Sylvester McBean has really peaked my interest on the Chef's Table at Emeril's. I can't find any more info on it though. :guilty: I did find some reviews on the Chef's Table at Tchoup Chop, but not Emeril's (we prefer Emeril's). Has anyone else dined at it there? If so, could you provide some details (i.e. making a reservation, how many people are seated at the table, is it teen friendly, price with or w/o wine pairings, etc.). In your opinion, what makes this experience better or worse than dining in the regular restaurant?

Also, I'd love more info on the Tasting Menu that is served in the regular dining room (i.e. price with & w/o wine pairings, number of courses & choices, etc.) Does everyone at the table have to order it? Our DS(14) obviously can't order the wine pairings with his meal. Will that be a problem, if DH & I decide to go that route?

Last question... I remember that when we dined there before we had to tell them in advance that we wanted the chocolate souffle'. I don't know how recently the menu has changed. Do they still serve it? If so, do you still need to tell them in advance. It was great, BTW. :teeth:

Thanks in advance, for any info you can provide. :thanks:

FYI, I'm also posting this on the Community board, in case there's some who dine at Emeril's but don't post on this board. :)

When the hubby and I were at Emeril's in October we did the chef's menu for that evening and it was $65 per person (another $30 pp for the wine pairings). They do request that everyone at the table get the chef's menu but I don't think everyone would be required to add the wine pairings (they can't force you to drink, can they??? :teeth: ).

You might call the restaurant ahead of time and double check on that alcoholic assumption I just made.

As for the souffle, yes - they will ask you to order it at the beginning of your meal so that it can be prepared fresh for your enjoyment. I had the grand marnier souffle and it was divine!

Can't help you with the Chef's table...didn't even think about that when we were there.

I hope you enjoy your dinner whatever you decide - we sure did!

PS. I think there were six courses all total in the chef's menu that night. :goodvibes

I can't believe you like Emeril's better than Tchoup Tchoup! But aside from that I'm anxious to hear the answers to your questions too.

oybolshoi,
Thanks for the info. :) Our DS is always up for a tasting menu. :teeth: Hopefully, they'll be willing to serve him a lovely vintage of Coke in place of the wine pairings. :drinking1

Perhaps, we caught them on a bad night. :confused3 We had 4 in our party, & everyone ordered something different. Noone was particularly impressed with their food. We didn't think their desserts were as good as Emeril's either. Maybe, we'll give it another try sometime. :)

You're very welcome! We're actually headed back next month, so if we try the chef's menu again (and knowing us I'm sure we will) I'll post a review here for anyone who might be interested. We're also going to try Tchoup Tchoup this time around so I'll actually be able to compare the two on one trip.

I'm hungry just thinking about it! :teeth:

We are going to TC this Friday night and I can't wait. I prefer TC to Emeril's but E=MC2 (Emeril's equals Mythos and Confiscos times 2!)

I'll definitely be interested in your review, whether you eat the Chef's menu or not. :teeth: I'm also anxious to hear how you think the 2 restaurants compare. I can never read enough about good food. :cloud9:

You guys have almost talked me into making a reservation at TC & giving it another try. :p We have to eat at Emeril's & Mytho's (DS(14) fav.). That leaves 3 evenings to fill. Although, I suppose Mytho's could be a lunch spot. :p What other restaurants do you all consider "not to be missed"? We've tried a lot of them, but not all. One we haven't tried, but are seriously considering is The Palm. We've stayed away, because it doesn't seem to have the greatest atmosphere. :confused3 What do you think about it? Thanks again :)

Been to the Palm twice and the atmosphere is actually quite nice and the service was top notch and the portions just HUGE...Sadly my steak was not up to Ruths Chris, Shula's, Del Frisco quality...I hope it was a fluke and we'll try it again (one more time) because I can't believe this place can get away with consistently mediocre steak, but three strikes and they'll be out!

Thanks for the info. :) I'm glad the atmosphere isn't as I'd imagined. Walking by & peering in, it seemed more like a Men's Club than a fine dining restaurant.

Speaking of the huge portions, would they look at us like we had 2 heads, if DH & I shared an entree? (Our DS(14) has a bottomless pit, & can easily put away a huge steak. No sharing for him. :sad2: ) I eat very little meat, 5 or 6 small bites are more than enough for me. I prefer bread, appetizers, veggies, & dessert. Yes, I'm a carbohydrate junkie. Of course, we'll be partaking of a few martinis or a bottle of wine as well. :p It is vacation, after all. :teeth: BTW, do you have any idea where I can find their martini menu?

As far as sides go, how many sides should we order for 3 people? Thanks again :)

As long as you're order appitizers and/or sides and drinks, I don't think they'd glance sideways at three dining on two entrees.

Two sides would probably be more than you'll eat...I remember the onion rings seemed stacked to the ceiling!

Don't know about the martini list, but someone will I'm sure.

Lastly, the atmosphere is clubby like Shula's and so many steakhouses but I ate there with my youngest daughter twice and we kind of liked it.

I'm convinced! :teeth: I tried to make a reservation today, but I'm a month early. :hyper: It's now on the list though. ::yes:: Thanks for your help. :)
