Chef Mickey's without a PS?

We're looking to hit Chef Mickey's for supper on Tuesday, April 26. The first available PS they have is after 8:00PM. That's no good for our 2 year old daughter. I know this Scharacter meal is very popular and the chances of getting a table without a PS aren't good.

Think we'll have better chances of getting a table without a PS if we're there when they open - 5:00?

It's a long shot, I'm afraid. We've been there for an early dinner before, and it was very busy--lots of families with younger children. You probably would get in eventually, but who knows how long it would take.

Have you considered Liberty Tree Tavern? They have a very similar character list, and the food is actually better. It's in MK, and would require a park pass to get in, though.

My opinion would be "no" also. We have always been there on time for our PS and still had to wait in an awfully long line for 20-30 minutes. And we always go at 5:00-5:30. It seems like they are always backed up here.

We tried to get a PS at Chef Mickey's for the 26th too and I think at the time 7:15 was the latest we could get and since our flight is that night it was too late. So we booked Liberty Tree Tavern for 4:20 and got Chef Mickey's for 4/18 since our flights changed and we'll be arriving much earlier that day and thought a character meal would be good to start off the trip!

Don't give up! On our last trip, I couldn't get a PS at Chef Mickey's at a decent time either. I gave it one last shot once we had checked in, from the room phone, and magically got the PS I wanted! I wonder if they hold some times for guests who call from the resorts?!?

I would try it this way before just showing up to avoid what could be a LONG wait.

Keep trying to call because they have cancellations. I tried one year when we arrived & I was able to get a PS for 2 days later. I got a PS today for Chef Mickeys on Saturday April 16th @ 7:50P. Which will be our check-in day and we check-in at 4pm. That gives us enough time to drop our luggage and get to the Contempary. What a way to start a week at WDW. I'm getting psyched.

I wouldn't go there without a PS - We get our PS's at 5 or 5:30 p.m. and it's always crowded. But do keep calling in case there's a cancellation - even once you're there. People cancel all the time.

It's unrelated to this post, but one of the reasons for the back-up is that they make you have the family photo in front of the plate. I just don't get that. I never buy it - there's no characters in it. And the photographer takes forever trying to pose people. A peeve of mine...
