We had the Candelight Processional package and decided on France. This was our first time. I can say it's not my new favorite, but I also really enjoyed it.

I got the onion soup which was really good, but so cheesy I could not finish it all for fear of my cardiologist. The boys got lobster bisque - I had read mixed reviews on it, but tried it and really liked it. The picture of my soup is not exactly flattering

The baguettes they serve are crusty, hot and perfect! Enjoyed dipping them in soup.

I got the roasted chicken

My son got the filet

My nephew chose the braised ribs

I tried all of them, and mine really was the best. The portion of chicken was generous (it's half a chicken) and really moist and flavorful. The boys tried my potatoes and said they tasted like "McDonald's fries" haha - they were good, crispy on the outside and mashed-potatoey on the inside. The broccoli was overcooked. The sauce on the plate was awesome.

The filet was good-not-great. Now, mind you, this follows last night's dinner at Le Cellier, so it had big shoes to fill and fell short in comparison. But on its own it was flavorful, and tender. The potatoes and haricots verts were good-not-great as well.

The braised short ribs, I can say, were one of the worst things I ever tasted. It just had a very odd, almost sour overpowering flavor. My nephew could hardly eat it. Now, I had read the bad reviews on it, but try telling a teenager what to order, ha!

The best part of the meal was dessert. We ordered:

sorbets

chocolate mousse cake

profiteroles (which our server said were her personal favorite)

They were all so excellent - if I had to pick a favorite, believe it or not I'd choose the sorbets. The presentation is lovely, and it's a nice light finish to the meal. The flavors were raspberry, pear and coconut and were so amazing. The profiteroles were also amazing but probably heavy to eat on your own - they are positively swimming in chocolate sauce (which is not a bad thing!) - the mousse cake was rich and dark.

The only complaints about the meal and restaurant:

-The entrees were served too hot, if that makes any sense. Like, burn-your-tongue hot and forget about touching the plates. I found that a bit odd.

-The server told me that Evian water was not included in my dining plan (I'm on the deluxe plan) - now,I have gotten it included EVERYWHERE ELSE I've gone in 4 years of Disney, but she charged me $6.99. That ticked me off a little.

All in all, I would go back, and most likely try the salmon (I saw it and it looked awesome) - my son also said he wants to go back. The atmosphere is awesome, I could almost feel I was in France (but then I noticed people wearing Mickey ears :earsboy: haha - and who doesn't love a French accent?

Give it a try - just stay away from the short ribs!

great photos ..
I love the sorbet too when I eat a big meal at the restaurants...

I would of probably gotten the filet too....but will probably compare it to Le cellier too..

Thanks for your review

Thanks for your review and pics. We're eating there for the first time in a few weeks. I'm ordering the filet and that sorbet looks yummy with the fruit.

Thanks for the review and the pictures, we're eating there on Saturday at DH's request. The chicken looks good and that's probably what I will order. Did you order ala cart or did you do the three-course option?

We are on the DXDP so ordered a la carte

Thanks for your honest review! My mom and I have a reservation to eat there on our first night in January. I have never eaten there, but I love French food, so thanks for your suggestions!

I ate at Chefs 2 times in 3 weeks. Had the same meal. Onion soup, braised ribs and creme brulee. The 1st time DH was with me and he helped me eat. The ribs were not as good the 2nd time. They did have a strange aftertaste. Everything else was great. Our server was very nice BUT....When DS asked for no sauce on his steak (which was great except he wished there was more of it) The server told him how good it was and he should have it on the steak. He was kind of offended that he would ask for it without. He finally said he would serve it on the side so he could try it. He was also overly concerned because I didn't finish my soup. Then when I only ate 1 rib he tried to get me to dip bread in the sauce and eat more. I tried to tell him I get this every time I come. He took the plate away saying the chef was gonna be mad. Really! I don't know anyone who could finish this much food and still have room for the best creme brulee EVER. He made us all uncomfortable even tho he was just trying to be nice!
