I have an ADR already for Chef Mickey's our 1st morning at Disney.
But, I've heard some not so great things about Chef Mickey's lately, so I've been debating changing the ADR to Cape Mays, as I have heard good things about the breakfast buffet there. This breakfast there will only be 3 of us, my DF, my DS6 and myself.
Anyone been to either of these recently and what has the experience been like?

My family ALWAYS starts our WDW trip with breakfast at Chef Mickey's!
It puts you in the Disney spirit! It is so much fun! Mickey Waffles!!!! It is not a gourmet meal but I find breakfast is better than dinner there.

I say go....you will all have a great time!

I was at Cape May at the end of May. It was great as always! Very relaxed atmosphere lots of character interaction!! We go every trip!!!

Have a great time!!!

Hi,

I would say go to Chef Mickey's! They have one of the best character breakfasts! It's a great way to start the Disney Magic, before entering the parks!!! Their Mickey waffles are the best! It will get the whole family in the Disney spirit!!! Hope you have a great time there! Be sure to take pics, that will be one magical memory you will want to remember forever and ever! Have a Magical stay! Take care and have a super Magical day!!

Chef Mickey. In my opinion the food is the same at both. DH likes Chef Mickey better. The atmosphere at Chef Mickey is "party like" and fun. Cape May is typical character meal to me. Nothing special. I'd definitely start out my vacation at Chef Mickey.

My family didn't care too much for Chef Mickey's. We found it to be very loud. I don't think the other customers where too loud, I think it is the materials that the place is made out of cause sound to bounce big time.

Cape May is more padded with lots of cubbies. A more reserved atmosphere.

I agree Chef Mickey's is a party atmosphere. But to me it is along the same lines as the party atmosphere of Chuck E Cheese.

My wife and I visit Cape May each trip. Although our son and daughter are now adults, we still enjoy the atmosphere at Cape May and the wonderful meal.

I'd have to say chef mickeys and the best time for chef mickeys IMHO is breakfast so i'd say keep that adr

Chef Mickey's gets us in the Disney state of mind. :thumbsup2 We do it as soon as we can. However we also always try to make it to Cape May. The food is great and the character interaction is also great.
It may also depend on what you want to do on that day. When we go to Chef Mickey we plan a day at MK. If it is a day that your doing either MGM or Epcot then Cape May would be the right choice!!

We haven't gotten much planned for that day actually. We're sleeping a bit late, after a 13 hour drive the day before. We'll do a late breakfast, maybe DTD, then grocery shopping and back to our condo. The FIL's will be in around 5pm, so, we'll be back at the condo by the time they arrive. So it will be a more relaxed day.
We have 8am ADR's for CRT the next morning. :wizard:

Cape May is AWESOME! We make sure to go there on every trip. The food is very good and since the place is not that busy you get a lot of character interaction time. Goody asked us questions by writing on the paper tablecloth, Minnie played tic tac toe with us and CHip and Dale were adorable.

The food that I remember from our April trip is:

Yogurt Bar
2 kinds of yogurt
granola
sliced almonds
fresh coconut
HUGE blueberries, raspberries, strawberries
chocolate chips

Fresh oranges, red grapefruit, honeydew, cantelope, watermelon, grapes and pineapple.

Hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits with sausage gravy, asparagus, potato casserole, potatoes with peppers and onions, waffles, breakfast pizza, bread pudding, carved ham, grits, oatmeal with all the fixings, bagels with cream cheese, 4 types of cold cereal, cinnamon buns, croissants, chocolate croissants, 3 types of mini donuts and 3 types of mini muffins.

The chef will also make you egg white omelet or scrambled egg whites.

I would definetly pick Cape May over Chef Mickey's. We were at Chef Mickey's last March during ESPN the Weekend and I was not all that impressed at all. Yes it was a good time but I thought the food was not that great at all. Cape May is beautiful. It's very bright and colorful and very clean I thought. The food was awesome!! Out of the 3 character breakfasts we have done, Cape May was the best!
