Is there ANY chance that there will be a cancellation??

I'm taking my 5.5 yo from 4/25-5/1, and of all the things he's seen on the planning video, he keeps asking about Chef Mickey's!

We've never been to DisneyWorld before and we'll go back one day, but he still believes that's really Mickey, yk?

Anyone got a reservation during that week that they might not keep??

I'm still learning all of the planning stuff, and didn't know when we'd be at which parks to plan the dining when I first booked, regret it now!

Should I give up, or maybe a spot will come through??? It's only for 2 ppl if that helps!

TIA!

Good luck! I just called the other week to book CM for our trip coming up in May and they only had reservations open at 7:40 pm which is getting late for a 1 and 4 year old to eat. Very frustrating...you can thank the dining plan for the busy-ness!

Does it HAVE to be Chef Mickey's? According to allearsnet Mickey is also at AK for breakfast, Poly for Breakfast with Stitch, and Epcot for lunch and dinner with Chip and Dale.

Keep on trying! Call everyday and at different times of the day and you will most likely get a ADR. Folks cancel all the time and if all else fails you can try calling when you are there. I would also suggest just going at the time when it opens and ask if they can seat you, we have done that with Park Faire when we called and called and were told no ADRs. Chef Mickeys also serves breakfast that you maybe able to get an ADR. Good luck!

I would keep trying. There are probably cancellations all the time. I know that last May on our trip I originally could not get a reservation, but once were were there at WDW one opened up. We also went to Liberty Tree Tavern in the Magic Kingdom for dinner. I think we all liked it better than Chef Mickey's. At the Liberty Tree Tavern dinner is a character meal. We saw Minnie, Pluto, Chip and Dale, and Goofy. Lots of great interaction with the characters.

:thumbsup2

Definitely keep trying. Many over book, not sure what they day they are really going. Makes it hard on others, but what can you do.

Good Luck and try right up to the last day. :thumbsup2

Take a chance and show up at 4:45. Anyone who hasn't shown for their 5:00pm ADR will be cancelled and they will seat any walkups, first come first served.

Last time I was in Disney (2002) I was told by the front desk at PO to call just after midnight because if people reserved with credit cards and the cards did not go through, they released those ressies at midnight. I was never up late enough to try, but then again I was also already in Disney. This might be more do-able from home before you go. Good Luck :hippie:

i believe the dining line closes at 10pm, so calling at midnight won't help... plus, CM is not a "credit card ADR" so there's no chance of it getting cancelled like that...

i would keep calling (btw, there's a toll free # 1-800-828-0228) and if you're still out of luck, call from your resort room... rumor has it that there are always spaces for resort guests... not sure how true it is, but we could not get teppanyaki from home, but were able to score a table when we were in the resort (and then had to cancel, but that's another story for another day! LOL!)

LTT also has Mickey...

I think maybe at Cape May too??? Not sure sooryy!!

it was a great, fun time so I suggest you keep calling because I wonder how many people make ADR's and never show

Le Cellier is totally booked for my whole trip but I took two tables instead...can this be an option for you at CM????

Seriously totally booked with 5 months to go????

whatsup with that??

free dining I guess...

good luck

I was told today that Liberty Tree has Minnie but NOT Mickey. The CM was reading from a list that included the Breakfastasaurus in AK, Garden Grill in Epcot, and w/Stitch at the Poly. Hopefully, you can find another Mickey Meal if you don't get CM.

To the OP- I was in the same spot that you are the first time we went to WDW- there are many places at the parks and outside at the resorts for your DS to meet/eat with Mickey- granted we've always enjoyed the character meals too! Since you've never been to WDW maybe he thinks that Chef Mickey's is the only place to meet Mickey- You might get ADR's at another place with Mickey and he will probably be just as happy- tell him that Mickey moves around to different places and you found him at another place.

If you have time- check out Chip and Dale's Campfire sing-along and movie at Fort Wilderness - it's FREE - it's held by the Trading Post and pool area weather permitting- on most evenings this activity is free for on site guests - Chip and Dale come out- meet and hug the kids and lead a sing-along if it's not raining- you can roast marshmellows and get snacks from a small wagon for the evenings activities- we used to always start our vacation this way when the boys were younger-

We have been to WDW 6 times since 1994 with kids- the times that we waited and didn't get ADR's we managed to snag a few table service places when they were said to be sold out by repeat calling. Other vacations we planned every meal to the hour- it was not fun having to follow a schedule-

Last, summer we decided that the kids were older and we didn't want to eat on a schedule- big mistake- we couldn't get into Sci-fi, Mama's, 50 Prime Time and several others- we had counter service the whole vacation- were we were tired of the heat and starving  if you knew us you'd see that we are hardley about to melt away- gosh forbid that we miss a meal! :goodvibes - it really put a damper on the vacation- I won't be caught that way again.

We didn't get our choice of meal time for Boma in Sept. even 5 months out-

Some ADR's can be made up to 180 days before your vacation-
Good Luck- I hope you can get a table-

Can you see if there are tables available for a different size group -say for 4- maybe the cm's are told to make 2 people sit at tables for 2- when they are all reserved then you are all out but they may have a bigger table available for your date- when you get to Chef Mickey's tell the CM that there will only be 2 of you after all- :firefight like you said - he's only going to be 5 and "believe" for a short time

LTT does not have Mickey, only Minnie, Pluto, Chip, Dale, Meeko (from Pocohontas) and maybe Goofy.

I'm someone who hates microplanning---or felt that way before WDW! For our first trip, I thought the whole must-have-reservations-months-ahead-of-time was a lot of hype only to discover, like you, that there were no openings at Chef Mickey's for our whole visit. Now, I always book as early as possible.

ducklite had a great suggestion about showing up at 4:45. I'm sure some people forget/can't make a reservation and it would be your's. I think it's your best shot.

Good luck!

I think that MOMOFMNM ment her trip was almost five months out and she couldn't get her table at Le Cellier either- ;) I thought the same thing too about it being a few weeks out at first- :teeth:

I would keep trying and then look at other meals where Mickey is listed as an appearing character(go by what Disney says). If that doesn't work, you can always try for standby. Good luck.

Thanks everyone. We do have a reservation at the Garden Grill so he will get to have a Mickey meal, but I hear such great things about Chef Mickey's and would've loved to have it as part of the experience too.

I'll keep calling, and I emailed my AAA guy to see if he has any ideas, but it won't ruin the trip if we don't get it, since we do have a Mickey meal planned!

This is a surprise trip, he knows he's going to Disney one day, (he's thinking around Halloween, which to someone his age is FOREVER away)...he's a wonderful little kiddo and he'll love it no matter what we do!

Thanks again!
