My mom just returned from her trip 5/28-6/4. While they were at Chef Mickey's for dinner one evening she commented to the server that they would be back for breakfast in early Dec. He said "Well, you might want to make an alternate plan for that breakfast." She asked him why and he told her that they would be closing for completely for a refurbishment and relocation. WHAT?:scared1: He said that they would be moving to the first floor of the Contemporary.:faint: I have never heard of this before. Part of the fun at CM is watching the monorail go thru. I am headed out this Thurs for a four day weekend and will definitely be asking about this. Any comments?

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! Please let someone confirm this because we plan on CM for this December, too. Our DS talks about going back to CM everyday including just an hour ago::yes::

:worried: Please let this NOT be true! I just made our Chef Mickey's adr this morning for our December trip. Hopefully this is just an example of yet another, uh, "misinformed" CM...

Chef Mickey's is not moving and I can say that with 100% confidence. What's happening is the old Concourse Steakhouse location is turning into Chef Mickey's Express which is to be the Contemporary's new counter service location, because they closed the Food & Fun Center. The reason for that is The Wave which replaced the Concourse Steakhouse just moved to the 1st floor, where the Food & Fun Center use to be.

I sure do hope you are right. (obviously been here longer than me;) ) But, I am still going to ask around about this when I get there this weekend. I can totally see a temporary relocation so that they can do a complete refurbishment. Chef Mickey's is a little dated, but I love it anyway! I can see a refurbishment happening with the new Wave going in and also if all those great rumors about the yet to be announced Bay Lake Towes DVC at the Contemporary.

Believe me I am right because I asked a lot of Cast Members at the Contemporary and they told me Chef Mickey's is staying where it is, with no plans to renovate it or move it. If you still don't believe that all the other things I posted that happened or are happening right now were things told to me by the Cast Members working there, way before they were officially announced.

If people are able to make ADRs there for December I would think it will be open.

:woohoo: tks for that I gald hear that because I love to see the monorail run thru chief Mickey’s when Im eating .

We have ressies for Chef Mickey's for late Nov. Nothing was mentioned when we made them. If they were planning a major renovation or move, then you would think that they wouldn't be taking ADR's. My kids (and I must include myself) are really looking forward to Chef Mickey's too!

Trust me, if Chef Mickey's was closing and/or moving, it would have been plastered all over this board and all the websites by now.

Yeah, the Contemporary dining venues are changing. Chef Mickey's ain't one of them.

OP - are you sure your mother was at Chef Mickey's and not Concourse Steakhouse? Not questioning you or her but the two are right next to each other (for now). Or maybe your mother said something to a Steakhouse Cast Member on the way out? Not at the Chef Mickey's podium but the very next one would be the Steakhouse and they could have said "have a nice day" or "see you again soon". That one would make a lot of sense.

I was wondering this same thing. They are so close to each other, it would have been easy to do this.

That's very possible. She is very good at doing things like that. I can't tell her any different, if you know what I mean.;) She was dining at Chef Mickey's. I don't know all the ins and outs of the circumstance of the question. When I try to get more info from her she gets all huffy like I am questioning her intelligance. :furious: So, I just thought I would ask while I was there this weekend. I am sure it is not the case.
