Which of these character breakfasts has better character interaction. Which has better food?

O'Hana is a family tradition of our for breakfast. The kids love dancing with the characters in the parade around the restaurant and the food is great. There's something about Goofy in a hula skirt that makes me happy...its a lot of fun!

These are completely different meals.

Chef Mickey's is a bright and lively buffet with Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale and Goofy! Goofy greeted us and played with my kids! We sat in the back of the restaurant with a great view of GF and MK Castle! The food was plenty and fairly good. Every 30 minutes a special PARTY song came up and we all waved our napkins around and sang, very cool! Loved it!

Ohanas wasn't as bright, not dull or dark, just more earthy. Mickey, Chip, Dale and Goofy dressed in Hawaiian gear came around. The food was pre-plated breakfast food, dh loved the eggs. We got a lovely pineapple bread to begin with, very nice. They have a great parade of characters, all the kids get shakers and join the parade walking and dancing around the restaurant to I JUST CAN'T WAIT TO BE KING! We had another excellent view of MK Castle. We loved this one too!

Another option is 1900 Park Fare at GF. This was a very sweet breakky with Mary Poppins, Geppeto, Pinocchio, Alice and the Mad Hatter. Lovely food and they gave my kids each a GF cup, we still use them! The room is bright white with carrousel horses decorating the room. More posh than the above two, but not snobby at all. Quite lovely!

I've never been to a preplated breakfast. Do they bring each person their own servings, or is it family style? Can you have seconds, or is it one serving of each item? How does it compare price-wise to a buffet?

We've been to CRT and Ohanas pre-plated. I think the price is the same as buffet. The selection is less. www.wdwig.com menus section will tell you all the food they have.

At CRT, the table has pastries and fruit are ready for you to eat when you are seated. Children get pancakes/waffles and a few other breakfast type food. Adults have a choice of 'healthy' fare like musli and fruit OR my fav, cream cheese french toast, creamy potato, bacon, sausage and eggs. I always request more french toast and occasionally a bit more bacon. Yes, you can ask for more, it's an 'all you can eat' type of thing. Sort of like a limited buffet, but the server brings it to you.

Ohanas started us off with a pineapple bread, very nice! They didn't give us individual plates, instead we got a wok/flying pan filled with breakfast food ~ eggs, bacon, Mickey waffles, sausage, there was other stuff too, can't recall. I asked for more waffles for my 2 year old, he ate 4! dd liked bacon, she asked for more bacon.

I like both buffets and pre-plated. We enjoy the quality of food over quantity any day. We aren't the 'fill your plate until food falls off family' so pre-plated is a nice change to a buffet.

I have funny buffet rules for myself: no food can touch (avoids mountains of food), half the food on my plate has to be fruit or veggies. I tend to get full and I've eaten well. I'm much happily trying only a tablespoon or two of everything than mounds of only a couple things.

Do they do this parade around the restaurant every morning? There is music, and the kids join in, right? Sounds cute. How do you compare it to Cape May? And, I know I will ask later, how do I get there from All Stars? Do I go to MK then take monorail, or is there an easier way? And, can I do this without actually going into MK?

The parade around the restaurant is great...the kids flip for it!

To get to O'hana...depending upon time:

Take a "breakfast bus": I believe these go to the resorts between 7 and 8 and bring people to the various breakfast (check with your resort to confirm this); or MORE fun, take the monorail from the Magic kingdom. In my view, you can never get enough monorail :)

O'hana's food is great, you get as much as you want brought to the table and everyone, including the waiters and cooks greets you with "ALOHA". It's impossible not to start your day with a smile! :)

In April, the Ohana parade was at 9am to the song, "I just can't wait to be king!" VERY COOL! LOTS OF FUN!

I find the quality of food at Ohanas better than Chef Mickeys. We liked Chef Mickey's, but I'll go for quality over quantity any time! And besides, you can ask for more at Ohanas if volume of food is an issue.

We were greeted by a hostess at Ohanas and she told us a lovely story and called us "cousin" all the time! She was wonderful!

I think Ohana's has better character interaction, we have been there twice for breakfast and to Chef Mickey's twice. Chef Mickey's is almost too popular and can be very crowded at times, I think the character interaction is a little rushed there at times. Of course, these are just my experiences and I know many people swear by Chef Mickeys. Also the theming is totally different, Ohana's is a more sedate, tropical feel where Chef Mickey's has a bright, loud , party atmosphere. If I had to chose one, I'd decide based on that first. Check out this pic of Chef Mickeys and you'll see what I mean.

Here is a dining table at Ohanan's from the same site

We went to Ohana's our last trip but must have missed the parade.

Since we are staying at the Grand Floridian we will probably do both again our next trip, even though my wife doesn't love Chef Mickey's, as my daughter gets older (4 now) I think she will like it more and more.

Have fun, I think you will be happy either way.
