Chef Mickeys pricing is absurd!!!!!!!

$35 is kind of ridiculous, but you have to remember, it's not just the food, it's not even mostly for the food, you're paying a premium for the characters and the atmosphere. A family of four, with two adults, and two children, could probably eat breakfast for the same price as one at Chef Mickey's at any non-buffet restaurant.

Why not buy a TiW card? You would get 20% off (but then add a 18% tip). I use the TiW card and it makes TS places a bit more reasonable.

It certainly sucks for anyone living here. We pay OOP because we only live an hour away and don't stay the night. I don't know much about the DDP other than we cant get it if not staying there. I always wondered how the heck y'all afforded it. With 5 in our family, I doubt we'll ever eat at a sit down restaurant there. It makes me sad because I would love to try them. But at over $200 a dinner, I guess they aren't meant for locals.

We snack all day. This is a LOT cheaper if you pay OOP. Most bakeries have sandwiches for z$6

If you fully plan to purchase TS meals and spend the $200.00 or more a meal it is a nice savings. 20% off your meal and drinks, but they add 18% tip on pre-discount total. Although that is a great savings, and I use it. It doesn't provide any relief for the $42.95 buffets or $200.00 bills from the Signature restaurants. It basically covers gratuity and some tax. If I spend $1500.00 during a trip in table service meals, I can save $300.00 in tips. The TIW card costs $75.00.

It's worth it if you spend $300 a year on TS. I think the cost is maybe a little higer for TIW for FL residents then it is for AP holders, (unless you also have an AP, if I only lived an hour away, I know I would, lol,) but it would still pay for itself really quickly.

I am not arguing, but I think prepaying $75.00 for TIW card and then eating enough to get back your $75.00 is not really a break even. If you change your dining habits because of the TIW (eat more TS), then I think you need to reap a bigger benefit than break even. Two $200.00 meals = $400.00. Savings from TIW is $80.00 - $75.00 = $5.00 savings. If you typically don't eat the TS the TIW is not going to help much.

Here is a question though...I see a lot of things on message boards that i want to try, but I don't necessarily want the whole meal. Can you order things to go? For example....the pineapple won tons from Yak n yeti or the cheese soup from the Canada place, le cellier?

I don't know about to go, but you could certainly make an ADR and go and just have appetizers and/or dessert. There's no rule that you have to have an entree.

But evn on the DDP these price increases make our tips go up. I absolutely hate the 18% "suggested" tip on the bill with the DDP. Makes me mad that they think they deserve 3% more than the rest of the USA. If the service was good I will leave extra but I want to decide that, not be forced to.

As prices continue to climb for CM and DDP, it makes us look closer at these things (and apparently the same is true with others). We'll let the newbies and CM die-hards go there for now. We'll get our monorail dining fix at the contempo cafe for lunch.

I agree with the prior post that said the price isn't too high if it's filling up. However, it has exceeded my sensibilities.

Checking out the current menu prices on all ears and Chef Mickeys breakfast is up to 35 bucks. This includes tax but geesh. I would never pay that. But I guess they have to justify the ddp prices.

You could always charge it to your credit card and take care of it later.

I tried to convince DH to go this last trip and he refused because their prices are so out of control. I just love all the characters there so it's a shame how it's pricing people out

Luckily this year, we have free DDP. So a couple of character buffets/family style meals just for fun. But without DDP, I don't think I'll pay OOP. I rather get better food for that kind of money. Thankfully, DS8 had fare share of characters and "too cool" for characters stage. Next year, I don't think there'll be any character meals.

We tend to tip 20% (DH was a server in college, so we know what kind of tips many people leave), but when I am given an amount on a bill, that is all we do. Saves us a little bit!
