Chef's table at V&A????

Can anyone please tell me about their experience and if it is worth it? I read your seated in the kitchen. How is that? Is it still romantic? My sister and her husband are coming with us this year and it will be my brother-in-law's
50th birthday so I was thinking of that or renting the boat for the fireworks. Any comments would be appreciated!!!

I would not describe it as romantic but it's a very special experience.

We've done the Chef's Table once and the dining room maybe 8 times or so...the last was earlier this month. The main dining room is very romantic.

But for a birthday celebration with two couples, I think the Chef's Table would be a great way to celebrate. We've never rented the Grand I but have done the fireworks cruise. It's fun to do once but I'd pick the Chef's Table over that in a heartbeat!

Oh, sorry I misunderstood.

Yes, it was totally worth the money. You are treated very well but that also happens in the main dining room. Service is just perfect.

The chef introduced himself, asked us about allergies or dislikes and offered a toast. As I recall we didn't see him again until the end of the meal when he stopped by to ask about our experience. But the sous chefs also came by to introduce themselves and we were able to watch the work going on at the end of the kitchen near where we were seated. They were happy to answer questions and it was really a special experience.

We were celebrating our anniversary and it was romantic for us for that reason. My DH gave me a gold link bracelet for Christmas a couple weeks before our dinner. He had purchased three Disney gold charms which he somehow gave to our servers. They presented them to me one by one under the domed service dishes. It was fun and the first one took me totally by surprise (Steamboat Willie). But the lighting is bright of course and you can't hear the harpist so it is not a romantic setting like the main dining room.

There are other DISers who have experienced both rooms...I hope they pop in to give you more responses.

Dining at the chef's table was a highlight of our Disney experiences. You are in an alcove adjacent to the kitchen, and you can interact quite a bit with all of te marvelous kitchen staff. We had fun chatting with Chef Hunnel, and getting tastings of everything that left the kitchen that night was just amazing! If I could, I would make it possible for everyone to do it once! (If we hit the lottery, I'll be in touch!)

Is it the same menu as what is in the main dining room? It sounds like quite the experience. Did you ever try the main dining room? If so is there a big difference between the two(the main dining room and the chefs table)??

I dont think there is a menu at the chef table. It's more of a conversation he has with you, then cooks you things he thinks you will enjoy

When dining at the chef's table, we got samples of everything that was served in the main dining room (minus anything we chose not to have because we didn't care to have it). And yes, there is just one reservation per night, so no strangers at the table.

I would not really consider the CT "romantic". However, it is an unbelievable experience. Here is a detailed report, with photos of a CT dinner.

Bascally you get everything that is on the regular dining room menu, including the extra cost items. Figure, however, on sharing as each person does not get everything, but the group willget everything.

And it is one reservation per night for one party (which can be as little as one person). I'm next scheduled for late March with some friends, and it will be about 7 or 8 people.

Samantha Brown on her travel channel show "great hotels" had a show on the Gf and one of the segments was the chefs table at V&A , i recommend watching that . it would give you a good idea on what to expect maybe you can find it on you tube ...

Not only is it one reservation per night, it's not always available every night. And when it does open for booking, it's often booked at 180 days out. Which I think is in the process of changing.

So if they can't get Chef's Table, they should definitely do the main dining room.

We have a reservation for Chef's Table in May and I just don't want to offend or disappoint the chefs with my request.

We ate at the Chef's Table last week. It was an amazing experience! I thought it was romantic and fun. The evening started with a toast with the chef and he asked about our food preferences. In total, we were there for about four hours, we had 13 courses with wine pairings, we were able to interact with the executive chef and the sommelier, and it was spectacular. The food was beyond amazing and the main dining room extras like Kobe beef and caviar were included.

I would highly recommend it and it was definitely worth the price!!

Has anyone ever done the chiefs table solo? In 2007 I did the Chiefs table in the main room but it seemed a bit mean to hog the table just for me.

DH and I ate at the chefs table with 2 other couples August 2006. It was the most amazing dining experience we ever had. As I remember, you will get a call from staff perhaps a week or 2 ahead of time with likes/dislikes/allergies. One of the members of our party gave an EXTENSIVE LIST to staff of her likes and dislikes (she is not terribly advertureous with food) and essentially had a different menu from the rest of us!
