We are going to WDW for free dining in September and have already made all of my ADRs. However, I'm thinking about changing one of them and could use some information.

Has anyone been to Chefs de France with children? Mine will be 8.5 and 4 at the time and I'm concerned about the limited children's menu that I see on the boards.

Are children offered an appetizer from the adult menu, since there don't appear to be any on the kids? My older son loves lobster bisque and had it at Coral Reef on our last trip. I see that it's on the adult menu? Coral Reef and Le Cellier allow kids to order appies off the adult menu. What about CdF?

We passed by the restaurant in April and noticed many families eating but I'm not sure it's going to offer us the best choice.

Our current ADRs are for Concourse, Boma, MM for Fantasmics, Le Cellier, Coral Reef, San Angel and 9 Dragons. I'm thinking of changing out 9 Dragons since we live in NJ and have access to terrific chinese food and I really don't care for the idea of spending $19 for something I can get better for $9.95 at home (not that this isn't the case with most restaurants when you live in a big city).

Anyone have any other ideas for a good meal? We're not that interested in character meals this time around.

Thanks.

Please, isn't there anyone who can answer this? Is there no one who has taken younger kids to CdF?

I could really use some advice here.

Thanks.

We ate at Chefs last Thanksgiving week with my nieces, who were 8 and 11. The 11 year-old is very picky, and she seemed fine -- she had the Gratin de macaroni as they called it (mac & cheese to you and I). The 8 year-old is only slightly removed from wolves in her taste for meat, but she had the onion soup and loved it.

We weren't on the dining plan, so I'm not certain about this, but we were at Chefs as part of the Holiday Processional package where I pre-payed for dinner. Even though the 8 year old was a "child", her soup was off the adult menu, and they were fine with that. My personal experience is that your server can make it work -- she did for us. But, that's not to say it won't be more inflexible under the dining plan.

So, short answer: I think kids would be fine with Chefs de France, and you may be able to find what they'll eat between both menus. The restaurant itself is nice -- visually interesting, pretty lively, and it actually reminded me of a place we'd eaten in Rheims!

My kids were 4 & 7 last time we ate at Chef's. DS had a Hamburger, which he also had when he ate there at 4 & sill proclaims it the best hamburger ever ;) DD had the Chicken with pasta & liked it. I also think they had ice cream.

We have always gotten great service at Chefs & notice there always seems to be alot of families there.

We have ate at Chef deFrance multiple times with both children under 6 with no problems. one selects Gratin de macaroni and the other something else I do not recall. Overall, I do not worry about our kids eating on vacation since there is always something they can eat. Plus, in my perspective they are also on vacation and the dessert selection will end any lingering hunger they could ever have after the main course. princess: princess:

We ate at Chefs de France on Sunday night with my 3.5 yr old. She had chicken fingers and pasta. We had the french onion soup (to die for) escargot, also very good and I had the duck and DH had the filet. We were very impressed with our meals. The soup is a good size so if they don't offer the soup at a lower rate for the kids, you can always share. This was one of my favorite dining experiences this trip. Enjoy!

We were there on the DDP in early May. My DD7 loved the meal at Chefs de France. She had the chicken fingers and pasta with the ice cream dessert. I had the cheese platter for my appetizer which was more than enough for the two of us to share (and we are HUGE cheese fans).

So go, enjoy and have a nice meal. I must say that it was about as nice as a kids chicken strip and pasta meal could get. And she loved the server, too!

I can't speak for Chefs but yeah, swap out 9 Dragons. We had better Chinese food when we lived in Massachusetts. :)

chefs de france was my DS6 favorite mael when we went last October. He had the chicken and pasta and ate every bite.

I think DS was about 8 on his first visit here. He ordered the cheeseburger and told us it was the best cheeseburger he had EVER eaten.

Yes been to Chefs de France with kids 6 and 9 at the time. They enjoyed it a lot. Great atmosphere and very good food. Can't answer about the dining plan, we were not on the plan.
