Chef Mickey's w/ nut allergies

I feel terrible because I cannot remember the Chef's name, but the Chef at Chef Mickey's was AWESOME. He made DD her own plate of pancakes and also threw some strawberries (which were NOT on the buffet line) and grapes on a Mickey Ears plate. I was nervous about people using the tongs for the french toast (which were not safe) on the pancakes so he said it would be no problem for him to make DD her own plate from the kitchen. Things like that just make me so happy to know someone would do that for us. May not seem like much but I was very pleased.We WILL be doing this one again next year, and the food was so yummy!

Why would a disabled lady on Social Security spend her time at DLR? Because of the chefs and the safe foods. I spend up to two hours round trip on busses just so I can eat safe foods and not risk getting sick. Disney has the finest chefs as far as I am concerned and they spoil me rotten. I hear so many people with allergies wanting to go back to Disney parks just for the food.

It may have been Chef Robert. He is the reason we eat at Chef Mickey's EVERY chance we get. He is wonderful and he always prepares our food seperately and is just so nice!

Chef Mickey's was the best!

DS has lots of food allergies and is also a picky eater. The chef there made him gf/cf/ef waffles (and they weren't frozen Van's waffles, either, which is what I was expecting, they were actual home-made waffles) and brought out little jars of pure maple syrup for him. The bacon from the buffet was safe and DS is quite the bacon-eater. We have pics of the characters at the table and DS completely ignoring them, because we told him he could have all the bacon he wanted!

When we go back, Chef Mickey's is a must-do, it was our #1.

I just came back and had a great experince at Chef Mickeys as well. I think you are right it is chef Robert. He was fantastic and his freshly made pancakes were the best I had at Disney. I am gluten free and thought they would be the frozen Vans which I am not in luv with. I was hoping to get there a second time after that meal but no luck. Next trip it is first on the list

We are also going to Chef Mickey's during the first week of June for dinner. This is the first time that we've done a buffet at Disney. I was a bit nervous but after reading posts and having some good luck with other places recently (including Penn State dining hall - state science fair - go Nittany Lions), I am looking forward to both this dinner and breakfast at Tusker House while at Disney with my peanut-allergic son.

I second that! I'm a mom of a son with multiple food allergies and Disney has become our new vacation spot. Well worth the annual trip just to see him happy and safe!

Has anyone taken their child (under 3) with multiple allergies to Chef Mickey? We are going for the character breakfast in August and also going to Rainforst Cafe at DTD for dinner another day. I'm pretty sure that there really won't be much that the chef can prepare for him, since he has 20 allergies. Some are really common allergies, but others are things that they usually put in the allergy friendly foods to replace other common allergens. Will we be charged for the meal if he does prepare something special, even though he isn't 3? I always bring food for my son, so it won't be a problem if he won't be able to have anything.

He sure does have a lot of allergies. I hope he starts to outgrow some of them soon! Disney may be able to work with his diet. Do you have the email address for Brenda Bennett? I have contacted her before and she always makes sure out ADR's are are noted and the chef are very ready for us.

We had an excellent experience at WDW last year with my peanut allergic son, then 3 1/2.
Highlights of dining: Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, 50s Prime Time and Coral Reef. In all cases, chef came out. In ALL cases, he was happy, contented and safe.
We noted his allergy on the ADR, contacted Brenda Bennett, and spoke to the chef in each restaurant. The TS places are a little harder to manage, but he was fine.

I would do like the others have said and contact Brenda she is great. I ate at Rainforest in AK at the last minute without a reservation. I eat Gluten free. I thought I would have a hard time eating here, because it was last minute and it is a chain from outside of Disney. The waiter sent the chef right out to me and he said he could adapt almost anything on the menu. I was pleasantly surprised. Since your son has so many allergies do you r work ahead of time. I believe they can even have the chefs contact you ahead of time if there is a real need.

The last time we were in Disney my Peanut/Tree Nut Allergic son was under 3 and when we went to Chef Mickey They prepared him a plate of safe foods and no they did not charge extra for it. He was suppose to be sharing our meals but due to his allergy most of the places we went to he ended up having a plate prepared for him. Which was wonderful and completely unexpected.

My daughter also has several allergies. We were there when she was under three and at every TS meal the chef prepared her a safe plate of food at no extra charge. Our experiences so far with Disney and allergies has been wonderful!

Chef Mickey's really is great about allergies. I have a strange allergy to maple syrup. If I even touch the bottle and it is sticky I break out head to toe in severe hives.

I usually have my mother move the syrup off the table as soon as we sit down for breakfast. When I mentioned it during breakfast at Chef Mickey's the waitress overheard me and went hunting around in the kitchen and was able to find a maple-free syrup for me to use. It was wonderful, thoughtful, and fairly tasty too!
