I have read about the chef's table at Wolfgang Puck's in the past. It looks wonderful! I have a few questions.

Has anyone been there recently?

Any reviews or input?

Is the table in a more secluded area, or in the main dining area?

Are they very accomidating to special diets? I only eat seafood and poultry (though I am considering eating beef again - it's been 12 years since I have had beef, but I have been having such a craving for it - and, no, I am NOT pregnant!). DH also only eats poultry, seafood, and some game meats.

How long do you expect the meal to be?

How do people usually dress? (We tend to dress nicer at dinner than, say, a meal at a park)

Any input is appreciated!!!!

Let's see if I can answer some of your questions.

The table is a regular table in the main dining room.

The meal took about 2 hours.

If I remember, the dress code required men to wear a shirt with a collar.

We did what is called the "Chef's Tour" about 1.5 years ago. We did it with the wine pairings. It is on the menu and you don't need to order it ahead of time. Each course was something from the regular menu. I am not sure how flexible the food choices are. There were (I believe) two red meat courses. We enjoyed it very much. They gave us a "menu" of what we ate (we asked for one). The manager then told us about the "Chef's de Cuisine". We booked it for our trip last May.

The "Chef's de Cuisine" is a custom dinner. We called about a week ahead of time and told them what we liked and didn't like. It was fabulous. Most (if not all) of the food was not on the menu. So, I am sure they could accommodate pretty much any request since they have time to order it. And we had it with the wine pairings.

Actually, the only thing we told them when we called is we didn't like sushi. SO, when we got to the restaurant, the first course was what looked like sushi????!!!!! BUT IT WAS COOKED. (reminded me of Terry Bradshaw in the commercial). It was great.

I hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the response, betterlatethannever. The Chef's de Cuisine seems like the way to go for us.

Do you know how far in advance you can book this dinner?

Wolfgang Puck accepts reservations starting 30 days prior If I remember right. So you can book it starting then.

FYI, the cost for the meals was about $100/ person for the Chef's Tour, and about $140 / person for the Chef's de Cuisine. That is with the wine pairings. I don't know what the cost is without the wine.

Another question, betterlatethannever - does everyone in the party receive the same food for each course, or is it individualized for each person?

This may be a stupid question, but if you are going to pay that much for the meal, why not go a little more and do the chef's table at V&A?

Just wondering...

gravymom - I did eat at V & A's on12/05/02, and wrote a review of the meal on these boards (if you do a search of these boards you will find it - probably dated around 12/8-10). While the V&A's meal was wonderful, there were a few glitches that you could read about in my review.

We like to try new things. We loved the food at Wolfgang Puck's Cafe, and would like to try more of the meals that those chefs have to offer. The chef's table seems to be a wonderful opportunity to try a lot of new things. Plus, we love sushi, and this restaurant specializes in sushi - I am sure they could present us with something new and innovative.

The total for 2 would not be a whole lot different from a regular table at V&A's, but we want to have a different experience, and we are not ready to return to V&A's quite so soon. And I really do not want to experience the chefs table at V&A's at this time. Perhaps in the future. We like fine dining, but enjoy our privacy, as well.

Sorry to have been nosy - I just was under the impression that V&A's was the be-all end-all of, as my DH calls it "fussy food" and was just wondering why you would do Wolfgang. Didn't realize that you had probs. with V&A. Thanks for the reply.

No problem, gravymom! We are all here to learn about new things at WDW!

We will certainly return to V&A's in the future, but we need to experience different dining choices first!

:D

does everyone in the party receive the same food for each course, or is it individualized for each person?

Both of us got the same food. We didn't ask if each person could get different courses. Since they are preparing a custom meal anyway, it makes sense they could make two.

BTW, we've also done V&A (many years ago) and found Wolfgang Pucks to be more relaxed and enjoyable (not to mention not needing a jacket :) ).
