First--does the price include the wine tasting? You can now book it online, and it is only $114.41, which is remarkable, so I think that must be for the dinner only. It doesn't have an option to let me indicate I want the wine pairings also.
Has anyone done this? Do you recall how much it cost?
I would love pictures and descriptions of your experince.
Any trip reports with it?:yay:

Has anyone been to the Chef's Tasting Wine Dinner at Flying Fish?
It is on the Dining Events link on WDW site. You can make reservations online, same place you make them for Fantasmic and Hoop-Dee-Doo, etc,
Is it new? Has anyone experienced it? Any reports?

The dinner includes the wine, and the price includes the wine.

It's included, if I remember correctly.
DH & I are going in may

We paid in full over the phone at the time...Don't remember the price.

We are planning to try it for our anniversary in Oct. Here are a couple reviews I found:

I've not been to the Chef's Counter specifically, but it's effectively an on-demand version of the double-super-secret wine dinners the Flying Fish has six to eight times a year. I've been to six of those; all have been excellent, while two were among the best meals I've ever had. Chef Tim Keating really shines in these limited-run menus. He finds interesting, quality ingredients and makes the most of them. Manager Keith Gimbel selects exceptional wine pairings.

The wine dinners have wines from a single vintner. I'd be curious to know if the Chef's Counter does the same.

The price is correct, but they add tax and tip. Comes to about $142 per person. Wine is included.

The wines are not from a single winery and are pared with each course.

My wife and I would love to do the Chef's table in May, however she does not like seafood at all but I love it... We did the chef's table at Napa Rose and they customized menus for the both of us. Does anyone know if this is possible at Flying Fish? We'd love to be able to experience the chefs table but she would need a menu without seafood...

No, they don't. At least not the one I did.

They cook the meal right there, although the courses are determined before you sit down. If you don't want seafood, ask for something else to be substituted.

Is it possible to do it without the wine pairings and is the cost then recuced?

I'm interested but I'd be dining with a non-drinker.

I am sure they would be pleased to substitute non-alcoholic options like virgin cocktails, but I doubt the price would be reduced.

When they first offered it, there was an option without pairings for $85 + tip/tax or thereabaouts. I haven't had that since Oct 2010 so I don't know if it's still available.

It's a bit messy to get it to work though, as you still book/prepay the full $142.44 price and then get the difference charged back after you get there.

These were the photos I took from this meal last October. I don't know what I did with the menu, so I can't tell you everything I ate, except not everything was fish.

The glass of sorbet with creme de menthe in it was truly horrible. I made the sous chef who was explaining each course try one for himself. He apologized for serving me something that tasted like Crest toothpaste.

Thankyou for the pictures, Lori!

For anyone, including Lori, who has done this: Were you overly stuffed? Or was the amount of food manageable? How was the timing?

TIA!

I wasn't overly stuffed, and it was paced out over a couple hours.

Based on the 2 times (5:45, 8:15) it should take about 2.5 hours, but I think the later seating is a little more relaxed.

Perhaps it was the heat, but in Oct, I went with the no-pairings route and thought it was a lot of food - 6 courses plus an extra amuse-bouche not on the menu.

When we tried it again this past Jan, it was now 5 courses/pairings, maybe for better pacing. I didn't realize it had changed until I looked it up afterwards, but it still felt like a decent amount of food - portion sizes are pretty generous. I don't know if the change was just temporary or if the website just hasn't been updated.

Another note: the pours are also pretty generous, so you may get a pretty decent buzz by the end. (I am admittedly a bit of a lightweight)

We enjoyed the Chefs Tasting a few weeks ago and can't wait to try it again. We did not feel rushed and I wasn't overly full. I was told they change it up often so it should be a new experience each time. Also, no TIW discount for this. Enjoy
