I have this restaurant booked for my son's third birthday party celebration. I am a bit nervous though as this is his very first experience ever at Disney and I know it will already be overwhelming for him. Do you suggest that I do this somewhere different? I want him to be able to enjoy himself since it will be his birthday. He is a very laid back child, doesnt scare to easy. But from what I hear and read this place can get really loud. Just want his birthday to be a great experience for him and everyone else. Thanks!

I think you'll be fine. It can be loud during the song and wave your napkin portion which is about once an hour. Other than that it is normal restaurant noise. No horns or sirens which can be found in pizza joints for birthdays.

Good luck and have a great trip!

Thank you.....this will sound weird but is there some sort of warning before the song or does it all of a sudden happen....if he is caught off guard he doesnt like things. This way I can prepare myself and him. Also do you know if I can contact the restaurant and have them do a cake for him? I may need to post that question somewhere else. Thanks again!

I think you'll be fine. My older daughter - who is not laid back and quite prone to freak outs - was 4 the first time she had dinner at Chef Mickey's and she loved it. My younger one, who'd recently turned 2 at the time was a bit freaked out by Donald, but all was good once Mickey arrived. We returned to Chef Mickey's for my older one's 5th birthday breakfast and both girls were perfectly fine with all of it. In fact, the only issue I remember the girls having at the bday meal in August was a few minutes of cake envy. They saw the other birthday kids getting bday cupcakes and didn't know I'd ordered a custom cake from the Contemporary bakery. They were over it as soon as they saw our cake :lmao: All in all, there were 4 or 5 other bday kids around us and the staff did a really good job keeping everyone happy for their respective bday meals.

I had breakfast at Chef Mickeys with my niece (then 3 1/2) and nephew (infant) and they did well with the characters. I usually hate character meals, but wasn't overwhelmed at all. The characters were spaced out enough and didn't stay too long at the table. I would definently call ahead about a celebration cake. I have heard good reviews when people do this.

Ive been questioning the same thing and my son't birthday is the 23rd. He's going to be 6 so he's gotten a bit better but he's still shy and to much stuff overwhelms him. I had to make the ADR at Chef Mickeys though because ever since he saw the place on a You Tube video it's all he talks about.

I don't know if you are making other ADRs but I also made one on another day at Garden Grill at Epcot. I hear this one is a lot quieter and mroe subdued. So I made ADRs for both.
