Chevy Astro van vs. Suburban

We are resigned to driving to Disney in late June from NJ (we did this last year). We have a Suburban, but are considering renting an Astro van to avoid the wear and tear on our car. Anyone have any clues on which car has more passenger or cargo room?

We went with 3 adults and 3 kids last year and were fairly cramped. This year we have a baby (will be 9 months old at time of trip). On the plus side, we'll most likely use a carrier on top of the car this time.

I'm really leaning towards using our own car and saving the $650. I figure I could apply that money to some new tires, brakes, etc. later.

Thanks for any help!

If it's only $650 I'd rent. There really is no easy way to calculate how much wear and tear you'd be putting on your car, but from Morris County I'd say it's about 1,300 miles each way so 2,600 total. Using the IRS $0.34 per mile (if it isn't more -I've lost track) is almost $900 wear and tear value on your car. I recently got flights and rental car for the 12 days total for less than $1,100. So we decided to fly this time instead of drive.

The Suburban should have more storage area and IMHO would be more comfortable to drive that long trip in.
