Hi, I am writing this because of an issue brought up to me on one of my previous posts.....

Is going to a character breakfast worth it for two adults with no kids? I am not really the type to get tons of pictures with the characters. The reason we wanted to go is because we simply like breakfast buffets (I especially want those Mickey waffles!) and because it seemed like a "traditional Disney experience" type of thing to do....

Can anyone advise me on this? We are two twentysomethings who are big kids at heart but I don't know if I would feel dumb with all these characters coming up to me.... especially with so many kids there who really want to see them!

My DH and I went to character breakfast a few years ago and had a great time!

The characters don't seem to mind that you don't have kids with you. They make you feel comfortable no matter.

Have a great time!

I've gone solo before and totally enjoyed myself. The characters will come by and won't stay long. The food and ambience is great! The funny thing was last time I went there were all these computer techie guys there staying for a conference and they were a bit out-of-synch eating at Chef Mickey's what with the characters and waving of the napkins and all. It was a hoot. Go - it definitely is one of the experiences! Ely

My DH and I went to the Crystal Palace and the Winnie the Pooh characters wouldn't leave us alone..it was great.

I'm going to Chef Mickey's by myself in September! I heard that it's great to do them by yourself, so I imagine a couple will have a great time.

I'm taking my son and D-I-L in September (7 month old baby staying home with other grandmother). They specifically asked for some character meals so we're doing CRT (breakfast), CP (dinner), and CM (dinner). I was there solo this past May and had breakfast at the CP for my last day. It was great.

My adult DD and I will be there without any kids in September. She specifically asked if we could go to CM. She remembers it from when she was a kid. The first time we went there was a couple in their 70's there. They were really enjoying themselves. I can't imagine a WDW trip without CM, it's just classic Disney! I love watching all the little ones with the characters. So go--you will have a great time.

DM and I are going to the character breakfast at Ohana's (I'm 21 :sunny: )! We both love the atmosphere of the restaurant and the food! :Pinkbounc

DH and I always try to do 1 character breakfast or lunch. We love the breakfast at Ohana's. Chip and Dale hung out with us forever, and Goofy kept pretending he and I were running off together and leaving DH behind...

Heck yeah, it's great fun just seeing all the characters running around, the happy kids, etc. And you're right about the food, it's hard to beat a nice breakfast buffet at the Contemporary... gas up with food then hop on the monorail!

Myself and my husband went to Chef Mickeys by ourselves in June and we had great fun! We didnt feel silly when the characters came to our table, they didnt stay long, just a quick photo and we were very happy with that! It was great fun and we were there napkin twirling with the rest of them!!!
We are certainly booking again for next year....cant wait! go for it and have fun, ps the food there is great! Bring on the Mickey waffles!!!!!

Until I got to the "twenty-something" part I thought maybe you were my DH :) He wants to go for the Mickey waffles.

My husband and I go to character breakfasts all the time. Our personal favorite is the one at AK. If you want a buffet breakfast but don't care about the character interaction, try the buffet at Fort Wilderness. It is a lot less expensive because it doesn't have characters, yet it is a peaceful place to start the day.

Already have PS made for Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace, Hubby and I went last year alone without our kids and had a ball. It was great. Twirling napkins with the rest of the group was really fun. Can't wait. 47 more days!

If you aren't interested in characters, if I were you I'd look for a different breakfast buffet to attend. I LOVE breakfast buffets, everything about them. Unfortunately Chef Mickey's had absolutely the worst quality food of any buffet I've ever been to....anywhere. EVERYTHING that was supposed to be hot was lukewarm or room temperature. This buffet could be compared to high school cafeteria type food. I think the allure of Mickey & Friends covers for the food quality at this joint.

On the other hand, we really liked the buffet at the 1900 Park Fare character breakfast. The foods were all hot, the fruits were all cold....They even have made-to-order omelette's.

GO FOR IT! Quite honestly, what I have noticed is that they keep all the good food at the character buffets! :earboy2: Liberty Tree Tavern, Chef Mickey's, the French Toast at CRT, Crystal Palace....excellent meals. Don't feel weird about going without kids...I've done it and had a blast! The characters are still very nice and it's a great meal in a fun atmosphere. Great people watching opportunity too! ;)

Our group of 3 adults went to Chef Mickeys for dinner one night last year for the first time. We had never thought to do a character meal since there are no kids in the party. I took the advice of some online friends who said to try it. Well, we had a blast, so this year,, we are doing 2 character meals, Chef Mickeys and Crystal Palace both for dinner. We don't eat enough beakfast to make breakfast worth it, but enjoy the dinner. The characters would stop by tkae a picture and then move on for the most part except for Chip who wanted some of my gummy bears that I had picked up off the desert buffet. He was very playful like that.

I've done characther meals before and I love them! We're going to Chef Mickey's on our trip in 2 weeks, and we don't have any kids in our group (17, 18, 20, 21, 49, and 57), but I know we'll have a blast since we just love character meals. You should definitely go, and don't feel silly!

I am a twenty-something and there were 2 of us that went to Chef Mickey's for breakfast and we had a blast! If you are trying to eat or would only like to spend a few minutes with the characters, we found that they just moved right along. They understand that you are there to eat too and not just to visit the characters. I hope you decide to go. Its a great time!

we have 5 or 6 character meals planned for our honeymoon. It seems that the characters are pretty good at judging how much interaction you want. I love the attention so it's great but I have seen other adults who get the picture/autograph and then move on.
