Okay, two big kid's here, going in Oct., and would like to do a character dinner. I've noticed a lot of mention about Chef Mickey's, and wondered if it was a good one to consider. Let me know. We are 87 days out, can we get in for it?

We have never had dinner at Chef Mickeys but we love the breakfast! :flower:

You should be able to get in. We love the fun!! DH and I did Liberty Tree Tavern by ourselves and had a blast!

I like the atmosphere at Chef Mickey's but I like the food at 1900 Park Fare better. If you like prime rib (which I don't), fish & pork you will be fine at Chef Mickey's. 1900 Park Fare has more of a selection to choose from as far as food goes. Chef Mickey's has the better dessert selection :goodvibes

OH, I completely disagree about the dessert selection. :earboy2: *All* of the food at 1900 Park Fare was much better than CM, but *espeicially* dessert. At CM they had soft serve ice cream with dry toppings, petite fours, and some cake slices. They looked good, but tasted on par with Enteamens boxed stuff from the grocery -- nothing special to down right flavorless. 1900 Park Fare had fresh from the bakery items -- warm bread pudding (if you like that kind of thing, I thought it was almost as good as mine, LOL), key lime tart, fresh apple cobbler, cheesecake, etc. I think CM had more variety, but less quality.

However, if your big thing is doing it as a character meal, I would go with which ever characters you want to see and just expect the food to be mediocre (and if it is good, then that will be a bonus). CM is definately more "fun" with the classic Disney Characters. 1900 Park Fare has a more "prim and proper" atmospher with Cinderella, Prince Charming, two of the mice and the Fairy Godmother.

I like Chef Mickeys. They take a picture of you in front of this big dish (its cute, they impose characters around it):) that you can purchase. The character interaction was great. It was just me and DBF both in our 30's and every character came by and we got tons of pictures with them . The food was ok. I ate the mickey shaped raviolis, pizza and mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and a piece of chicken. For dessert I had ice cream w/ topping and some assorted pastry things.

We love it!!! We are doing it again this trip. It is the only character meal we are repeating. I say GO FOR IT! You won't be sorry. :flower:

My sister and I went to Chef's Mickeys and we hated it.We had a 5:30 ps. It was dirty and the food was cold. Our waitress was non-existent. I would say though that the characters spent as much time with us as they did everyone else.

I agree with "experiment623mom". The food at Chef Mickeys was awful and the restaurant was dirty and very loud!!!

We went to three character meals on our last trip. Chef Mickeys, Liberty Tree Tavern and Crystal Palace. My DH loved LTT and I loved CP. My DS(3)loved them all. :earsboy:

If you are looking for better food I would go with LTT or CP - just depends on which characters you would like to see. I personally think that we had the best interaction with LTT.

While the food at Chef Mickey's is just ok (The key lime pie is great), my kids adore it here. DH and I suck it up for the kids. The show is fun and the character interaction is good. Last year goofy stole my napkin for the sing-along.

We had eaten at 1900 park fare a few years ago and had a really bad meal. Since then we have stuck with Chef Mickey's. The kids like the Characters and the show so they prefer CM.

We love Chef Mickey's. We've been for breakfast and dinner the food is great, and it's alot of fun. We already have a PS. for our next trip.

Thank Goodness for the positive reviews. We plan to have Thanksgiving Dinner here and want fun, fun, fun, but decent food would be good too!

Do it! We love Chef Mickey's! It's our first night tradition for dinner and we really look forward to it! Fine dining, it's not. But the food isn't bad, and the atmosphere really gets us into the Disney mood. The character interaction is very good too!

We'll be there in 76 days...can't wait!!

My family and I LOVE Chef Mickey's. If you love mash potatoes you will love the ones there. The food is not that bad. There is a lot of character interaction as well. We have young children so it is wonderful for us.

We have been to both dinner and breakfast and we really enjoy breakfast better. We felt like we were packed in like sardines at dinner and the kids were tired and the food was good, but we liked the food at breakfast MUCH better. One thing that we found out by accident, was to make a late breakfast seating time (like 10:30 or 10:45) Make it a brunch. They stop letting people sit for breakfast at 11:00. We practically had the characters to ourselves. They still had plenty of food and my girls were in heaven :cloud9:

Just a suggestion ;)

Does anyone know if a character dinner is considered a signature or table service meal on the dining plan? Just wondered.

The paper I have says that Chef Mickey's is a table service meal. The signature meals are: Jiko (AKL), Flying Fish (BWI), California Grill (CR), HDD & mickey's BBBQ (FW), Citrico's & Narcoossee's (GF), Spirit of Aloha (Poly), Artist Point (WL), Yachtsman Steakhouse (YC), and Brown Derby (MGM). Hope this helps!

Thanks Sinderelli, we want to do Chef Mickey's and Jiko, but only wanted to do one signature meal.
