What is that??? Does it cost???

Also, I was looking at the room service menu...

someone mentioned there is an item that is not free off that, does anyone remember what item?

I think it's called the All Hands on Deck Platter, but could be wrong. We ordered one every day that we were at sea for an afternoon snack. We also ordered cookies & milk every night. The kids loved coming back to the room to see the towel animal and have their cookies in milk. I loved their oatmeal cookies. While room service is free, please consider tipping the wonderful people. They are hopelessly overworked at times by the teenagers who really indulge the free food brought to their room. When they get a tip they often seem surprised and VERY grateful. We brought $2 bills and dollar coins to have on hand for easy tipping.

Happy sailing!

They seemed surprised to receive a tip for room service delivery? How terrible-- I thought that would be an expected tip!

Am I understanding correctly, that this is part of room service? I was thinking that was something that we ordered to have ready in our room. Maybe there are two different things. I am so confused!

Don't you pay for drinks if you order from room service--other than coffee???

:sunny:

When I sailed the Cadillac lounge had cheese and grapes most nights prior to dinner. It is cheese/crackers and grapes. I think it is more of a European dish - as we sat with people from London on one cruise and the wife ordered it for dessert at dinner as well.

All Hands On Deck Platter is indeed from room service and it is free...as well as all other food from room service. the platter contains assorted cheese, grapes, crackers....

You will have to pay for soda and booze from room service, but not ice tea or juices. Lemonade is a tricky one because some report they were charged.....and we have ordered it several times and were not charged.

It is customary to tip for room service and none of our servers were ever surprised to be tipped...they were appreciative, but not surprised.

Thanks,
I am aware of tipping. I believe in doing it, don't worry.. ;)

I'm sorry to have confused some of you. The cheese and grapes was in one of the lounge on the Nav's someone had scanned...

my question was two-fold as I was curious about the room service thing too...

I had thought someone mentioned one or two food items on the menu that was 'extra', but I can't recall what. But other than the international all hands on deck, or a pizza...

I don't see my-self ordering much from room service. But then again, this is my first time w/ a balcony (mom and dad did a 2 or 3 night on Carnival Mircale back in April, first time w/ balcony for them)

All food items on the room service menu are free. Soft drinks and alcoholic beverages are charged.

There are no items on the menu that there is a charge for...and you can frequently get things not on the menu also for "free". Mickey bars are a favorite in this category.

O.K. Here's the deal. Return to room. Order fruit and cheese platter and a few pizzas from room service. Pop the cork on your wine. Pour a glass. Get room service, tip server. Go to verandah or deck four. Indulge. Now you're cruisin'.

There is also fruit and wine in Sessions, but not half as much fun as your own verandah or deck 4 and that room service.

We loved ordering from room service. We got so spoiled! The oatmeal raisin cookies were scrumptious! We also enjoyed the fruit bowl.:D

Just back from the 8/28 cruise. Order room service twice -- once for dinner and once for lunch. Their standard menu is now in the book left on the desk (page 69). The breakfast menu is still a hang tag you fill out and put out the night before.

EVERYTHING on the room service menus is free. The only expense is for soda and drinks. Or if you order something special that is not listed on the menu. I noticed that since our last cruise they have added a few items to their room service menu.

We order the pizza, chicken nuggets and cheese/cracker platter for lunch. Loved it all. Gave a $2 tip. For dinner we ordered cheeseburger and fries, chicken noodle soup and turkey sandwich (daughter wasn't feeling well), cake and cookies and gave a $3 tip. It was night 9 of our "extended" cruise and we were sick of the dining room menus. So we opted to order in and watch a movie on the tv. It was great fun. We are definitely doing that again next year.

Hi,

I love, love, love to order coffee from room service when I go on cruises, just as I am waking up each morning. It is such a treat to have hot coffee delivered to me in bed and it is something that I look forward to on my 2 or 3 cruises each year! If you are a coffee and/or tea person first thing in the morning, it is divine to have a smiling face wishing you a "good morning" and handing you all the coffee or tea you can drink!

Best Regards,
Julia

We usually also order tea and coffee each morning and cereal for DS. That way he has something to eat while we are getting up and dressed for breakfast.

Thanks for all the info everyone! Does anyone know when (on embarkation day) we can order room service? That may be something nice to order for an early evening kind of snack that we can take up on deck and enjoy with a bottle of wine. We have a late dinner seating, so that may be nice to do! It is getting so close, I just can't stand it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11:earseek:

I thought a remembered an event called "Grapes & Cheese", but when I looked in the Navigator all I found was "Wine & Cheese".

Saturday Eastern Magic
7:30pm - 8:30pm Wine & Cheese: Perfect together, even better when accompanied by the elegant piano music of Daryl Lockhart. Sessions, Deck 3, Forward.
