 yrs old. Very big and lovely tree. Just too big for our new house. Last house had 15 foot ceilings!!!

Check ya later dudes!!! :smokin:

Good morning everyone!!!

Sounds like WICKED was great. I would love to see it. I love productions like that. Did you guys see Donny Osmond is playing Gaston in Beaty & The Beast on Broadway! I would love to see him in that!!!! I saw him more then once in Joseph and thought he was incredible. My last show was Lion King and now that my DD will be 4 I would love for her to see that one too.

Hope all the colds and migranes are gone for good for a lot of you! It really stinks to be sick.
Go Bears! :cheer2:

Macraven...it must look like I am ALWAYS here then (green light) because I stay logged on almost all day! I swear I leave the computer! :surfweb: :rolleyes1

Slo....you are like wonder women! You get so much done, you do so much and you still address all of us personally on here! You're my hero.

I really wanted to see that Magic Show but we were in WDW when it was by me. :guilty: I wonder what the next Disney on Ice will be to make it's way here.

Becky....HSM all the way baby!!! We must get tickets!!!!!!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc
:hourglass No info on my end yet. :guilty:

Have a great rest of the weekend everyone! It looks like it's kind of nice out at least! :sunny:

I have no idea...I just know it made me more sad than I expected when I read that. I didn't realize just how much of it being a part of growing up, we didn't go that often but it was our alternative to Great America. I haven't really heard too much -- I don't think anything has really been decided. I've read it's possible they could open a different theme park (I highly doubt it though) or just put in residential stuff.

:thumbsup2 I'm also on the look-out :surfweb: :magnify: I did talk to one of DD's friend and she's available plus her mom, so at least I'll have another adult. I haven't been able to reach the other 2 girls we want to invite so I'm just going to try to get the 6 tickets I need & hope for the best.

We would like floor tickets but not too close if that makes sense. DD has sat up close for some school productions at things and she always tells me she wnats a bit farther from the stage (I'm thinking last row of section 1 or sections 2-3 on the floor would be nice but I guess we will take what we can get. :teeth: ). I saw Ticketmaster had a blurb about High School Musical taking a field trip so bummer, it's probably common knowledge now. :rotfl:

Although a funny, she asked if she would be allowed to sing along. :rotfl2: You should have seen her face light up when I said yes. She's never been to a concert & she knows you need to be quiet at performances in general.

This is as bad as getting a first morning seating at Cinderella's table. :lmao: Except you only get one day to work with for this one.

Our Meijer's just remodeled so they are having a scavenger hunt & celebration today, so I've got a $10 off coupon to go spend plus could win a $1,000 shopping spree -- It wouldn't take me long to spend $1,000 in Meijers.
I'm just waiting for the little guy to take his nap & then I'm off.

DS-6 is feeling MUCH better today, so looks like school for him tomorrow.

Happy Sunday all!!!

I just got home from shopping, I love Targets $1 spot. Today I went in and bought Mickey Head post-its, 3 sets of Mickey and Minnie fork and spoon sets. Mickey and Minnie Juice glasses and bowls. They had stickers, gel pens notebooks and more but I couldn't spend anymore there. Everything was a $1 each so it was a great deal they are nice.

I am sitting here right now watching the Bear game. It's driving me nuts.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend and I will check back again soon.

GO BEARS!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Does the LDS site, familysearch still have that free software where you can enter information in? That was useful (except when my harddrive got wiped out :sad2: )

I love looking up the census records on the library databases! Fortunately, the US census records include Puerto Rico, so I'm able to see my family on there. But darn that 72 year rule. :goodvibes

My problem with my dad's side they came from what was Serbia and Romania. I would be very interested in searching for my family. Maybe Alex"s Dad family would be interesting also.

you can tell it is sunday night as that is when i post you know what for you.
